Shelbyville Lions Club Has Ribbon Cutting Event

February 2, 2024 - The Shelbyville Lions Club held a ribbon cutting event at the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce on Friday, January 26, 2024.

Club members gathered with Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors and community members as Deborah Chadwick, Shelby County Chamber of Commerce President, introduced the club.

“We’re super excited about recognizing the Shelbyville Lion’s Club as one of our chamber members,” said Chadwick.

The club joined in 2023 and this was the first opportunity for them to have a ribbon cutting event.

Speaking on behalf was Jimmy Faulkner, who has been a member for several years.

Faulkner introduced the current president of the club, Renea Sanders, and stated an election would be coming up soon as they have a two-year term.

He explained the club focuses mostly on projects in the Shelbyville area, but that they do reach out to help in other areas in the county. The club also participates in the East Texas Poultry Festival yearly. One of the main focuses of fundraisers for the club is a scholarship they offer to Shelbyville ISD students.

The club was officially formed in 2012 and many members have been with the club for several years.
