Stolen Valor by Mike Belgard

April 26, 2018 - My old granddaddy used to say, "If a man tells a lie long enough, and often enough, even he will start to believe its true." I have recently been following some stories about about these men and women who for profit, or just to make themselves look good, put on military uniforms with ribbons they didn't earn, and/or embellish their record of service in the military. Some of these "self proclaimed" heroes are so good at what they do, they have fooled members of the press, and government agencies who should know better.

'Sticks and Stones' by Michael Belgard

April 10, 2018 - There is a saying that goes like this; " Sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me."  I'm sure that you may have said this when you were a kid or maybe taught it to your kids when they were being called names. The truth be told, that sounds good in theory, but its not really true. The words we speak and the words others say to us have great power and can hurt in a way that leaves lasting scars.  That is why we need to be very careful what we say and how we say things.

Saved From What? by Mike Belgard

March 20, 2018 - When I was just a little boy I lived with my grandmother. Everyday we would walk up the road to my great-grandmothers house. I so enjoyed walking with "Ma." We would discuss life and she would answer any question I asked (and I asked a lot of them.) One day I asked her, "Why do people talk about being saved so much at church? What do we need to be saved from?" She looked at me and with a smile and said "sin." I didn't quite understand but I acknowledged her and went on.

You Can't Make Everybody Happy by Mike Belgard

March 9, 2018 - I come into contact with lots of people on my day to day walk in life and I have found that all people are basically the same. We all can be a little hard to get along with at times. There are lots of people in this world who spend a lot of their time trying to please people. Some people ,like politicians and a few others , try to make their living pleasing people. But no matter how hard they try, they can never make all of the people happy.

God of Beginning Again

January 24, 2018 - I love to play golf. The only problem is I'm just not that good at it. I enjoy the company of the people I'm playing with, the beauty of the course, even the thrill of competition. I have tried practicing to get better but it dosen't seem to work for me. But there is one thing that improves my game every time I use it, and that's something golfers like to call a "mulligan". A mulligan is when you get to hit another ball from the same place if you don't like the way you hit it the first time. It's the same thing as what we called a "do over" when we were kids.

The Gift (By Mike Belgard)

December 22, 2017 - Have you ever wanted to give a gift to someone who was very special to you? It becomes difficult to find just the right item. So you start researching the needs and the desires of the person so you can get them the perfect gift. The perfect gift is that thing that they not only want but that they really need. Something that when they see it they will be amazed at the amount of thoughtfulness and love that has gone into making it perfect for them.

The Good Life by Mike Belgard

November 16, 2017 - Ahhh, the good life! Some think they have it. Others feel everyone but them have it. And all of us are trying to achieve it. But if you ask 10 people what it means to have the good life, or what it takes to attain the good life, you would get ten different answers. So there in lies the problem. "The good life" means different things to different people. What may be the perfect life for me may be horrible for you and vice/verse. So what is the "good life"?
