Timpson I.S.D. Superintendent Dr. Mid Johnson to Address TAGHS Wednesday

September 11, 2017 - Central to Timpson's past, present, and future are Timpson's schools. Timpson ISD Superintendent Dr. Mid Johnson will outline some of the changes which are occurring at TISD, including major ongoing renovation and construction projects, when he speaks to the Timpson Area Genealogy and Heritage Society at 2pm on September 13.

A native of Gary, Dr. Johnson is beginning his eighth year as TISD Superintendent. His family has deep roots in the area, having owned property near Gary since the days of the Republic of Texas. Middleton Tate Johnson served in the Regulator-Moderator War, the Congress of the Republic of Texas, the Civil War, and was one of the first Texas Rangers. Dr. Johnson recalls coming to Timpson as a boy with his father, who was a farmer and rancher, to conduct business.

“Timpson ISD is a very special place for me and my family” says Dr. Johnson. “We have seen some great times and some tougher times during my residency here. Our school is full of wonderful students and staff. It is most important that schools be filled with people who really care about kids and their futures. I am blessed to be a part of Timpson and Timpson ISD.”

TAGHS meets at 2pm on the third Wednesday of each month in the meeting room of the Timpson Public Library, located on the corner of Austin and Bremond Streets. The public is always welcome.
