Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service to Offer Professional Food Manager Certification Training Course

January 11, 2018 - Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Nacogdoches County, is offering a professional food manager certification training course. This 2-Day program will be offered for $125.00 on Monday and Tuesday, January 29th, and 30th at the Nacogdoches County Annex Building on 203 West Main Street in Nacogdoches Texas at 8:30 A.M. until 4:30 P.M. Cost includes training, materials, and a national food manager certification examination. The food manager’s certification will be valid for five years. If you are in need to just re-take the exam, it will be administered on January 30th, 1:30 p.m. The cost is $40.00 to re-test. If you are in need of this, please call County Extension Agent Claudann M. Jones at 560-7711 for registration information and also make arrangements to arrive at 1:20 in order to fill out the necessary paperwork. Study Guides will be made available ahead of the class and highly suggested that you make arrangements to get the manual to allow for plenty of time to study but it’s only given with proof of payment. You can pick those up at the Nacogdoches County Extension Service on 203 West Main Street in Nacogdoches. Our office is open 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and closed from noon to 1 p.m. for lunch. You are required to bring a valid Driver’s License to this class and also in order to test. This class will be Pre-registration only and class space is limited. The date to pre-register is January 22nd.

This program is designed to not only prepare foodservice managers to pass the certification examination; it will provide valuable education regarding the safe handling of food. Almost 50 cents of every dollar Americans spend on food is spent on meals prepared away from home. Therefore, careful attention to food safety will help keep customers safe and satisfied.

Foodborne illnesses can be prevented by following simple food safety practices.
