FCCLA News – The Family and Community Services class recently completed their “Developmental Hearts” project. Developmental Hearts are given to mother’s whose newborn infants have been admitted to the Newborn Intensive Care Unit. The fabric heart is worn against the mother’s skin so that the fabric might absorb the scent of the mother. The heart is placed with the baby in the isolette so the mother is always “with her child”. The completed hearts will be donated to Preemie Prints, a nonprofit organization located in College Station, TX. Their mission is supporting and sharing hope with families who have a baby born prematurely or critically ill. They donate handmade items to partner NICUs and to current NICU families. Members of the class include: Bailey Barton, Hailey Barton, Sara Duke, Emily Garcia, Destiny Garner, Immony Gossett, Rebekah Parks, Faith Parks, Kristyn Rader, Jasmine Rogers, Tina Sepulvado, Lacy Wagstaff, Alexus Wallace, and Kambry Wallace.

Timpson ISD Appreciates School Board Members – Carlos Johnson serves as vice president of the Timpson ISD Board of Trustees. Mr. Johnson, a 1993 Timpson High School graduate is employed by Smith Sawmill Services and serves as pastor of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Mr. Johnson hopes during his service on the board to help bridge the community with the school district so that everyone is working together to meet the educational needs of our students. In order to accomplish this task, he emphasizes the need to build relationships between school, parents and community so that we can work toward common goals with the number one goal always to be meeting the needs of our students. Mr. Johnson said he is very proud of the Timpson ISD staff and thinks that the staff puts the needs of students first. Mr. Johnson acknowledges and supports that academics is the top priority of TISD but at the same time understands the importance of extra-curricular activities in developing a well-rounded student. Mr. Johnson recognizes and appreciates that the Timpson school and community value our young people and wants us all to work together to provide the best educational opportunities possible that will lead to increased student productivity and lead students to one day be contributing community citizens. Continuing to build a strong relationship between school and community will, according to Mr. Johnson, only make us stronger and able to unite behind preparing for a better future by preparing our students today. Mr. Johnson also recognizes the importance of transparency and wants to get as much information to parents, taxpayers and community members so that everyone has a clear understanding of the needs goals and accomplishments of the schools. Mr. Johnson also stressed the importance of fiscal accountability and transparency to the tax payers who help fund the district costs. Mr. Johnson wants for all Timpson ISD students the same that he and his wife Tonesia wants for their own child, Timpson Middle Schooler Ty’eshia, which is a solid education with the opportunity to participate in extra-curricular activities that will prepare students to achieve their own life dreams and goals. Thank you Mr. Johnson for your tireless work and dedication for Timpson ISD.

TES Pastries with Parents – Over 100 parents attended last week’s Pastries with Parents at Timpson Elementary School.
