September 26, 2017 - A special called meeting of the Board of Trustees of Center Independent School District (CISD) was held on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 beginning at 10:16 a.m. at Center Independent School District Administrative Office Training Room located at 107 Private Road 605 in Center, Texas 75935.
John Henry Holloway called the meeting to order at 10:16 a.m. and declared a quorum. Present was John Henry Holloway; Allison Johnson; Daphne LaRock; Casey Lout; Matthew Mettauer; Traci Willoughby, Betty McDaniel, Director of Finance and James Hockenberry, Superintendent. None were absent. Visitors present were Matthew Gregory, CHS Principal; Heath Hagler, CIS Principal; Jake Henson, CMS Principal; Inez Hughes, FLM Principal and Shelly Norvell, CES Principal.
Matthew Mettauer gave the invocation and Daphne LaRock led the Pledges of Allegiance.
3. Grade Level Realignment and Master Planning Workshop - The Board discussed with the Superintendent and principals the idea, concepts and rationale for grade level realignment. When you place the present and long-term academic needs of the District at the forefront of decision-marking combined with the emphasis on literacy, the current grade level alignments can be improved. Furthermore, the size of Center ISD lends itself well to a new realignment concept.
Additionally, master planning concepts as driven by the potential grade level realignment were discussed. The Board challenged the principals and the Superintendent to look at the future of Center ISD, solicit input from staff and make recommendations for such improvements.
4. Adjournment - A motion was made by Casey Lout, seconded by Allison Johnson to adjourn the meeting at 11:51 a.m. The motion carried 6-0.
