June 20, 2022 - During the 40’s, the high light of the year for the Fincher boys was to fish on “The Old River.” Since we didn’t own a car, we depended on “Jink,” one of my Mother’s brothers, to take us fishing in his dump truck. After passing the Doug Fitt’s Farm near the river at the intersection of the Sabine and Teneha Creek near Huxley, Texas. Since Toledo Bend did not exist at that time, the Sabine River presented one of the most pastoral sites of any body of water in East Texas. Nothing could match the beauty of the willows that hung softly along the banks.
June 7, 2022 - I came to San Augustine thirty years ago to meet with the Deacons of Calvary Baptist Church to discuss becoming their Pastor. Deacon Chairman Johnny Nichols Immediately explained to me why his legs were so bowed. “It’s Arthur”, he laughed.
May 23, 2022 - We named him "Tom" since we never knew his name… or where he came from. For several years this old Cat made himself right at home at our house and scores of other houses in our part of town. His huge black and white body, short ears and slow, measured pace identified him… and his age.

April 26, 2022 - In 1970, a professional photographer warned me that my interest in bird photography was only a passing fad. But thirty-two years later I’ve proved him wrong. Pam and I invite our avian friends often to our home and we visit them regularly at theirs.
April 20, 2022 - Years ago I was on my way to visit my parents in Center, Texas when I whizzed past a State Trooper parked at the Mill Creek Bridge. I looked in my rear view mirror and I could see he’d spotted me, too.
