Texas Workforce Commission: When Disaster Strikes?

September 19, 2017 - Lost your job to wildfire, flood, hurricane, or other declared disasters? Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) can pay benefits.

DUA pays federal unemployment benefits to individuals who lost their jobs or businesses or are no longer working as a direct result of a declared disaster.

To receive DUA,  you must:

     1. Apply for and exhaust regular benefits
     2. Be affected directly by the disaster
     3. Live in, work in, or travel through the disaster area
     4. Submit a DUA application within 30 days of the date Texas Workforce Commission announces DUA is available
