TxDOT Lufkin District Names New Director of Operations

October 19, 2017 - The Lufkin District of the Texas Department of Transportation has announced a new Director of Operations to serve in the nine-county district.

Kevin Buranakitipinyo, P.E., will oversee all maintenance and traffic operations in the Lufkin District. He began his TxDOT career in May 2003 after earning a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Texas A & M University. He served as an Engineer in Training, working in design and construction at the Lufkin Area Office.
 
In December 2007, he became a licensed professional engineer and was named project manager of the US 59 South Interchange Project in Lufkin. Within months of the project completion, he was named Assistant Area Engineer for the Nacogdoches Office.
 
In February 2012, he served in the Amarillo District as the lead worker for the Design Team.  Kevin returned to the Lufkin District to serve as the Nacogdoches Area Engineer, and in February 2015, was named Director of Construction for the district. He was appointed as Director of Construction for the Lufkin District on Aug. 8.
 
Kevin and his wife live in the Lufkin area. They have three children and when Kevin is not working, he enjoys coaching their soccer teams.
