Roughriders Thrash Red Devils

Center Roughriders Gymnasium – The Center Roughriders varsity basketball team gained a 4-3 advantage, with 3:30 left in the first quarter of Tuesday’s game, in route to defeating Huntington High School. The ‘Riders led the remainder of the contest and won the non-district contest by a lopsided 78-21 final score.

Center held a 13-8 lead after the conclusion of the first quarter and 33-10 at the midway break. Center at one point spooled off 19 unanswered points and led 46-10 with 4:30 left in the third quarter. CHS led 63-19 at the end of the third period.

The ‘Riders outscored Huntington 15-2 in the final stanza and took away the 78-21 home-court win.

The ‘Riders were led by Jaterious Evans who scored 17 points and had 5 steals. Octavius Evans scored 12 points and had 7 steals and 7 rebounds. Teammate Kyle Parks scored 9 points and picked up three boards.

The ‘Riders have now boosted their season record to 12-3. Conference action will begin on January 13.

The Roughriders will next travel to Jacksonville Friday, December 16 for non-conference ninth grade, junior varsity, and varsity boys’ basketball action beginning at 5 p.m.
