September 12, 2023 - Precinct 1 and Precinct 4 Shelby County Commissioners have placed dumpsters donated by Tyson at their locations.
The commissioners accepted the donation of the dumpsters during their September 6, 2023 meeting.
Tom Bellmyer, Commissioner Precinct 4, informs that the dumpster at his commissioner yard has been placed outside of his fence in his rock yard and is available 24/7 for household garbage.
During court Roscoe McSwain, Commissioner Precinct 1, stated the dumpster provided to his precinct would be placed outside of his fence.
The silver truck belongs to the reported victims in the shooting incident.

September 5, 2023 - The Center Police Department is investigating a train versus pedestrian incident which resulted in a fatality and took place Sunday, September 3, 2023.
According to the Center Police Department, at approximately 2:15am, units were dispatched to the intersection of Florence Street and Martin Luther King Drive at the railroad tracks when it was reported an individual had been struck by a train.

August 31, 2023 - VFW Post 8904 members and auxiliary honored Iraq War Veterans during a ceremony held on the Center square at the Shelby County Historic Courthouse on August 31, 2023.
August 30, 2023 - During the current burn ban, Shelby County Commissioners are allowing the use of their dumpsters for household trash. This is only during the burn ban and is not in any way meant to replace regular household trash service.
Prohibited items aren’t allowed, such as, tires, paint, batteries, etc.
