September 14, 2022 - The Center High School Alumni Committee has selected two recipients for induction into the Hall Of Honor this year - Capt. John M. Moore (Class of ’62) and John K. Latham, Jr. (Class of ’65). The awards will be presented at the All School Alumni meeting on Saturday morning, September 24 at the John Windham Civic Center. The meeting starts at 10 am but come early for a good seat and plenty of time to visit with other ex-students.
December 16, 2020 - The Center Noon Lions Club has recently donated a total of $8,000 to the Shelby Outreach Ministries. Besides the recent storm damage to their building, there is an increased need for food and services for the local folks they serve.
March 10, 2020 - The XYZ Homemakers Club, officially the Extension Education Association, a division of the Texas Agricultural Extension Service, met on February 20, 2020 at the James Community House. Ellen Manning, XYZ Homemakers Club President introduced guest speaker Carolyn Bounds who demonstrated how to create a Forsythe pot for simple, inexpensive multiple plant propagations.
May 11, 2017 - Thursday at noon – on the square – Center Noon Lions Club had a very successful BBQ lunch sale to raise money for the Lions Children’s Camp in Kerrville.
January 28, 2016 - After WWII the city was energized and by late 1948 it seemed to be time for a big forward step, a gymnasium for Center High School. The School board debated about options including remodeling the old “Exhibit Hall” on the fairgrounds, originally an air-craft hanger, but in the end, constructing an all new gym won. Proponents thought it would cost in the range of $25,000 and in the end, the cost estimate was doubled. I bet it helped that Center had some outstanding high school athletes at the time.
