Congressman Gohmert Visits TISD

United States Congressman Louie Gohmert recently visited Timpson ISD. He met with district administrators regarding governmental impact on educational issues.

Congressman Gohmert said he is a strong proponent of local control and thinks federal money should be spent on educational needs identified by the districts. He also listened to concerns of the administrators regarding funding to support the district collegiate center program. He pledged that he would assist in trying to find funding that would help to support this important program. He expressed his appreciation to the district staff and teachers for implementing a program which pays tuition for students taking dual credit classes toward a college associates degree and toward vocational/technical certifications and licensures.

He understood how this benefits students and their parents and will help students be able to earn higher wages when they enter the job market.  Congressman Gohmert also met with students, teachers and community members addressing their questions and concerns. Mr. Gohmert’s visit was a fantastic experience for Timpson ISD. Mr. Gohmert did an interview with Center Broadcasting Company where he said he would do what he could to help the students and school district in Timpson.

Mr. Gohmert has a gift of making his constituents feel important by commending Timpson ISD for the work and effort it is putting into its Collegiate Center. Timpson ISD deeply appreciates the US Congressman taking time out of his busy schedule to visit our staff and students. Timpson ISD would like to thank Eastman Chemical Company who was represented by our friend Mike Tucker and General Shelters who was represented by Timpson native, Derek Pierce.
