Tenaha Basketball Teams Travel to Gary for District 23 2A Competition

Both JV and Varity Tenaha Tigers Boys and Girls basketball teams from Tenaha High School competed at Gary High School on Tuesday for District 23 Class 2A competition.

The THS Girls Junior Varsity took a 27-11 win to start the night and the second game of the evening saw the THS JV Boys team win by a narrow 23-22 margin.

Girls Varsity play saw the Lady Tigers jump out to a 10-1 lead at the 3:20 mark of the first quarter. They took a 12-4 lead into the second stanza. By halftime Tenaha led the Gary Lady Bobcats 30-10. Tenaha took a 41-12 lead into the final period and eventually came away with a 54-25 win.

Alisa Dodd led the Lady Tigers with 14 points and Kamari Gray scored 11 for the night.

 Tenaha will next Play at Timpson High School on Saturday, January 2, 2020 with sub-varsity kicking off the day at 1 p.m. and varsity action to follow.

Boys Varsity competition saw the Bobcats come away with a 47-36 conference win over the Tigers.

Tenaha never held the lead and trailed by as much as 20 points. THS found themselves behind Gary 14-8 at the end of the first period and they trailed 25-11 at the halftime intermission. They were behind GHS 36-16 at the end of the third stanza.
