Center Takes Bi-District Game over Kilgore

Nacogdoches Dragons Gymnasium, February 20, 2018 –

The Center Roughriders Varsity Basketball Team took a Bi-District over the Kilgore Bulldogs by a 78-57 score on Tuesday. The game played out at Nacogdoches High School and Center represented Class 4A’s Region 2 District 16, and Kilgore represented District 15.

Center’s sophomore guard Jayden Hicks scored the first two buckets of the game and Center got an early lead which they would not relinquish for the remainder of the contest. Hicks would eventually have eight points in the first frame which helped the ‘Riders hold a 15-12 lead by the end of the first quarter.

 Six points by senior postman Kaleb Parks helped Center outscore Kilgore 17-6 during the second quarter.  The Roughriders carried a 32-18 lead into the halftime intermission.

A slam by senior postman Reggie Daniels II, with three minutes remaining in the third stanza, gave the ‘Riders a 20-point (46-26) lead.  Center led 53-34 at the conclusion of the third quarter.

The final period was explosive scoring-wise for both teams with Center adding 25 points and Kilgore scoring 23.

Kilgore had two players in double figures scoring. Hunter Bonnette had 15 points and Seth Thomas scored ten points.

The Center Roughriders had five players in double digits. Kaleb Parks led the team with 16 points. Three players had 13 points apiece, Jaterious Evans, Reggie Daniels, and Jayden Hicks. Kameron Elmer had ten points.

Center will now move on to the Area Round of the UIL Basketball Playoff where they will face the Van Vandals at Pine Tree High School on Friday, February 23, 2018, at 7 p.m.

Center is led by Head Coach Hiram Harrison and they now boast a 30-2 season mark. They won their conference with a 7-1 District 16 Class 4A mark.

Van  is 18-13 overall and posted an 8-2 mark in District 13 as the second place team behind first-place Brownsboro. The Vandals are led by Coach Ben Kinnison.
