Why Have a Family Reunion?

May 18, 2017 - Family is important.  It is great to get together other than at funerals. It brings together family members who have not seen one another for some time or meet those who have never seen each other.  New relationships can develop or old ones can be renewed.  There can be a lot of catching up to do. Sure, today there is social-media available that is being used by family members to stay in touch but everyone in the family is not tech savvy and some don’t want to be, so face to face is still popular.  That’s what happened with the families of the late Vince Kindle and Lottie Lathan Kindle who were residents of Center, Texas. All of their children are deceased as well.

Traci and Gabrielle, daughters of Buster Kindle, (one of the sons of Vince and Lottie Kindle) and their families deserve a big applause for getting the ball rolling to getting people together and providing opportunities for a variety of interaction with one another.  Sure, the plans were to have the descendants of Vince and Lottie Kindle to meet up in Houston, Texas one weekend and have a good time.

Representatives were present for each of the children of Vince and Lottie: Mary Kindle Lovell Greer, Melvin Kindle, Buster Kindle, V.K. Kindle, Addie B. Bell Bean Green, and Portia Kindle Garrett. Missing was a representative from Maurice Kindle family.   It is great this idea grew into including the descendants of siblings of both Vince and Lottie. Thus the name, Kindle - Lathan Reunion was highlighted in the weekend of April 27-28, 2017 in Houston, Texas with over 100 people and recognized through a letter from Mayor Sylvester Turner.    It is hoped that this will be a reunion enjoyed and talked about for a long time.

Thank you Traci (and James) Hooper and Gabrielle Mayo.  See you in Center, Texas two years from now.
