Dan L. Duncan, of Houston, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, the 29th of March 2010.

A more detailed and specific obituary is to be published in Sunday’s edition of the Houston Chronicle.

The memorial service, in celebration of Dan’s life, is to be conducted at one o’clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, the 6th of April, in the Worship Center of Second Baptist Church, 6400 Woodway Drive in Houston, where Dr. H. Edwin Young, Pastor, is to serve as the lead officiant.

Immediately following the service, the family will greet friends during a reception to be held in the adjacent Atrium of the church.

Prior to Tuesday afternoon’s service, the family will have gathered for a private interment service at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston.

Donald Wilbanks, 37, of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, passed away March 29, 2010 at a Tyler hospital. He was born December 29, 1972 in Ft. Jackson, South Carolina to Donald Ray Wilbanks and Ella Faye Beck Wilbanks.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, Friday, April 2, 2010 at Toledo Bend Baptist Church in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, April 2, 2010 at Toledo Bend Baptist Church with Bro. Jack Forbis officiating. Interment will follow at Wimberly Cemetery in Shelbyville.

Barbara Cook, 69, of Joaquin, passed away Monday, March 29, 2010 in Center, Texas.

Services will 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Pine Ridge Missionary Baptist Church , 2657 CR 3000 Joaquin, Texas with Pastor Robert Anderson and Pastor Mark Woolf officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, April 2, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Mangum Funeral Home.

She was born Sept. 27, 1940 in Joaquin, Texas. She was a member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church and was the church secretary. Barbara was a retired Executive Secretary for many Drs. at the University of Texas in Houston and the University of Utah.

She was preceded in death by her father, John E. Davis and sister, Betty J. Davis of Joaquin and granddaughter Katherine Cook of Brenham, TX.

Mrs. Cook is survived by her mother, Irene Davis of Joaquin, beloved husband of 50 yrs., Albert J. Cook of Joaquin, 4 children; son James A. Cook, age 52 and wife Rebecca of Brenham, TX, son, John B. Cook, age 49 and wife Angie, of Troutman, North Carolina, daughter D’Ann Anderson, age 48 and husband Robert of Houston, TX; son Jerry M. Inez Childress Menefee Schluens, 89, of San Antonio, passed away Friday, March 26, 2010. Mrs. Schluens was born Quata Inez Childress to Earnest and Annie Childress on February 15, 1921 in Franklin, Texas. After graduating from Franklin High School, she took a job as a secretary in Houston. After World War 2, she married Ralph Menefee Jr. of Tenaha. They lived in Tenaha, where she had three children: Margaret Ann (Molly), Richard Timothy (Tim), and Thomas Stanton (Tom). In 1960, they moved to Angleton, Texas, residing for 6 months with her sister and her family- Polly, Frank and William DeBerry. After 6 months, she opened the Dairyland Drive-In in Alvin, Texas and moved her family to Alvin. She owned and operated the Dairyland with her husband and children for 23 years. In 1983, she sold the restaurant and moved with her husband to Nacogdoches, Texas. Her husband Ralph died in June 1983, and one year later, she took a job at Mize Department Store, where she sold women’s dresses. She married Pete Schluens of Texas City in 1986 and they continued to reside in Nacogdoches. Three years later, Pete died, but she remained in the home until 2006, when she moved in with her daughter Molly Holland and Molly's family in San Antonio. She spent the remainder of her years in the Holland residence, and left this Earth surrounded by her loving family.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, Monday, March 29, 2010 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, March 29, 2010 at Watson & Sons Chapel with Bro. Ed McRae officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center.

Jimmy Lamar Ware, 71, of Nacogdoches, Texas died Saturday, March 27, 2010 after battling cancer for the past several months. Jimmy was born to Ralph and Katie Ware on October 11, 1939 in Panola County. After graduating from Tenaha High School in 1956, Jimmy attended Stephen F. Austin where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1959. He then served proudly in U. S. Army after graduating from college for several years before returning to the states. He earned a Masters degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1964. For numerous years, Jimmy was a beloved teacher at Deer Park High School where he taught History. Jimmy was also an avid sport fan. He loved football whether high school , college, or pro-ball especially the Cowboys. His nieces and nephews will remember him for all the fun times that they had on numerous family vacations where Uncle Jimmy was always the best story teller around the campfire.

Jimmy Lamar Ware was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Lamar Ware and Katie Crump Ware, and his only daughter Elizabeth Locke Ware Powitzky in 2000.

Jimmy ‘s memory will be cherished by his surviving sisters, France Ware Bowlin of Tenaha , Tx and Rose Maude Ware Culver of Hutto, Tx. , his grandson, Ben Powitzky of Houston, TX., his former wife Judy Ming Ware of Deer Park, Tx. ,his nieces, Emily Culver Beaird or Florence, Tx, Beverly Bowlin Martin of Tenaha, Tx, Brenda Jane Culver of Round Rock, Tx and Katie Culver Wallace of Hutto, Tx. , his nephew Bryan Wade Bowlin of Tenaha, Tx. and numerous grandnieces and nephews as well as numerous friends.

A family memorial service will be held for Jim at a later date following cremation by Watson and Watson funeral home. The family has suggested that in lieu of flowers that memorials are made to American Cancer Society P.O. Box 22718 Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718 in his name.


Dr. Milton Wilkinson, 91 of Round Rock formerly of Center, passed away Sunday, March 28, 2010 at Cornerstone Hospital in Austin.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Mangum Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bob Gwin officiating. Full Military Graveside Service and Burial will follow at Liberty Hill Cemetery in San Augustine County under the direction of Barksdale Air Force Base. Visitation will be Friday, April 2, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Mangum Funeral Home.

He was born October 13, 1918 to Eugene and Letha (Mitchell) Wilkinson. He served in the US Air Force during WWII where he retired as a 1st Lt. He was a former State Resprentative where he served for 2 terms. He served as an International Good Will Ambassador for Lyndon B. Johnson. He was previously the Pastor of Aaron Place Baptist Church in San Antonio,TX , Keatchie Baptist Church and Delhi Baptist Church in Rosanky, TX. He did missionary work in Far East Guam. He was also a Mason and Shriner for over 50 years. In 1971 he was listed in the Community Leaders of America. He was the Superintendent at Leggett ISD and the High School Principal in Zavalla, TX. Dr. Wilkinson held a Bachelor of Science Degree, Doctor of Divinity Degree and a Doctor of Philosophy Degree.

He is preceded in death by his Parents, Eugene and Letha Wilkinson, Wife, Bonnie Hope Wilkinson and Daughter, Phyllis Wilkinson Blackburn.

Martha Joann Keating, 83, of McAllen, TX, passed away March 24, 2010. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 29, 2010, in Taylor Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Justin Coburn officiating.  Interment will follow in County Line Cemetery, Timpson, TX.

Mrs. Keating was born December 26, 1926, in Pearsall, TX, and passed away March 24, 2010, in McAllen, TX.

Visitation will be from 12 Noon until service time on Monday, March 29, at Taylor Funeral Home.

Thomas Owen McLean, 68 of Center passed away Thursday March 25 in Huntsville, Texas. He was born November 30, 1941 in Houston, Texas. He was the son of James McLean and Vera Dement. Mr. McLean worked for Pilgrims Pride.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday march 29, 2010 at Martinsville Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, March 29 from 12-1 at Watson and Sons Funeral Home.

Graveside service for Alla Mae Richards, 91, of Pasadena, TX, will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, March 26, 2010, with Rev. Josh Walters officiating. Miss Richards passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2010, in Pasadena, TX.

Born August 6, 1918, in Timpson, TX, Alla Mae Richards was the daughter of the late John C. and Viola B. (Ramsey) Richards. She was a graduate of Timpson High School and business school. She retired December 31, 1980, after 40 years of service as Harris County Judge's Clerk. She was a member of Evangelistic Temple in Houston and then Faithbridge Church in Pasadena.

Survivors include her sister Ona Belle Ash of Houston and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Mary Evelyn Tilley.

Virgil Woody “Slick” Matthews, 91, of Center, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2010, at Shelby Regional Medical Center. He was born March 27, 1918 in Mundy, Texas to Adolphus W. Matthews and Josephine Fox Matthews. Mr. Matthews served in the US Army during WWII. He was of the Church of Christ faith. Mr. Matthews owned and operated Matthews Grocery in Lamesa for many years.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center with Rev. Michael Hale officiating.

Norman Wayne Loosier, 69 of San Augustine County, Texas, and Houston, Texas, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2010, in Houston, Texas.

Norman was born to Jewell (Taylor) Loosier and Juluis Loosier on May 2, 1940, in Emhouse, Navarro County, Texas. He was a Manager of the Equipment Department for Brown and Root, and was a member of the Lutheran Church.

Joe Hudnall, 63, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, March 22, 2010.

He was born April 20, 1946 to Vernon A.”Red” Hudnall, Sr. and Margaret Boudreaux Hudnall. He served in the US Army for 7 years with 2 Tours in Vietnam and he was a Purple Heart recipient. He retired as a boiler maker from the local 587 in Orange, Texas.

Corine Baker Thompson, 92 longtime resident of the Broaddus Community (San Augustine County), passed away March 19, 2010, in Beaumont, Texas.

A native of Broaddus, Texas, San Augustine County, she was born to Leona (West) Baker and William Baker on October 7, 1917. She was a homemaker, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Pineland.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, March 21, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. in the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Don Faulk, Pastor of First Baptist Church in Pineland officiating. Interment will follow in the Hebron Cemetery in San Augustine County, Texas.

Mrs. Clotilde White, 87 of San Augustine, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2010, in San Augustine.

A native of San Augustine County, Texas, she was born to Pricilla (Lunt) Williams and John Thomas Williams on January 30, 1923. She was an retired Office Manager for a local insurance company, and a member of the Christ Episcopal Church in San Augustine

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. in the Christ Episcopal Church in San Augustine with Rev. Patsy Barham officiating.

Her suvivors include: Daughter: Rhonda Hollaar and her husband, Pieter of Huntsville, Sons: John Frankin White and his wife, Barbara-Bowman White of Cypress, and William Byron White of Round Rock; Sister: Gladys Renfroe of San Augustine; Granddaughter: Annerieke Hubbard and her husband, Mark of Arlington, Great-Grandchildren: Ashton Hubbard of Monroe, and Madeline Hubbard of Arlington.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank J. White in 1997.

Kenneth Wayne McCollister, passed away Feb. 28, 2010. Services were Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Triumph The Church & Kinddom of God in Christ. Minister Sherman Kossie officiating and Presiding Elder Johnny Wilson Sr. gave the Eulogy. Interment was at Westview Cemetery in Center, Texas. Arrangements were entrusted to Hicks Mortuary in Center.

He was born to Myrtle Lee Fountain and Raymond McCollister on August 13, 1948, in Center, Texas. He joined Mt. Zion CME Church at an early age and later rededicated his life to Jesus Christ. He served on the steward board at Mt. Zion.

Kenneth graduated from C.H. Daniels High School in 1967. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Kenneth married Hattie Netherly of Shelbyville and to this union one child was born.

Kenneth was employed at Center Plywood for many years until he retired early due to failing health. He was a handy at numerous carpentry jobs, provided taxi service and was willing to lend a helping hand.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Mac Curtis Buckley; one Aunt, Margie Brown; one Uncle, Norman Fountain and one Nephew, Vincent McCollister.

Wyceil Durham, 80, passed away March 11, 2010 at Memorial Hospital in Nacogdoches.

Services will be Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Assembly of God Church in Timpson with Pastor Cedric Grace officiating and Elder Marvin Jackson doing the Eulogy.

On May 4, 1929 Wyceil Yarbrough was born to Matt Yarbrough and Juanita Collins Yarbrough. She joined Clayton Temple C.O.G.I.C. in Timpson and served faithfully as Church Secretary for a number of years until her health failed. Her favorite song was "I made a vow to the Lord and I won't turn back."

She is preceded in death by: both her parents; husband Arthur C. Durham; two children, Cottrell McClendon and Joe Durham; two grandchildren, Eddie Cross Jr. and Stephanie Curtis; and two special friends, Lura Thompson and Geneva Jackson.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to Johnnie V. Daniels Brown. She preceded him in death on March 31, 1983.

Rev. Felix Windham, 91, of Joaquin, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Pine Grove Nursing Center. He was born May 12, 1918 in Shelby County to Jarrett Jackson Windham and Carrie Moody Windham. Rev. Windham pastored several churches in Shelby and San Augustine counties, including Hawthorne, Old Home, Pine Ridge, Mt. Horeb and several others. He, along with Walker Ledford and J. Carroll Chadwick formed a mission of Firsr Baptist Center at Jarrett Windham’s house in 1959, later moving the church to Haslam, where it later became First Baptist Church Haslam. Rev. Windham was currently a member of First Baptist Church in Joaquin.

Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Albert H. Burns, 85, of Tenaha, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at a Nacogdoches health care facility. He was born September 30, 1924 in Tenaha to Robert E. Burns, Sr. and Ruby Lee Wooten Burns. Mr. Burns was a member of the Tenaha Class of 1942, the year they won the Bi-District Championship, and a member of the Tenaha High School Hall of Fame. Mr. Burns was a WWII veteran, having served with the 17th Bomber Group, 34th Squadron in the European Theatre. He was a member and past Post Commander of the American Legion Post 520. Mr. Burns was a member of the Men’s III Sunday school class at First Baptist Church of Tenaha, and had been a Deacon there since 1967. He was one of the longest active licensed real estate agents in Texas, having owned and operated Burns Real Estate since 1947. Mr. Burns was also the past owner and publisher of The East Texas Light. For many years he was a Tenaha City Council member. He was a former member and president of the Tenaha ISD School board, and very active in public service. For many years he was active in the East Texas timber industry. Mr. Burns was a trusted steward of Tenaha and East Texas lore.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Friday, March 12, 2010 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 13, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Tenaha with Rev. Russ Atwood, Rev. Raymond Guthrie and John Scull officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery in Tenaha.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Andrews, Joshua Andrews, Matthew Burns, Blake Smith, Larry Parkman, and Michael Parkman. Honorary pallbearers will be the Honorable Mayor George Bowers and the Deacons of the First Baptist Church of Tenaha.

Blanch Campbell Biggar, 67, of Center, passed away Friday, March 5, 2010, at her home. She was born December 20, 1942 to William Dwight Campbell and Annie Lila Gillis Campbell. Ms. Biggar was a member of Heritage Baptist Church. She was a retired teacher, having taught for Center ISD.

Yvonne Jones Fults, 83, of Mt. Herman, formerly of Splendora, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, March 4, 2010. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Yvonne was born on February 17, 1927 to Calvin and Julie Jones. She was the youngest of nine children and a twin to brother, Leon. Her family and friends will lovingly remember her as a Maw Maw or Granny. She was always ready to give a smile, hug, or a word of encouragement when needed. Her love of God, family, friends and fishing with her long time friend, Idell Fults, was something she held dear. Mrs. Fults was a member of First Baptist Church in Splendora.

Lee S. Garrett, 81, passed away Friday, February 19, 2010 at her home. Ms. Lee S. Garrett was born on Thursday, April 12, 1928 below Prospect at Clarence Crump's Place in Tenaha, Texas to the parents of Alex "Bud" and Dollie Garrett. She completed the 8th grade at Buena Vista Schools. She joined in fellowship and was a faithful member until death of New Prospect Baptist Church, Tenaha, Texas.

Lee S. faithfully served as President of the Senior Choir, President of the Kitchen Committee, Sunday School Secretary and Church Treasurer. She worked as a private housekeeper for over 40 years. She loved her employers and they also loved her. She has often said, "I put my trust in God- I know He's able. I want my soul ready." She lived her life - she was a Sister, a counselor, a confidant, an advisor, someone you could trust - she was a friend, and she was ready.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Dollie Garrett; brother, Jay Henry Garrett; sisters, Ola Lee Garrett and Inez Garrett Beasley.

She leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services were held Saturday, February 27, 2010 at noon at Friendship Baptist Church, Bobo Community, Tenaha, Texas with Reverend C.L. Richard officiating and Reverend Rayford Carraway, eulogist. Interment was a Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, Tenaha, Texas.

Mrs. Vena Brown 99, longtime resident of the Blackjack Community in Nacogdoches County, Texas, passed away early Wednesday morning, March 3, 2010, in Nacogdoches.

Vena was born to Sarah (Warr) Holloway and George Alphus Holloway on July 22, 1910, in the Ironosa Community in Shelby County, Texas. She had lived in the Chinquapin Community in San Augustine County with her family many years ago, and was a loving homemaker being a very loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother to her children, and grandchildren. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church in the Blackjack Community in Nacogodoches County.

Funeral Services will be on Sunday, March 7, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel in San Augustine, with interment following in the Attoyac Cemetery in San Augustine County, Texas

Rev. Freeman Bryant will officiate at the service.

Allen Glenn Hartley, age 71, of Nacogdoches passed away Thursday, February 25, 2010.

Services will be at 6 p.m., Wednesday evening, March 3, 2010 at Hawthorn Funeral Home

Mr. Allen Glenn Hartley was born July 11, 1938 in Panola County, Texas to the late Gertrue Creech Hartley Reeves of the Galloway Community and the late William Thomas Hartley, Jr. of Carthage, Texas. Allen was a graduate of Carthage High School with the class of 1958. He served his country willingly and proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Army retiring after 30 years of faithful service with the rank of Major. He also retired from the city of Nacogdoches Water Department and the Nacogdoches Post Office. He loved his Country, his family, traveling all over the world making many friends along the way, fishing and hunting and visiting with his many friends. One of the most resent highlights of his life was attending the 50th reunion of his High School graduation visiting with his many friends of his past. Mr. Hartley was a member of the Masonic Lodge #579 of Columbus, Georgia, achieving the status of Master Mason. He was a kind gentle man, loving husband, father and grand father that will be greatly missed. .

Rodney Lynn Cooper, 53, of Orange, died Sunday, February 28, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Officiating will be Rev. Johnny Harrison of First Christian Church of Sour Lake.

A graveside service will begin at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Duncan Cemetery in Shelbyville.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Born in Orange, Texas on July 16, 1956, Rodney was the son of Earnest Edgar Cooper and Ruth Jeanette Duncan. Rodney wworked as a driller on a drilling rig and loved hunting, fishing canoeing, camping, and rebuilding computers. Rodney deeply loved his family, grandchildren and family pets.

He was preceded in death by his parents: and brother, David Eugene Cooper.
Rodney is survived by his wife of 24 years, Carol Cooper; daughter adn son-in-law, Alisha and Jerry Utley of Silsbee; and son Davey Cooper of Bonham.

Also surviving are his grandchildren, Zackary Wayne Utley; and sisters and brother-in-law, Earnestine and Lonnie Peveto of Orange, Peggy and Tommy Snider of Oranger, Barbara and Eddie Head of Orangefield, Teresa Whittaker of Orange and Shelia Barber of Orange.

Reba January James, 77, of Center, passed away Monday, March 1, 2010 at her residence.

Her wishes were to be cremated. No services are planned at this time.

She was born October 6, 1932 to Condy and Maude (Evers) January. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Daughters of 1812, and the Daughters of the Confederacy, where she served as an officer in each organization. She was very active in the Shelby County Historical Society and she also spent much time with the renovation of the Shelby County Court House and in research for the Shelby County Museum.

Nicky Leon Rushing, 55, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2010 in Houston. Nicky was born in Center, Texas February 19, 1955, the son of Albert and Dura Mae Wheeler Rushing.

Nicky was a graduate of Center High School and went on to graduate from Stephen F. Austin. He taught school for over thirty-two years, spending the last twenty-eight of them at Hardin Middle School teaching science and computers. Nicky loved to ride motorcycles as well as work and repair computers.

He was preceded in death by his brother Albert Earl Rushing. He leaves behind his devoted wife of twenty-seven years Donna L. Rushing of Hardin, his beloved son, Andrew Phillip Rushing of Hardin, parents Albert and Dura Mae Rushing, brother Bill and wife Joann Rushing, sisters Francine and husband Don Gardner, Jeannie Runnells, Anita and husband Larry Jackson, Sherry and husband Charles Parks all of Center. In addition he leaves numerous nieces and nephews.

A service will be held Monday, 4PM, March 1, 2010, at Hardin Baptist Church, Hardin, Texas. On Tuesday March 2, 2010 a funeral service will be held at 2PM, at Old Salem Missionay Baptist Church in Center, Texas with burial to follow in Old Mt. Olive Cemetery.

Dale Copelin, age 54, of Center, passed away Saturday evening February 27, 2010 in Center. He was born October 7, 1955 in Tyler Texas to Rayford Ewing Copelin and Margarett Dale Honea Copelin.

Marty Doyle Bradshaw, 49, of Houston, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2010 in Houston. He was born July 31, 1960 in Center to Barney Doyle Bradshaw and Bobbye Ann Adams Bradshaw. Mr. Bradshaw was a member of the New Hope Congregation Methodist Church.

Visitation will be held from 5-9 pm, Sunday, February 28, 2010 at Watson and Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Monday, March 1, 2010 at Watson and Sons Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Verner officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Center.

Reolus Stevens, 89, of Joaquin, Texas, passed away Friday, February 26, 2010 at her home. She was born December 8, 1920 in the Paxton community to Alvie George Thompson an Bertha Mae Coyle Thompson. She attended Jackson Missionary Baptist Church in Joaquin. Mrs. Reolus Stevens was a full time mother and a Homemaker.

Margaret Prycer Eakin, 94 years old, passed away February 27, 2010 at her home in Timpson, Tx. surrounded by her family. The family will welcome friends and loved ones on Monday, March 1st, to the rosary and visitation at Taylor Funeral Home in Timpson from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Services will be held at St. Mary Epiphany Catholic Mission, Timpson, on Tuesday, March 2nd, at 10:00am. The requiem mass will be celebrated by Father Jose Luis, Father Dev., and Father Basil. Burial will follow in Corinth Cemetery, Timpson.

Mrs. Eakin was born on October 25, 1915 in Ragley, Tx. to Andy & Minnie Beasley Prycer. She was a member of St. Mary Epiphany Catholic Mission Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, J. Herbert Eakin.

Margaret Prycer Eakin was one of 11 children born to Andy & Minnie Beasley Prycer. She attended boarding school at St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Marshall, Tx. She later moved to Jacksonville, Tx. where she graduated high school and assisted her mother in running the Prycer Dairy. Her mother moved the family to Timpson, where Margaret met the man she would marry, John Herbert Eakin. The two were married December 24, 1936 in Nacogdoches, Tx. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The couple celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in 1997. Margaret was a wife, mother, grandmother, and worked many years at Timpson ISD as a teacher’s aide and librarian. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, crocheting, was an avid reader, hosting family reunions, and collecting red dishes.
