Flag at Half-Staff for Memorial Day

May 16, 2016 - As we approach Memorial Day, Monday, May 30th, 2016 this reminder:  The US Flag and any other flags flying with it should be lowered to half-staff at sunrise and be raised at noon on Memorial Day. If you have no one to lower your flag at sunrise it is better to have it lowered the night before than not at all.  In any case all flags should be raised at noon.

VFW Loyalty Day Observance

April 18, 2016 - Loyalty Day originally began as "Americanization Day" in 1921 as a counter to the Communists’ May 1 celebration of the Russian Revolution. On May 1, 1930, 10,000 VFW members staged a rally at New York’s Union Square to promote patriotism.   May 1st evolved into Loyalty Day and the first official observance of the day was in 1959 after the signing of Public Law 85-529 on July 18, 1958.
