February 4, 2020 - The Carthage Service League will host a Prom Dress Event at the Sammy Brown Library on February 6-8, 2020. School ID required. All dresses are free.
January 09, 2018 - Service League Thrift Shop on the Carthage downtown square presents a Revolving Half-price Sale January 9 through February 23 . Every week a different section of the shop will feature ½ price items. All sales benefit the Sammy Brown Library and other community projects.
February 10th is the Annual Prom Dress Sale at the Carthage Service League Thrift Shop from 10 to 2. Students must bring school identifications.
July 31, 2017 - Project String Power, Inc. will register students for the upcoming year on Saturday morning, August 12, in Naylor Hall at St. John’s Episcopal Church on Cottage Road in Carthage, from 10:30 until noon. Information on lessons, performances, and scholarships will be available for all prospective participants. Lessons are offered in violin, viola, cello, bass, guitar, and harp.
July 3, 2017 - Peggy Ross, a Christian author, conference speaker, and missionary wife, will be the featured guest at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday morning, July 15, at 10:00. The event is free and open to everyone.
The church is located on FM 1970 approximately 4 miles south of Clayton.
October 20, 2016 - Board members of Project String Power met recently to finalize fundraiser events for student scholarships. Board chair Joyce Hughes said, “We have a record number of student scholarships this year so we are concentrating on two objectives: performance and fundraising. Our students are adding music to our local communities.”
