What's New at the Library

June 12, 2026 - The Fannie Brown Booth Library has had a great start to their Summer Reading Programs, "Unearth A Story". On Thursday, June 4th, the Director of the Naranjo Museum of Natural History in Lufkin, Texas, Erin Gentry, and her assistant Graham presented a program about Dinosaurs, Fossils and More. She explained about the museum's collection, brought fossils for the kids to touch, and told how paleontologists collect and identify dinosaurs by fossils. Graham presented a very informative and interesting talk about the different kinds of dinosaurs, when they lived, and what happened to them. The children had lots of good questions about the dinosaurs and fossils.

Then on Thursday, June 11th, Mr. Roy of the Fannie Brown Booth Library presented a program of dinosaur facts, fossils and fun. Mr. Roy presented a program entitled "Welcome to the Age of Dinosaurs". There were
PowerPoint presentations about dinosaurs of all kinds and dinosaurs found in Texas. Activites included "Guess the Dinosaur Tracks", "Fossil Dig", and "Dino Egg Suprise". Also there were Dinosaur Lightning Rounds, which are quick-action guessing games based on short clues. The program ended with a "Move like a Dinosaur" game and a big T-Rex Roar! We had a dino photo place for the children to have their picture taken, thanks to Nancy Dickerson.

The children were given a dino writing prompt and challenged to write a story and turn into the library. In addition to the Thursday programs, there are craft classes for all ages during the week.
Our Summer Reading Program is sponsored by the Center Noon Lions Club.
