Traffic Stops Result in Arrest of Four by Sheriff's Department (Updated)

September 19, 2018 - Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Sergeant Josh Tipton stopped a suspicious vehicle on County Road 1453 off Highway 87 N in Center at approximately 5pm September 18, 2018.

Verbal consent to search the vehicle was given by the driver, Jason Briley, 23, of Douglass. Sergeant Tipton located products associated with manufacturing/delivery of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.

 

Briley and passenger, Brandon Barrow, 19, of Douglass, were taken into custody and transported to the Shelby County Jail.

Later on that evening, SCSO Deputies and DPS Officers stopped a vehicle carrying an individual with outstanding Shelby County warrants. David Lewis, 38, of Timpson, who was taken into custody for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (F-2) W#10905 and Criminal Mischief (M-A).

 

A passenger in Lewis’ vehicle, Troy Lyles Anderson, 40, of Tyler, was found to be in possession of a controlled substance. Anderson also had $1,490 in his possession. This money is believed to be derived from illegal narcotics transactions and seizure paperwork will be filed. Anderson was taken into custody and transported to the Shelby County Jail.

Lewis was being sought September 7, 2018 at his auto shop located on FM 2667 in Timpson as the result of a warrant obtained by Joey Haley, Shelby County District Attorney Investigator. Shelby County Today was on scene as the location was searched for Lewis; however, he wasn't able to be found at that time. 

Officers with the District Attorney's office, Shelby County Sheriff's Department, Center Police Department and Texas Department of Public Safety were on scene during the search.
