Lillie Lee Forbis, aka"Big Momma" was born April 16, 1905 in Ironosa, San Augustine County, Texas went to be home with her Lord on July 26, 2009. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Longview.

She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd Forbis; and one great-grandchild, Carol Lynn Broussard. She is survived by her son and spouse, James D. and Gerrie Forbis; daughters, Helen Broussard and Ruth Swanzy; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be at Welch Funeral Home, 4619 Judson Road, Longview, Texas at 10 AM, Wednesday, July 29, 2009 with Rev. Wayne Spanhanks officiating. Graveside services will follow at Old Salem Cemetery in Shelby County, Texas at 1 PM.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 from 6 PM-8 PM at the funeral home.

Kay Barrow of Terrell passed away on July 22, 2009. She was born on April 28, 1945, to the late Dr. Ray A. and Wilma Matthews Chatelain in Port Sulphur, La.

Kay was a member of the First Baptist Church of Terrell. She worked with the Terrell ISD for over 30 years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, walking, going to church, shopping and helping others.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ray A. Chatelain Jr.

She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Richard Barrow; sons, Dewayne Barrow and wife Adrienne, Brian Barrow and wife Lori; granddaughters Madison and Charlotte Barrow; sister, Wilma Elder and husband Buddy; brother-in-law and sister-in-law J. W. and Ann Barrow; niece and nephews Michelle Findley, Michael R. Lane and Kyle Barrow.

Services were held on July 24 at Anderson-Clayton Bros Chapel in Terrell.

Mr. Elton McKinzie, age 82, passed away Friday, July 24, 2009, at a Lufkin hospital.

Mr. McKinzie was born Nov. 19, 1926, in Shelby County, Texas, as a son of the late Nettie (Dean) and William McKinzie. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and retired as a machinist with Center Office Products. He was a member of San Augustine's First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.

Survivors: his wife, Margie McKinzie of San Augustine; daughter, Teresa McKinzie Smith and husband Glenn of Cypress, Texas; grandchildren, Cole, Jordan, and Noelle Smith of Cypress; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Buddy and wife Helen Gray Of San Augustine, Welton and Linda Blackmon of Shelbyville, Jerry Blackmon of Lufkin, Alice Blackmon of Lufkin, James Cabiness of Houston, Hazel McKinzie of Center; a beloved pet, Sparky; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are set for 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 26, at Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel in San Augustine, Texas, with Bro. David Burcham, Bro. Charles G. Hensley Jr., and Bro. Buddy Gray officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Shelby County, Texas.

Visitiation will be held Saturday, July 25, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home at 316 W. Columbia Street in San Augustine, Texas.

Mrs. Johnnie Brown Harvey, age 82 of Center, passed away Friday, July 24, 2009 at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be Sunday evening from 4:00 pm until 8:00pm at Mangum Funeral Home.
Services will be 1:00 pm, Monday, July 27, 2009, Mangum Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Danny Dodson officiating.
Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery.

She was born December 29, 1926 in the Village of Mangham, Louisiana to Parents, Kelly & Myrtle Pitman Brown. She was a laborer all of her life, working as a seamstress for many years and she also was a shorthand secretary, telephone operator and she retired from Tyson. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Center for many years.
She is preceded in death by her Mother, Myrtle Pitman Brown, Brother, Jimmy Brown and a Granddaughter, Jacqueline Murphy Gibbs

Judge John E. Tomlin, passed away Tuesday July 21, 2009 at his home. He was born November 23, 1943 in Center to Dewey Edward Tomlin and Nera Edna Ford Tomlin. Judge Tomlin has served as Shelby County Judge since January 1, 2007. He was a member of the Sons of the Republic of Texas, The Historical Society & The Historical Commission. Judge Tomlin had also served as a school board member for Center ISD for over 10 years. Having grown up as a member of the Providence Baptist Church, he most recently was a member of The First Methodist Church in Center.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM, Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Thursday, July 23, 2009 at The First United Methodist Church in Center with Rev. Charlotte Austin officiating.

He was born April 18, 1919 in Boone, Iowa to Peter B. and Eunica (Smith) Sumstine. He was a carpenter and was self-employed. He served in US Army during WWII.

Shirley Booth Middleton, age 88, of Bedford, formerly of Center, passed away Monday, July 20th at a Bedford Hospital. She was born November 29, 1920 in Center to Verner Booth and Bess Hill Booth. Ms. Middleton was a homemaker, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Center, where she was also a long-time Sunday school teacher. Ms. Middleton was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, and was a very charitable person. She taught Spanish in Center & Shelbyville, and worked at Middleton Milling for years after the death of her husband Martin.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM, Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, July 23, 2009 at The First Baptist Church in Center with Rev. Carl Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park.

Onetia Faye Bewley Segler, 79, of Joaquin passed away Saturday, July 18, 2009 at Nacogdoches Medical Center. She was born December 1, 1929 in Gainesville, Texas to T.L. Bewley and Novilla Mitchell Bewley. Faye was a homemaker and mother, and was always involved with her love of art. She owned Bee’s & Bud’s Arts & Crafts for a period of time in Houston, along with a wedding catering business. After retiring to Joaquin, she owned Nita’s, a floral business. She also worked for the Center ISD for many years.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Monday, July 20th at Watson & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am, Tuesday July 21st at Watson & Sons Chapel with Rev. Michael Hale officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Joaquin.

Judith Grabowski, 68, of Timpson passed away July 17, 2009 peacefully, at her residence. A graveside service is planned for Monday, July 20, 2009 at 10 AM at Corinth Cemetery in Timpson with Rev. Jean Ferraro officiating. The family will receive guest at Taylor Funeral Home Sunday evening from 6-8 PM.

Judith was born in Hawthorne, CA on May 9, 1941, the daughter of the late Harry and Helen (Pittenger)Carolus. She spent her childhood in California wehre she was reared by her grandparents Tressa and Harry Pittenger. Judy and Sam Grabowski were married on September 26, 1992.

She worked as a negineer tech at Brown & Root. Mrs. Grabowski especially enjoyed trips to the boats and vacations just traveling in general. She loved her family, shopping, dancing and living life to the fullest.

Judith is survived by her husband, Sam Grabowski; a daughter, Tressa Fulmer of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Kassie Fulmer, Bobby Fulmer, and Joe Grabowski; also by other relatives and a host of friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents and son Robert Joe Mericle.

Barbara Jean Cockrell Wright, 73, of Center, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Nacogdoches Medical Center. She was born in Panola County to Elam Cockrell and Nadine Hooper Cockrell. Ms. Wright was a member of the Shelby County Historical Society, the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was of the Christian faith.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Friday, July 17th at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Ann Dillen, age 72, of Timpson passed away July 13, 2009 in Nacogdoches, Texas. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM, Thursday, July 16, 2009 in First Baptist Church, Timpson, with Rev. Josh Walters officiating. Private graveside services will be Thursday afternoon in Houston, Texas.

Born February 13, 1937, in Houston, Texas, Ann Dillen was the daughter of the late Marion J. and Nellie (Chisholm) Weaver. She and Paul D. Dillen were married in Houston on January 20, 1956. After her retirement from American Packing and Gasket Co. in Houston, she and Paul D. moved to Timpson, Texas, where she was an active member of the First Baptist Church, Timpson.

Survivors include husband, Paul D. Dillen of Timpson; daughter Myrna Green and husband John of Houston; 2 sons, Donald Dillen and wife Erlene of Corsicana and Paul Dillen and wife Annette of Houston; 2 sisters, Betty Miller and husband Jerry of Katy, Texas and Sarah Schultz and husband Raymond of Mason, Texas; sister-in-law Nell Weaver of Conroe, Texas; 6 grandchildren: Kristen Diamond, John Paul Green, Lisa Dillen, Jason Dillen, Hannah Dillen, and Heather Dillen; and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Buddy Weaver.

Mr. John Wayne Garsee, age 66, of Orange, Texas, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2009, at a Beaumont hospital.

He was born Sept. 28, 1942, in Center, Texas. Mr. Garsee was a member of Eastgate United Pentecostal Church in Vidor and worked as an electrician with IBEW Local #479.

Survivors: wife, Teodora "Yoya" Garsee of Orange; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Brent Rawlinson of Beaumont, Texas, Melissa and Terry Eicher of Burleson, Texas, and Veronica and James Bryan of Plano, Texas; a son, Keith Garsee of Los Angeles, California; grandson, Dylan Garsee of Beaumont, Texas; granddaughter, Olivia Rawlinson of Beaumont, Texas; brothers, Donny Garsee and wife Linda of Orange, Texas, and Danny Garsee of San Augustine, Texas; a sister, Cathy Sanders and husband Wayne of Nacogdoches, Texas; and 25 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Henley Wagstaff; father, Leland Hildrege "Jack" Garsee; step-father, H.B. Wagstaff; and step-mother, Nona Garsee.

James R. Peal, 81, passed away in Houston, Texas, on Saturday, July 11, 2009. He was born on March 20, 1928, in Villa Rica, Georgia to Norman and Hazel Peal. James honorably served his country in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Rice University and Abbott Laboratories. Formerly of North Carolina, James had been a resident of Pearland since 1973 and attended St. Andrews Episcopal Church.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Hazel Peal and brother, William Norman Peal, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Virginia Ann Peal, sister-in-law, Frances Laman and numerous other extended family members in North Carolina.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 13, 2009, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Crowder Funeral Home, Pearland.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at Crowder Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at Restland Cemetery in Tenaha, Texas on Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at 11:00 a.m.

Kenneth E. Whitney, 66, of Joaquin, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2009 at his residence. He was born August 6, 1942 in Silsbee to Herbert Jackson Whitney and Pearl Hayes Whitney. Mr. Whitney was an avid hunter and fisherman and had served as a fishing guide. He loved to cook for both the youth at First Baptist Church of Joaquin and the Joaquin Fire Department. Mr. Whitney was a member of First Baptist Church of Joaquin.

Funeral services for Troy Glenn Matlock, 57, of Mount Enterprise, will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2009, at Crawford-A.Crim Funeral Home Chapel in Henderson, Texas. Interment will follow at Old Prospect Cemetery in Mount Enterprise. Mr. Matlock died Friday, July 10, 2009, at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until service time Saturday, July 11, 2009, at Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home.

Survivors include:

Buster L. "Pete" Ramsey, age 74, of Timpson passed away July 09, 2009 in Shreveport, LA. Graveside services will be at 2 PM, Saturday, July 11, 2009, in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Timpson, with Orval Miller officiating.

Born November 2, 1934, in Timpson, Texas, Buster L. "Pete" Ramsey was the son of the late Frank and Mary Lee (Hughes) Ramsey. He was a Baptist and had been employed as a bulldozer operator and oilfield worker.

Survivors include a son, Terry Lee Ramsey of Timpson; step-son Billy Dennix and wife Belinda Ann of Buffalo, Texas; two step-daughters, Gayle Westmoreland and husband Ronnie of LaPorte, Texas and Sheila Dennix of Jewett, Texas; brothers Doyle Ramsey and wife Imogene of Timpson and Billy Ramsey and wife Quida of Center. He is also survived by 2 Grandchildren: Trent and Tiffany Ramsey of Livingston, Texas; 10 Step-Grandchildren; and 17 Step-Great Grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 11, 10 AM- 12 Noon at Taylor Funeral Home.

Ernestine Hollyfield, age 85, of Timpson passed away July 6, 2009 in Garrison. Services will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, July 11, 2009, in First Baptist Church, Timpson, with Rev. Billy Gene Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Timpson.

Born in Terieton, OK., on December 5, 1923 Ernestine Hollyfield was the daughter of the late Victor and Susie F. (Johnson) Raper. On January 7, 1943, she and Dee Hollyfield were married in San Deigo, CA. After moving to Timpson, Texas, they became the owners of Lanana Cleaners in Nacogdoches. Ernestine Hollyfield was a member of First Baptist Church, Timpson, serving as a Sunday School teacher and President of the WMU.

Survivors include husband of 66 years, Dee Hollyfield of Timpson; son Ronald Dee Hollyfield and wife Chris of Nacogdoches; daughter Dona Jean Wilson of Brea Ca. and sister Veda Baker of Rancho Bernardo, CA.

She is also survived by 5 Grandchildren; John Shank, Dena Williams, Laura Oxford, Matthew Hollyfield and Nathan Hollyfield; 6 Great Grandchildren; Athena, Gideon and Jesse Williams; Cruz and Cory Oxford; and Regan Hollyfield; 2 Step Granddaughter, 6 Step Great Grandchildren, and 1 Step Great Great Granddaughter.

In addition to her parent, Ernestine was preceded preceded in death by her sister Verda Wall Mauldin and son-in-law George Wilson.

Visitation will be 6 - 8 PM, Friday, July 10, at Taylor Funeral Home.

Christopher (Chris) Raymond, 30 of Center passed away Sunday morning, July 5, 2009 at Nacogdcohes Memorial Hospital in Nacogdoches. He was born July 18, 1978 in Carthage to Elzie Raymond and Margaret Yarbrough Raymond. Chris attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held from 12 PM to 9 PM, Wednesday, July 8th at Watson and Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, July 9th at Watson and Sons Chapel with Bro. Gordon Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center.

Leo Duncan, 72, of Shelbyville passed away Friday morning, at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital in Nacogdoches. He was a member of Lydia Missionary Baptist Church.

Mr. Duncan was born November 4, 1936 in Shelby County, Texas to Bob Duncan and Lorene Duncan.

Services will be held 2 PM, Monday July 6, 2009 at Watson and Sons Chapel with Bro. Gordon Vaughn and Bro. Wes Hall officiating, interment to follow at Wimberly Cemetery in Huxley.

Ralph Cottongim, 58, of Center, passed away Thursday July 2, 2009 at his residence.

Graveside Services will be 3:00 p.m. Monday July 6, 2009 at New Hope Methodist Church Cemetery in Winona, Mississippi with Deacon, Charles Bennett officiating. No visitation is planned at this time.

He was born August 1, 1950 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Gilbert William and Edna (Cope) Cottongim. He worked for Tyson as a maintenance technician for many years.

Leo Rodin, 94, of Longview formerly of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday July 1, 2009 in Longview.

Service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday July 6, 2009 at Mangum Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Rick Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Wimberly Cemetery in Huxley. Visitation will be Monday July 6, 2009 9:00 a.m. until service time.

He was born September 10, 1914 in Pueblo, CO to Sam and Mary Rodin. He was a Sgt in the US Army and Air Force, having served our country from 1933 to 1947. Mr. Rodin also was a retired US Postal Clerk after many years of service.

He is preceded in death by his Parents, Sam and Mary Rodin, Brother, Sam Rodin, 2 Sisters, Maggie Rodin and Teresa Rodin.
