Tenaha Uses Big Second Half to Down Kerens

September 2, 2016 - The Tenaha Tigers varsity football team used five second-half scores to blow a close game wide open, and defeat the visiting Kerens Bobcats, by a 43-12 score last Friday, at Tigers Stadium.

Tenahas’ Jay Lloyd scored a touchdown with 8:33 remaining in the first half. The extra point attempt failed and Tenaha led 6-0. Kerens’ Katerous Douglas answered with a touchdown with 6:57 remaining before the midway intermission. The game was tied 6-6 at halftime.

Abel Rodrigues gave the Tenaha Tigers a 9-6 advantage when he kicked a 38-yard field goal with 8:27 left in the third period. Trai Gardner scored two touchdowns in each the third and fourth quarters, and teammate Onterio Thompson added another second half score to help seal the win.

The Tigers will host Dallas Gateway Christian Academy next Friday, September 9 at 7:30 p.m. Gateway posts a 1-1 record and lost to Temple Christian Academy by a 31-14 margin last week.
