SVFD, CFD Firemen Fight House Fire on SH 87 (Update: Fire Under Investigation)

February 16, 2018 - (Update: February 16, 2018) - SCSO Seeking Information on Structure Fire

On February 8, 2018 at approximately 4 a.m., the Shelbyville Volunteer Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 8185 CR 2115 in Shelbyville. This residence is at the corner of 87 South and CR 2115.

Upon arrival, fire crews found the single story structure and a passenger car fully involved. At the time of the fire, the residence was unoccupied and had no utilities hooked up.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating this suspicious fire. If you have any information regarding this fire or if you have seen anyone at the residence in the days prior to this incident, please contact the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office at 936-598-5601.


February 10, 2018 - Firemen were dispatched to a house fire on State Highway 87 South at the intersection of CR 2115 at 4am, February 9, 2018.  

When Shelbyville Volunteer Fire Department (SVFD) personnel arrived on scene, the fire was fully involved, and assistance was requested from Center Fire Department (CFD).

SVFD firemen got to work extinguishing the fire, and attempting to prevent fire from overtaking the entire house in the event someone was inside.

SVFD had three tanker trucks and a grass truck on scene when CFD firemen arrived at the location.

The two departments worked together to extinguish the house and a car which was right next to the building. Both the house and the vehicle were a total loss. SVFD firemen were dispatched back to the house later in morning when the fire rekindled.

A cause was not immediately able to be determined, and it's not believed anyone was living at the residence. No active utilities were running to the house.
