Center Takes Command of District 16 Leaderboard

The Center Roughriders Varsity Baseball Team took a 2-game lead, in District 16 4A conference action, with a 3-1 road win over the Carthage Bulldogs. Center leads the district with a 7-0 league mark. Carthage is in sole possession of second place with a 5-2 standing.

Carthage led early when Jackson Blissett drove in a run with a base hit during the bottom of the third inning.

Center wouldn’t score until the top of the sixth inning when Alejandro Flores helped the Roughriders cause by driving in two runs with a hit. Teammate, Tyler Fountain drove in the other run with a hit in the sixth inning as well.

Tyler Fountain got the win for Center. He pitched five innings and allowed three hits while striking out one batter. Dalton Alexander threw two innings in relief and earned the save.

Jackson Blissett took the loss for the Bulldogs, allowing six hits, while striking out nine 'Riders.

Center is on a seven game winning streak and hasn’t lost since a narrow 1-run loss to Hallsville on March 10, 2018. The ‘Riders’ overall record now stands at 13-5-1. Center is coached by Kelly Spann. They will next face the Woden Eagles at Centers’ Horseshoe Ballpark, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, 2018. This game is a non-district matchup.
