June 5, 2018 - The Outstanding Performance Series (OPS), sponsored by the Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB), is a contest designed to select the most outstanding Class 1C, 2C/3C, 1A/2A, 3A, and 4A concert band programs in the state of Texas each year.
A school may submit entries for up to two categories (march, and concert). One march recording and up to two concert recordings are allowed per band. A panel of judges listen and determine which recordings sound the best of all the ones submitted in each category.
Two of the Shelbyville HS Dragon Band’s recordings are advancing to the AREA round of the contest. “Emblem of Unity” earned 1st place in the march category, and “Brave Spirit” earned 1st place in the concert category at the region level.
