Three-Vehicle Crash Occurs in Joaquin

June 25, 2018 - Emergency personnel responded to a three-vehicle crash Tuesday, June 19, 2018 in front of the Joaquin Tire Shop.

The crash involved a saltwater truck and two pickup trucks which all came to rest by a building next to Joaquin Tire Shop at Doogieville Loop and U.S. Highway 84. The Texas Department of Public Safety investigated the crash and additional units with the Joaquin Volunteer Fire Department, ACE EMS, Constables from Precinct 3 and  4 were on scene.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety State Trooper Sean Smith, at 5:15pm a tan 2009 GMC pickup truck driven by David Parent, 59, of Joaquin failed to yield right of way when the GMC entered U.S. Highway 84 from a parking lot and into the path of a black pickup truck.

The black 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck was driven by Udy McClendon, 63, and came to a stop to avoid colliding with the GMC. This was followed by a white Volvo truck-tractor hauling a tanker and driven by Ladarius Thomas, 26, of Louisiana for Pinnergy.

The Volvo took faulty evasive action and veered to the right where it struck the back of the Chevrolet and then the rear of the GMC.

McClendon was transported from the scene by ACE EMS to Nacogdoches Medical Center - Shelby Emergency Department as a precautionary measure.

Parent was issued a citation for failure to yield right of way.
