Nathan Franklin “N.F.” Posey was born on March 17, 1928 in Marshall, Texas to Elam Rabi and Francis Parrish Posey. He passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2012 in Shreveport after a lengthy illness.

Dad married Mama, Betty Ross, on September 11, 1948. They had four children; Betty Ann, Frank, Bo and Debra Kay. We made our home in Houston. While living in Houston, Dad did whatever he had to do to provide a living for our family, from selling furniture and used cars to building houses. When we moved from Houston to Joaquin, he continued in the construction business. In 1970, his sons joined him. They built houses in Joaquin, Logansport and Pendleton. The last house built was Bo and Sheila’s house. He helped build the new Logansport Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a member. After the housing market fell off in the early 80’s, he began B & N Auto. He was one of the best used car salesmen around. Once he was ready for retirement, he and mom retired to the bank of the Sabine River. Dad loved a good game of 42 and to watch boxing and any western on TV; any western, except for John Wayne, only because Mama had a crush on him. He had the CB (radio) name Hell Raizer, which fit him perfectly.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Watson & Sons Chapel with Bro. Sam Glover officiating. Interment will follow at Truitt Cemetery in Joaquin.

While at Panola he studied magic and put on many magician shows. He later joined the National Magician Society and entertained many groups with his slight of hand.

He was in the Air National Guard in Tucson, Arizona for 6 years and worked at KGUN TV station in Tucson for many years.

He moved to Shreveport, LA and worked at KTAL TV as an engineer for several years.

He moved to Center and was the original “Cable Guy”. He was Manager of Center Cable TV and was instrumental in installing all the cable around Center and San Augustine. He was Manager of the newly invented Eastex Mobile phone system and later became General Manager of KDET and the Cable Co.

He knew how to fix most everything, and was consultant to cable installers many years after he retired when they needed help in locating a problem.

He was elected and served two terms on the Center School Board of Trustees. He was President of Center Noon Lions Club.

In 1980, Dan and his sister, Dixie, planted their first of many Christmas trees and started a business that he enjoyed throughout his life.

He became President of the Texas Christmas Tree Growers Association and while he was President, he enlisted the help of then Senator Bill Haley to pass a law that only Texas grown Christmas trees could be displayed in the Capitol rotunda and offices. That law still stands.

He was the Electrical Engineer for the First Baptist Church for nearly 30 years which involved getting the church services on Channel 2 for broadcasting.

Anyone who knew Dan would say that he was a good man. He helped his friends in any way he could. He was not a man to show anger. He loved to have fun and liked to play jokes on his friends. He loved going to have coffee with his buddies every morning and joking with them.

He also enjoyed his dogs and especially his dog, Robert Jr.
