Local DRT Chapter to Award Scholarship; Taking Applications

March 25, 2018 - The William Carroll Crawford Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas awards a scholarship to a graduating senior in each of the five Shelby County High Schools.

Although the name of the organization begins with the word "Daughters," all graduating seniors are eligible, so students, check with your school counselor for the application forms.

The completed form must be postmarked by March 15. All instructions are on the form. Good luck Seniors.

William Carroll Crawford DRT to Celebrate Texas Independence Day

February 26, 2018 - On Friday, March 2, at 12-noon, the William Carroll Crawford Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas will celebrate Texas Independence Day and Texas Flag Day by sharing the Texas Declaration of Independence.

Weather permitting, we will be outside the Reba January James Heritage Library in the DRT building on the historic courthouse square in Center. In case of rain, we will move inside.

DRT Invites Community to Celebrate Texas Statehood Day

February 19, 2018 - The William Carroll Crawford Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas invite you to celebrate Texas Statehood Day with us. The Republic of Texas lasted ten years, from 1836 until February 19, 1846. The legal entry of Texas into the Union was actually 29 December 1845, but the decade old Republic did not formally transfer the authority for over six 
weeks.
