Ruby Johnson -Community Funeral Home of Timpson announces services for 50 year old, Mrs. Ruby Nell Johnson, of Timpson. Services will be Friday afternoon at two o’clock at First Assembly of God in Timpson. Interment will be in Mount Mariah Cemetery in Garrison.

Among Mrs. Johnson’s survivors are her husband, A. G. Johnson, of Timpson, one daughter, LaShunda Johnson, of Timpson, one son, Armand Johnson, of Timpson, and her mother, Katherine Johnson, of Garrison.


James L. Gray - Community Funeral Home of Timpson announces services for 84 year old, James L. Gray, of Timpson. Services will be Saturday morning at 11 o’clock at First Smyrna Baptist Church in Timpson. Interment will be in Smyrna Cemetery. The body will lie in state from 10 to 11 o’clock Saturday morning.

Among Mr. Gray’s survivors are six sons, Earnest Mims Gray, of Dallas, Alvin Earl, Jennings Earl and Steve Earl, all three of Houston, John Earl, of Center, and Artis Earl, of Fort Worth, and two daughters, Alma Nay, of Midland, and Deloris Earl, of Houston.

Adolphus Darrell Brittain, 79, of Many died October 25, 2006 at Christus Schumpert Hospital in Shreveport, La.

Funeral Services will be held at 5 pm at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, October 28, with Rev. Jimmy Ward Officiating. Visitation will be from 2 pm until the hour of service at the funeral home. Graveside committal services will be at 2 pm Sunday at Folsom Chapel Cemetery near Center, Texas.

Mr. Brittain was born in Shelby County, Texas September 20, 1927 the son of the late Tyre Henderson Brittain and Vera Green Brittain. He moved to Lake Charles in 1968, having lived in Lake Charles and Sulphur until 1990 when he moved to Many to pursue his life long love of fishing. He was a long time member of the Lake Charles Bass club and a dedicated outdoorsman, having hunted and traveled throughout the western United States.

Mr. Brillain, retired from Conoco after 20 years of service. He was Baptist and a member of 32nd Degree mason of the 165 Masonic Lodge of Lake Charles, Veteran of WW II and the Korean Conflict. He also umpired and coached for the South Lake Charles Little League adn the former Babe Ruth baseball League.

Mr. Brittain was preceded in death by his parents, brother, O'Bryane Brittain, sister, Beatrice Ward and a granddaughter.

Survivors include; his wife, Mae S. Brittain of Many, Sons, Robert Brittain, of Lake Charles, Steve, (Cindy) Brittain of Georgetown, Daughters, Margo Brittain, of Moss Bluff, Nacy Brittain Barham of Lake Charles, Brother, G.E. (Ann) Brittain of Lake Charles, Sisters, Bernice Brown, of Kinder, May (Harry) Peyton, of Rosharon, Kathy Canady of Carmel, IN. and 13 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren.

Vada Marie Foresythe, age 76, lifelong resident of Center, passed away at her home on Wednesday, October 25, 2006.

Funeral Services will be 11 am, Saturday, October 28, 2006 at Mangum Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Pat Windham & Doug Stone Officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center. Visitation will be Friday evening from 4 pm to 9 pm at Mangum Funeral Home and Saturday until service time.

She was born December 30, 1929 in Shelby County to parents, William Greenberry Foresythe & Fannie Frances Broadway Foresythe. She worked for her family who owned and operated "Pic and Pay Grocery" and "Foresythe Grocery" here in Center for many many years. She was a member of Center Missionary Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents William & Fannie Foresythe and her brothes, W.J.(Josh), Buford and Hollis Foresythe and sister Clara Mae Hogan.

She is survived by: Niece, Cherry Davis & husband Billy of Center. Nephews: Willie Eugene Hogan of Center and David Hogan of Center. Great Nephews: Allan Hogan & wife Debra of Center and Jeff Hogan & wife Kassie of Center. Great Nieces: Stacey Middleton & husband Martin of Edgewood, Texas. Ashley Hines & husband Chad of Center, Texas and Casey Davis of Center. Sister in law: Gracie Foresythe of Center and Special Friend: Billie Jeaqn Neilsen of Center.


Velma Cartwright - Community Funeral Home of Center announces services for 89 year old, Velma Cartwright, of the New Harmony Community. Services will be Saturday afternoon at one o’clock at Triumph First Pentecostal Church in the New Harmony Community. Interment will be in Saint John Cemetery.

Among Ms. Cartwright’s survivors are three daughters, Elder Mary Thompson, Emma Jean Jordan and Margie Faye Garrett, all three of Shelbyville, two sons, T. C. “Jack” Cartwright, Junior, of Shelbyville, and Earl M. Cartwright, of Tenaha, and one sister, Cleamtene Lesley, of Houston.

Lela Odell Parker - Mangum Funeral Home announces services for 83 year old, Lela Odell Parker, formerly of Canton, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2006 at her home in Canton, Texas. Services will be tomorrow (Tuesday)at 1 PM , October 24, 2006 at Mangum Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Pat Windham officiating, burial will follow at Duncan Cemetery in Shelbyville. She was born on August 24, 1923 to Andrew and Eunice Chambless McDaniel. She worked many years at Bruce Hardwood Floors.

She is preceded in death by her parents Andrew & Eunice McDaniel, husband Emmett Elige Parker, daughter Ann Hampton, son Renard Parker, brother Freddie McDaniel and sisters Vera Youndblood and Verna Isham

Douglas Wayne Barton, 44, of Tenaha, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2006. He was born August 28, 1962 in Longview to Leroy Barton and Glaydis Ramey Barton. Mr. Barton was of the Assembly of God Faith.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Monday, October 23, 2006 at Watson & Sons Chapel in Center with Rev. Steve Lewis and Bro. Cecil Chessher officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery in Tenaha.

He is survived by:
Sons: Cody Barton of Tenaha, Blaze Paul Barton of Tenaha and Shelton Ryan Barton of Tenaha.

Tammy Claudine Riley, 39, of Center, passed away Friday, October 20, 2006 in Center. She was born June 13, 1966 in Morenci, Arizonia to Wesley Claudine Farrier and Judith Ellen Mifflin Farrier. Ms. Riley was the manager of the Lawn & Garden Department of the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Center. She was a former resident of Karnack.

Graveside services will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, October 25, 2005 at Andrews Cemetery in Karnack with Bro. Joe Chism officiating.

Survivors include:
Mother: Judith Mifflin of Potosi, Missouri.
Daughters: Candy Sue Benton of Karnack and Tammy Riley of Progresso.

Dorothy Sue Howell Anderson, 70, of Whitehouse, passed away October 19, 2006 at her residence. She was born September 3, 1935 in Joaquin to Hiram & Ruth Cook Howard. Ms. Anderson was a homemaker, mother and grandmother. She was very active in school activities and was a member of the Gateway Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Monday, October 23, 2006 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center with Rev. James Duncan and Rev. Elmer Matthews officiating. Interment will follow in the Neuville Cemetery in Shelby County.

Lottie L. Deaton, 85, of Center, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at a Nacogdoches hospital. She was born November 27, 1920 in Cheraw, South Carolina to Isaac and Rosa West Langley. She was a mother, homemaker and member of First United Methodist Church in Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 20, 2006 at First United Methodist Church in Center with Rev. Greg Megill officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park.

Jimmy Moss, 80, of Joaquin, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2006 in Center. Mr. Moss was born July 13, 1926 in Yancey, Texas to Barney Henry Moss and Julia Love Moss. He served in the Army during WWII.

The family will have a private committal service at a later date.

Selma Oswalt Owens - Watson and Sons Funeral Home announces services for 87 year old, Selma Oswalt Owens, of Huxley. She was born September 24, 1919 in Shelby County to Joseph Lit Oswalt and Martha Metcalf Oswalt. Ms. Owens was a homemaker, mother and grandmother. Margaret Cannon Bradberry, 91, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2006 in San Augustine. She was born December 24, 1914 in Shelbyville to Napolean B. Cannon and Cleo Crawford Cannon. Ms. Bradberry was a mother and grandmother. She served as secretary and treasurer of the Shelbyville Water Supply for 38 years. Ms. Bradberry was a lifelong resident of Shelbyville and was a member of the Shelbyville United Methodist Church.

Graveside services will be held at 1 pm, Monday, October 9, 2006 at the Shelbyville Cemetery, with Rev. Carla Reed officiating.

Survivors include: Sons: Jack Bradberry and wife Billye of Shelbyville, Marcy Bradberry and wife Robin of Shelbyville and Charles Bradberry and wife Sharon of San Augustine. Sister: Norma Jordan of Huntsville.

Norrid Watkins, 85, of Center, passed away October 6, 2006. She was born April 21, 1921 in Bunkie, Louisiana to Francis M. Morgan and Australia Couvillon Watkins. She was a retired owner of Watkins Jewelry Store, which she ran for 33 years, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, October 9, 2006 at Watson & Sons Chapel with Rev. John Bender and Rev. Charles Boster officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center, Texas.

Charles “Chuck” Thomas, 78, of Center, passed away October 6, 2006 at a Nacogdoches hospital. He was born June 9, 1928 in Henley, Texas to Aubrey Thomas and Annie Merle Smith Thomas. Mr. Thomas was the former Fire Chief of the Shelbyville Fire Department and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He services in the US Air Force in Korea and Germany. Mr. Thomas was of Methodist Faith.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 8, 2006 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Lenard Milford officiating. Interment will follow at Adams Cemetery in Shelby County, Texas.

H. P. Fletcher - Watson and Sons Funeral Home announces services for 81 year old, H. P. Fletcher, of Joaquin. Services will be this (Friday) morning at 11 o’clock at Watson and Sons Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Old Home Cemetery.

Among Mr. Fletcher’s survivors are his wife, Lucille Fletcher, of Joaquin, two sons, Huey Wayne Fletcher and George Fletcher, both of Joaquin, and one daughter, Linda Smith, of Joaquin.

Helen Wilson - Community Funeral Home of Timpson announces services for 74 year old, Helen Wilson, of Timpson. Services will be Monday afternoon at one o’clock at First Smyrna Baptist Church in Timpson. Interment will be in Smyrna Cemetery.

Among Ms. Wilson’s survivors are five sisters, Lucy Harris, of Corpus Christi, Lola Mae Martin, of Timpson, Ethel Lee Bussey, of California, Mildred Bernice Robertson, of San Antonio, and Hattie Scourton, of Timpson.


Nannie Mae Moore - Taylor Funeral Home announces services for 73 year old, Nannie Mae Moore, of Moody, and formerly of Timpson. Graveside services will be Monday afternoon at one o’clock, at Mount Olive Cemetery in Timpson. Visitation will begin Monday at noon at Taylor Funeral Home.

Among Ms. Moore’s survivors are one son, Ernie Ellison, of Moody, three daughters, Fayleen Numerichter, of Maryland, Annette Gillis, of Conroe, and Kathy Simmons, of Waco, and two brothers, Grady Moore, of Arkansas, and Preston Moore, of Oklahoma.

Shelia Windham Jones, 35, of Center passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2006. Mrs Jones was a mother and homemaker. She was a member of the First Assemblyt of God in Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, October 6, 2006 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home with Bro. Chuck Horton and Bro. Tracy Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Sardis Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Green, Bobby Joe Green, Matthew Martin, Michael Neuwirth, Luke Blackwell, Benny Smith, Colton Thompson and Will Blackwell.

She is survived by: Husband: Wade Jones of Center, Sons: Cody Porter of Center, Dillion Porter of Center.

Parents: Roger and Maurine Windham, Step daughter: Nicky Haley & husband Chad of Center, Sister: Angela Waller & husband Bobby of Center, Brother: Max Windham & wife, Tracy of Center, Step Granddaughter: Alaina Grace Haley of Center.
