April 13, 2019 - Due to the afternoon storms, Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative is reporting over 4,000 power outages.
Crews are currently working to restore power as quickly and as safely as possible. Above all, DETEC encourages everyone to keep safety a priority. Should you encounter a downed line, consider it live and dangerous. Please report all downed lines and outages to DETEC at 1(800) 392-5986.
January 8, 2019 - Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative Board of Directors announced the hiring of Bryan Wood, at the board’s December meeting. Wood will succeed Doug Turk, who accepted the role of General Manager of Sam Houston Electric Cooperative in Livingston, Texas after 15 years with DETEC.
June 15, 2018 - Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative is warning residents to be on the alert for a telephone scam targeting utility consumers.
Scam artists call a home or business posing as a Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative employee and threaten to shut off service unless the consumer provides immediate payment by credit, debit, or by purchasing a pre-paid debit card.
12:24pm update: Power has been restored to the Center South area. Crews are currently looking for a fault on the transmission line affecting the Hurstown and Huxley area now. The cause is currently unknown.
