Shelbyville ISD Announces 2017 Homecoming Court (Parade at 2:45pm)

September 26, 2017 - Shelbyville announces the 2017 Homecoming Court to be Freshmen Duchesses Azsahlia Cartwright and Molly Windham, Sophomore Duchesses Amy Gonzalez and MicKenzie Murry, Junior Duchesses Jasmine Osby and Jaiden Rose, and Queen Candidates Tiara Sampson, Madison Taylor, and Kalie Vaughn.

Homecoming parade is at 2:45pm and homecoming coronation is at 7pm Friday, September 29, 2017 prior to Shelbyville playing against Corrigan-Camden at 7:30pm.

Azsahlia Cartwright
Freshmen Duchess Azsahlia Cartwright is the daughter of LaJashia Douglass and Joseph Mitchell. Azsahlia loves to participate in extra-curricular activities like: Basketball, track, softball, cheerleading, and band. She is also a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce.

Molly Windham
Freshmen Duchess Molly Windham is the daughter of Micah and Claire Windham of Patroon. Her grandparents are Pat and Janice Windham of Campti, and Charles and Joyce Hughes of Carthage. Molly is a Varsity cheerleader, a member of the Cross Country team, the track team, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Class Vice President and the Junior Chamber of Commerce. Molly competes in UIL Journalism, Ready Writing, and One Act play. Molly dances with Dance Victorious Advanced Ballet Company of Rowe’s Performing Arts and Gym in Carthage. She has served as an assistant gymnastics instructor and has been invited to serve as assistant instructor for beginning ballet. Molly is also a member of Center Missionary Baptist Church. Molly enjoys reading and dancing. She hopes to be a Kilgore Rangerette and then a member of the Texas Aggie dance team. Molly plans to earn a bachelor’s degree in marketing.

Amy Gonzalez
Sophomore Duchess Amy Gonzalez is the 15 year old daughter of Maria and Victor Gonzalez. Throughout her school years, Amy has participated in volleyball, track, and cross country. In her free time, Amy likes to spend time with her family and friends. Amy is very proud to be elected to represent her sophomore class.

MicKenzie Murry
Sophomore Duchess, Mickenzie Murry is the daughter Mick and Ramona Murry. Kenzie participates in cross country, basketball, and softball, in which she received an all-district title her freshman year. Mickenzie has been a varsity cheerleader for 2 years. She is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Junior Chamber of Commerce. She would like to thank her family and God for everything they have done. Mickenzie would also like to thank all her friends and the sophomore class for electing her to represent the class of 2020.

Jasmine Osby
Junior Duchess Jasmine Osby is the 16 year old daughter of Mario and Teresa Osby, her grandparents are Larry and Faye Johnson, and the late Odell and Sammie Lee Caraway. Jasmine has participated in several sports, Cross Country, Track, and Basketball, and also involved in Band and a member of the SHS Drill team. Jasmine has also competed at the state meet in Band and last year competed at the UIL state meet and placed 7th in Computer Applications. Jasmine future plans are to attend SFA and major in business. Jasmine is a member of the Smith Chapel Baptist Church and would like to thank her family and friends for all the support that they have given her.

Jaiden Rose
Junior Duchess Jaiden Rose is the 16 year old daughter of Tera and Shannon Wilburn. Her grandparents are Joe and Linda Osborne. Jaiden is a varsity cheerleader. She also competes in cross country, basketball, track, softball, band, and powerlifting. Notably, Jaiden has been a state qualifier in powerlifting for two consecutive years and as a member of the Shelbyville Dragon band, she has made two state competition appearances. She is a member of the New Harmony Baptist Church. Jaiden wants to thank God for all his blessings and for this opportunity.

Tiara Sampson
Representing the class of 2018 is queen candidate Tiara Sampson. She is the 17 year old daughter of Darrell and Marlo Ross. She has been involved in basketball for 2 years and has also volunteered for Special Olympics. Tiara plans to attend Panola College after graduation and pursue a degree in pre-occupational therapy. She would like to thank the class of 2018 for electing her to represent them for a third year.

Madison Taylor
Representing the class of 2018 is queen candidate Madison Taylor. She is escorted tonight by her dad. Madison is the daughter of Coach Michael Bill and Karen Taylor. She is the granddaughter of Joe and Jeane Taylor and Robert and Brenda Sears of Shelbyville. Madison is a six year member of the Shelbyville Military Marching Band and this year leads the band as drum major. She is captain of the drill team and has been a member of the dance line for the past four years. Madison is also very involved in Shelbyville athletics. She has participated in volleyball for four years and has served as captain for the past two years. She has received All-Academic Team honors for two years. Madison has participated in basketball for three years receiving All District Honorable mention her junior year. She played softball one year, and has participated in track for two years throwing shot and disc. She has also been a part of the powerlifting team for the past three years where she was a regional qualifier for two years and state qualifier one year. Madison has been involved in student government, serving as class president for one year and class vice president for two years. She has been a two-year member of JCC’s and the National Honor Society. She also competes in Academic UIL Poetry and Prose where she advanced to regionals for the past three years. She also loves being a part of theatre and One Act Play receiving honors including Best Actress at the regional meet, and being a member of the All Star Cast and Honorable Mention Cast. Madison is a member of Ephesus Baptist Church where she participates in the vocal group and with the youth. Madison would like to thank the Lord for his love and mercy and for blessing her to be able to do all the things she loves. She would also like to thank her family for their love and support, and her friends for giving her the opportunity to represent Shelbyville High School and the class of 2018.

Kalie Vaughn
Representing the class of 2018 is queen candidate Kalie Vaughn. Kalie is the daughter of Brian and Nova Vaughn. She is the granddaughter of Gordon and Linda Vaughn, Dale and Dois Glover, and Doug Wilburn of Joaquin. Kalie has participated in several extra-curricular activities during her high school career. She was a varsity cheerleader for 2 years, participated in basketball for 3 years, softball for 4 years, volleyball for one year, and a member of the high school rodeo for 4 years. After graduation, Kalie plans to attend Stephen F. Austin State University to cheer and major in nursing. Kalie would first like to thank God for her many blessings.
