US Flag Half Staff Alert - Pearl Harbor Day

December 5, 2016 - Pearl Harbor Day is observed annually on December 7th to remember and honor the 2,403 citizens of the United States who were killed in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941.

United States Flags and all others flown with it are to be lowered to half-staff beginning at sunrise on Wednesday, December 7th, 2016 and raised at sunset, same day.  It you have no one available to lower it at sunrise it is permissible to lower your flag(s) the night before (Tuesday) and raise it at the end of the day on Wednesday.  Flags that cannot be lowered can show respect for the day by tying a black ribbon or cord to the top of the staff.
