May 12, 2016 - Timpson Bear Update - TISD Band Trip
The Timpson High School band will leave for its trip to Florida Friday May 13. Head Band Director Rhonda Daniel would like to thank the school district, parents and community who made this trip possible for the band.

Friday May 13th
• 4:30pm Dinner Served at Band hall - Line up all luggage/instruments/uniforms on sidewalk
• 5:00pm All students and chaperones meet in band hall
• 5:30pm Pack up/Load equipment
• 5:40pm Students in seats in band hall
• 5:50pm Everyone On Buses
• 6:00pm Leave for Florida
Saturday May 14th
• 6:00am Stop & Eat Breakfast at Cracker Barrel in Gainsville, Florida ($15)
• 8:30am Stop at Turkey Lake Service Plaze to brush teeth, change, etc.
• 9:30am Arrive at Disney's Epcot Center
• 12:00pm Meet at designated place for group picture
• 2:00pm Load buses to go to Downtown Disney
• 2:15pm shop, eat, play. Have fun! ($25)
• 7:00pm Load buses to go to the hotel
• 7:15pm Arrive at Comfort Inn Maingate, 7675 W lrlo Bronson Memorial Hwy, Kissimmee, FL 34747 (407)396-4000
• 10:00pm Room Check
Sunday May 15th
• 7:00am Rise & Shine ... Breakfast in the Lobby
• 8:15am Everyone in hotel rooms/chaperones inspect rooms
• 8:30am Everyone on the bus; leave for Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom
• 9:00am Arrive at Magic Kingdom
• 3:00pm Meet at designated place for group picture
• 6:30 pm meet at Golden Oak Outpost for parade (left of Splash Mountain; there's a wooden gate and a windmill)
• 7:00pm Disney rep will meet us to take us back stage for performance
• 8:30pm Parade performance & Fireworks
• Following our performance we will meet our chaperones by Pirates of the Caribbean to watch parade (chaperones please stand by the clock tower and wait for us)
• Following the fireworks show meet at main entrance to exit the park together and board buses
• Lights out and bed check TBA by Mrs. Daniel.
Monday May 17th
• 7:00am Rise & Shine ... Breakfast in the Lobby
• 8:15am Everyone in hotel rooms/chaperones inspect rooms
• 8:30am Everyone on the bus; leave for Universal Studios Islands of Adventure
• 9:00am Arrive at Universal Studios Islands of Adventure
• 3:00pm Meet at designated place for group picture
• 7:00pm meet as a group to exit the park
• 8:00pm Arrive at hotel unload
• 10:00 pm Room Check
Tuesday May 18th
• 7:30am Rise & Shine ... Thank your director for letting you sleep late!

THS Teacher Uses New Approach to Enhance Learning
Timpson High School science teacher Mrs. Jourden recently conducted a comprehensive review of learning skills with her biology classes. Students worked with a partner using hands on materials to determine mastery of learning objectives. The stations included cells, cellular processes, DNA and RNA genetics, biochemistry, systems, balance and environment. Students have developed individual journals this year that allow them to make notes, recorded course related information that helps them review skills taught in the classroom. Mrs. Jourden’s hands-on approach has enhanced student learning and provides a method for students to be active partners in their learning. Using these methods has also proven to help students better retain and apply the information they have learned.

On Tuesday, Timpson Elementary School Pre-K went on their field trip to Ellen Trout Zoo in Lufkin. We rode the train, had a picnic lunch inside the zoo, and saw lions, bobcats, giraffe, turtles, bats, snakes, and lots more animals. We had so much fun!
