Teen Drivers Safety Week: Talk to Your Teen About Safe Driving Habits

October 29, 2018 - This week is a great opportunity for parents to start – and hopefully, continue – having conversations with their teens about the importance of driving safely. Whether teens are driving a car, truck, or SUV, the rules stay the same, and they shouldn’t have the keys if they don’t know them. The greatest dangers for teen drivers are alcohol consumption, inconsistent or no seat belt use, distracted and drowsy driving, speeding, and driving with passengers in the vehicle.

What’s New for Shelby County 4-H; Membership Discount Ends November

October 19, 2018 - Calling all Shelby County youth and parents! Have you ever wanted to learn something new and different while having fun? Well we have it, from cooking, taking pictures, fashion, robotics, shooting sports, raising and showing livestock and much, much more for youth 3rd through 12th grades. Youth members may join now until October 31st for a $20 participation fee. Price changes November 1st to $25. Adults pay a $10 volunteer applicant fee. An active enrollment is required in order to register and participate in all 4-H activities and events.  

Landscaping in the Fall

September 12, 2018 - We’ve had some days where high temperatures did not reach 90. We have also received some much needed rain that put a smile on many peoples face. I can’t wait for fall to get here.

And as we’ll talk about for the home landscaper, I want to emphasize the point that fall is a great time to get big items planted.
