Medicare and Health Issues Conference Scheduled in Lufkin

June 10, 2019 - “Power in Community”, a conference on Medicare and health issues is scheduled for Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at the Pitser Garrison Convention Center in Lufkin. The program starts at 9 a.m., a lunch will be provided and there is no charge for attending. The event will be hosted by the Area Agency on Aging and the Southeast & Deep East Texas Aging and Disability Resource Center.

DETCOG Conducting Public Safety Survey

April 18, 2019 - The Deep East Texas Council of Governments (DETCOG) has launched an online Community Survey to obtain input about criminal justice services in Deep East Texas.  This includes information about juvenile services, mental health services, crime victim services, and other aspects of the criminal justice system. Information gathered will help guide future funding decisions for criminal justice and victim services grants.
 

DETCOG Board to Hold First Meeting of 2019 in San Augustine

January 18, 2019 - The Board of Directors of Deep East Texas Council of Governments (DETCOG) will hold their first meeting of the New Year in San Augustine. The meeting will be held Thursday, January 24, 2019 at the San Augustine County Expo Rodeo Center located at 1109 Oaklawn Street (off State Highway 147 North) in San Augustine. A luncheon will be served at noon with the board meeting to follow. 

Help Available for Homes Damaged by Hurricane Harvey

January 18, 2019 - Was your home damaged by Hurricane Harvey? Assistance may be available through the Texas Homeowner Assistance Program.

DETCOG is teaming up with the Texas General Land Office to spread the word so that homeowners in the affected area are aware of the recovery resources that may be available to them. The program offers qualified homeowners assistance to repair, rehabilitate, or rebuild homes damaged by Hurricane Harvey.

DETCOG Proclaims No Impact So Far From Federal Shutdown on Housing Payments

January 18, 2019 - The DETCOG Regional Housing Authority has received inquiries from tenants and landlords who are concerned about the effect of the partial federal shutdown on the HUD Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program.

DETCOG received its regular monthly funding from HUD for Housing Assistance Payments and Administrative Fees for the month of January, and we have been advised that the funding is scheduled to be paid on time for the month of February.
