October 4, 2023 - The Texas Historical Commission is currently accepting applications for its undertold historical marker program, intended to address historical gaps, promote diversity of topics, and proactively document significant underrepresented subjects or untold stories.
May 1, 2020 - The Texas Historical Commission’s (THC) Caddo Mounds State Historic Site will re-open for visitors on May 1, 2020, offering its regular business hours until further notice.
The site’s grounds and trails will be open daily to 20 people at one time. The Caddo Mounds Visitor Center will be open on Tuesdays – Sundays and limited to 5 persons at any one time. No golf carts are available, and any on-site programming will remain suspended until further notice.

April 17, 2020 - The Texas Historical Commission (THC) is extending the Round XI grant application deadline for its award-winning Texas Historic Courthouse Preservation Program (THCPP) until Monday, May 11, 2020 at 5pm.
“County governments across the state are struggling with unexpected challenges that impact their normal operations,” said Mark Wolfe, executive director of the THC. “We want to give Texas counties ample time to prepare their applications and take advantage of this fantastic economic development opportunity.”

March 11, 2019 - The deadline to apply for the Texas Historical Commission's (THC) Summer 2019 Preservation Scholars Program is March 22, 2019.
The program is an eight-week, paid summer internship available to undergraduate and graduate students interested in learning about the field of historic preservation and gaining hands-on experience.
