Raymond Jackson Stadium. Friday, September 22, 2017 –

The 4-0 Tenaha Tigers showed out with a blowout 62-6 win, at home, over the Clarksville Tigers (0-4). This was following a 53-0 THS thrashing of Gateway Charter just one week earlier.

Tenahas’ quarterback, senior CJ Horn, opened up the scoring with a keeper-run for a touchdown with 10:34 remaining in the first stanza. Christian Castillo added his first of nine total THS extra- point kicks on the night.

Moments later, senior Jay Lloyd added a long 41-yard punt return for a score with 8:29 still remaining in the first period. Tenaha was then leading 14-0.

Horn added his second score of the night on a 9-yard keeper with 4:38 still remaining in the opening stanza and THS led 21-0.

Lloyd added another touchdown run from 10 yards out near the start of the second period and THS took a 28-0 lead with 10:34 left before the halftime intermission.

Clarksville’s lone score came with 4:23 left in the first half when LaTerence Childs took a pass CHS pass and dodged three Tenaha defenders on his way to a 17-yard touchdown. The CHS extra point attempt failed and Tenaha led 28-6.

Onterio Thompson broke free for a 47-yard touchdown to cap scoring for the first half. Tenaha led 34-6 at the midway break.

Horn hit sophomore receiver Erik Smith for a 47-yard score at the start of the third period. Tenaha led 41-6 with 11:46 left in the third quarter of play.

During the remainder of the contest, Thompson added two more scores from 34, and 66-yards out. Fellow THS senior, LaDarrius Garrett added an electrifying scoring run from over 75 yards away as well.

Tenaha completed 10 of 12 passing attempts for 235 yards and three touchdowns. They rushed 16 times for a team-total of 285 yards and five scores.

Clarksvilles’ record moves to 0-4. They completed 4-11 passes for 31 yards and one score. They rushed for 61 yards and 5 first-downs.

They will face yet another set of Tigers when they travel to West Sabine High School next Friday, October 06, 2017 for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.

Coach Craig Horn stated after Friday’s game, “We were happy to get our young guys some playing time tonight. These men come to workouts and don’t complain and they step in and give everything they have when they are called upon. They had some sound athletes and we made some plays when needed.”
