DETEC Electric Outage Update (10:30pm)

Updated: As of 10 PM, power has been restored to DETEC Members.


August 18, 2019 - As of 8 PM, Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative is reporting approximately 5,900 Members without power in Panola, Shelby and Nacogdoches County. This outage is due to a problem experienced by our power supplier, SWEPCO. At this time SWEPCO has not given a cause and a restoration time has not been given.

To protect household appliances and equipment, it is recommend that you turn off the power source to those appliances.

November 17, 2015 - DETEC Reports of Outages

(Update) As of 7 PM, DETEC is reporting less than 50 meters out.


As of 4:30 PM, Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative is reporting approximately 500 outages.
Crews will continue work until all power is restored.


As of 4 PM, Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative is reporting approximately 1000 outages with the majority in south east Shelby County.
Crews will continue work until all power is restored.

DETEC Reminder: Conserve Now, Save Later

August 6, 2015 - As we enter August, the hottest month of the year, DETEC would like to remind members to conserve now to save later! In fact, DETEC encourages members to conserve year round.

Hotter or cooler temperatures = higher energy usage, higher energy usage = higher bills. It is important to remember that unlike many of your other needs; electricity is paid for after it is consumed. With this in mind DETEC would like to encourage members to conserve now to avoid higher bills later.

Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative Warns Members of Potential Scams

July 16, 2015 - Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative is warning residents to be on the alert for a telephone scam targeting utility consumers.

Scam artists call a home or business posing as a Deep East Texas EC employee and threaten to shut off service unless the consumer provides immediate payment by credit, debit, or by purchasing a pre-paid debit card.

May 19, 2015 - It’s May – and Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative is celebrating National Electrical Safety Month. While safety for our members is top priority year-round, Electrical Safety Month is a time to acknowledge the importance of safety excellence.

Severe storms can cause many electrical safety hazards in and around our homes. To protect yourself and your family from storm-related electrical dangers, Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative provides answers to common storm-safety questions.

DETEC Reporting 1,300 Members Out

May 18, 2015 - As of 4 PM, Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative is reporting approximately 130 members remaining without power due to the severe weather.

    Nacogdoches Co: approx. 70 (with the majority located in the Etoile area)
    San Augustine Co: less than 5
    Sabine Co: approx. 55 (Hemphill)

As of 1 PM, Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative is reporting approximately 230 member without power due to the severe weather.

Local Area Hit By Power Outage

February 9, 2015 - Due to an outage experienced by SWEPCO – Southwestern Electric Power Company, the DETEC service areas powered by our Center, Center South, Hilltop, Holly, San Augustine, Bronson, Black Ankle, Pendleton, Hemphill, Six Mile, Hurstown and Huxley Substations are currently without power.

At this time, the cause of the outage is unknown. DETEC is working with SWEPCO to have power restored as soon as possible.

As of 5:45am power has been restore to all area effected by the power outage.
