March 18, 2024 - On March 11 and March 12 Shelbyville High School students Maddie Lout, Travis Caporali, Payton McGee, and Gaylon Harrison competed in the 114th U.I.L. CX Debate State Tournament held at the University of Texas in Austin.
Freshmen teammates Payton McGee and Gaylon Harrison had a successful first tournament day placing 18th and missing advancing to octofinals by just two speaker points.

Sophomores, Lout and Caporali advanced to the second day of competition where after four additional elimination rounds they were awarded 2nd place in conference AA.
