Drue Harris, 88, of Center, Texas, passed away on August 13, 2018 in Center. He was born on September 23, 1929 in Fairplay, Texas to Turner Edward Harris and Madaline Ruby Wyatt Harris. Drue grew up in Starville and worked on the custodial staff at Henderson ISD until retirement. Drue met Mary Ellen Anderson at church in 1989 and immediately was smitten. On July 3, 1990, the two were married and built a beautiful life together with their families for 28 years. Drue was so good to Mary Ellen and was devoted to doing whatever he could for her and their children. Drue loved to talk. Some of his favorite topics were sharing stories about his parents and his job at the pecan orchard. He was also very devoted to his faith in the Lord. He treasured the moments spent listening to his wife read the Bible to him as well as listening to the Gaither’s gospel group. Drue could sit for hours just watching them on VHS tapes. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors farming, gardening and taking care of the lawn. Drue was a member of Church of God in White Oak.
