January 27, 2018 - The William Carroll Crawford Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas is proud to celebrate January 26 as Mirabeau Lamar Day.
January 8, 2018 - The William Carroll Crawford Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas will have the first meeting of 2018 on Saturday, January 13 at 10am at the Sam Samford Lodge in Center.
Gina Ferren has the program. Hostesses are Elizabeth Pate, Bonnie Dorman, JoAnn Rushing, Vickie Martin and Alease Copelin, all descendants of William and Barbara Samford. Plans and activities for the new year will be discussed. Plan to join us.
January 5, 2018 - The William Carroll Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and the Gateway to Texas Chapter of the Sons of the Republic of Texas gathered together in December for their annual Christmas meeting and luncheon.
February 17, 2017 - The legal entry of Texas into the Union was December 29, 1845, but the decade-old Republic of Texas did not formally transfer its authority from the State of Texas to the United States of America until February, 19, 1846.
February 11, 2016 - The William Carroll Crawford Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas will meet Saturday, February 13, at 10:00 AM at the Shelbyville Methodist Church in Shelbyville.
Following the business meeting Merle Howard will have the program on the history of the church, one of the oldest in east Texas. Bring a sack lunch with you, drinks and dessert will be provided.

May 29, 2015 - Elijah Morris was born to Mary Rayburn Morris and William Morris, Sr. of Burk County, North Carolina in 1791. Elijah grew up in a family of eight children. He married Nancy Allen on March 16, 1811.
Elijah, Nancy and their two children moved to Alabama in 1815. Four more children were born in Alabama. Nancy died sometime before the 1830 census was taken.
