October 17, 2023 - The Timpson Bear Band traveled to SFA this past weekend for UIL Marching Contest. The band earned a 1st division, which is the highest rating a band can receive at the contest. Arri Moore is the Director of Bands and has been working with the band since the summer in preparation for the contest.
“I’m proud of these kids for just working so hard,” Moore said. “Our music was a little more challenging and we were getting them out of their comfort zone and raising the bar.”
Earning an overall division 1 rating means the band has qualified for the State Military Marching Band Contest. There they will compete against other 2A military marching bands from across the state.
“Their hard work paid off Saturday,” Moore said. “They stepped it up and I could not be more proud of these kids”
The band will travel to Baylor’s McLane Stadium next week to compete at the state level. Until then, the Bear Band only has a handful of rehearsals left to polish their routine.
“Our main focus is to make sure they aim for doing their absolute best,” Moore said. “When they do that, everything else falls into place.”
The band is set to perform on Wednesday, October 25th. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
“The kids get out there and work so hard,” Moore said. “That’s what makes them so successful…they want to succeed.”
