Harold David Clay, 83, of Lake Jackson, TX, passed away June 29, 2012, in Houston, TX. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, July 2, 2012, in Taylor Funeral Home Chapel, Timpson,TX, with Orval Miller officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until service time at 3:00 PM. Mr. Clay

Harold David Clay was born August 31, 1928 in Timpson to George Travis Clay and Gladys Fredrick Clay. He was of Baptist faith. Harold graduated from Timpson High School in 1946. He then joined the Navy and served his country for 4 years. After service he went to work for Bell Telephone Company in Houston. He retired February 20, 1985 as Systems Technician in Freeport, Texas.

In 1955 Harold and Wanda Elaine Milford were married. They lived their entire married life in Lake Jackson, Texas and raised their family. Harold enjoyed fishing and hunting and spent most of his free time doing this.

In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Elaine (Milford) Clay, sons Gerry Michael Clay and Harold Dayward Clay.

Survivors include son Jeffery Clay; daughters Debbie Klatt and Lisa Chapman, all of Lake Jackson; brothers Travis Clay, Jr. and wife Bobbie of Timpson and Richard Clay and wife Judy of Greenwell Springs, Louisiana; 5 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.

Cecil Alton Dean, Sr., 70, of Timpson, TX, Dean passed away June 28, 2012, in Nacogdoches, TX. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, July 1, 2012, in Taylor Funeral Home Chapel, Timpson, with Bro. Justin Coburn and Bro. Chris Burris officiating. Interment will follow in Latham Cemetery, Shelbyville, TX. Visitation will be from 12 noon until service time on Sunday.

Born May 13, 1942, in the Lone Cedar Community of Shelby County, TX, Cecil Alton Dean was the son of the late Ira Lee Dean and Alta Oates Dean. He was a graduate of Tenaha High School and retired as a floor supervisor with Container Corporation of America. Cecil was a member of Timpson Masonic Lodge #437, and had spent many happy hours participating in trail rides and watching Dustin’s ballgames.

Survivors include his wife Jeri Dean of Timpson; son Cecil A. “Bubba” Dean, Jr. of San Augustine, TX; sisters Lucille Brown and husband Bob of Rusk, TX and LaNelle Edge and husband James of Clute, TX; sister-in-law Edna Dean of Humble, TX; stepsons Robbie Lee Strahan and wife Jerrie of Timpson, Don Strahan and wife Sherri of Timpson, and Kevin Strahan and wife Terri of Nacogdoches, TX; step grandchildren: Jessica Strahan, Karlie Strahan, Krissie Shull and husband Justin, Mallory Strahan, and Dustin Strahan.

In addition to his parents, Cecil Dean was preceded in death by brother Vernon Dean, sister Margaret Ann Dean, and first wife Shirley Dean.

Richard A. Chote, 76, of Yantis was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Hospice of East Texas, Tyler, Texas. He was born September 15, 1935, in Hot Springs, Garland County, Arkansas to Wallace Ira Ellis Chote and Martha Catherine Boone Chote. He served in the United States Army April 14, 1958 to April 13, 1964. Upon discharge, he went to work at Southwest Tablet Company in Dallas, Texas. While working there, he met Peggy Jean Tyre. They married on January 11, 1966 in Dallas, Texas. In 1972, they moved to Shelbyville, Texas and opened a donut shop in Center, Texas. Later, they started the Center Printing Company, retiring from the day-to-day in July 1989. Richard enjoyed fishing, gardening and attending festivals, such as the Poultry Festival in Center where they would display their woodworking that they loved and the Syrup Festival in Henderson, Texas where he showed how the old antique printing presses worked. They also enjoyed traveling in their RV all over the United States. Richard was truly a man of integrity and unconditional love. He always taught his children to do the right thing.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one step-mother, Leah Chote; one sister and two brothers-in-law, Susie and Orville Berry and Thomas Gossett; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Carl Chote, Jesse and Dorothy Chote and Luther Chote; two brothers-in-law, James E. Tyre and Charles W. Tyre.

Mr. Coy Nutt, age 90, well known East Texas petroleum businessman, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2012.

Mr. Nutt was born August 20, 1921, in Dotson, Texas, as a son of the late Robert B. Nutt and Emia Jane (Cassity) Nutt. Coy was a U.S. Army veteran, serving as a staff sergeant during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.

Survivors include his son, Coy W. Nutt of Nacogdoches; a daughter, Dian Pitman of Nacogdoches; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel in Nacogdoches with Pastor Pat Kelly officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Nacogdoches.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 25, 2012.

John Rogers Porter, Jr., 91, of Center passed away Saturday, June 23, 2012 in Nacogdoches. He was born December 24, 1920 in Homer, Louisiana to John Rogers Porter, Sr. and Cynthia Elizabeth Brittain Porter. Mr. Porter was retired from the carpentry business and had worked for the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department. He was a member of Center Missionary Baptist Church and served in the Army Air Corps.

Billie Bryan Campbell Shofner was born on July 19, 1935. Passed away June 21, 2012.

Ma Bill was a member of St. Mark’s Methodist Church of Center, Texas. Billie was a rural route letter carrier for over twenty-two years. She was a member of the National Rural Letter Carrier’s Association and Order of the Eastern Star. She loved arts and crafts, making jewelry, painting, babysitting her grandbabies, yard work and pot plants. Reading was her favorite pastime, along with traveling abroad.

Roma was a secretary for Rugby Laboratories in Carrollton, TX, Ruby Falls in Chattanooga, TN, and First Baptist Church, Timpson.

Minnie Pearl Burch Smith Hammack, age 70, of Cushing, Texas, passed away Monday, June 18, 2012, at Nacogdoches Medical Center.

She was born on June 14, 1942, to parents Cecil Burch and Flossie Randolph Burch.

Carolyn Ann Irish Bourque, 67, of Orangefield, Texas died Wednesday June 13, 2012. She was born May 7, 1945 in Center Texas to Elroy Irish and Margie (Bailey) Irish. She graduated from Center High School in 1963, attended Panola College and graduated from Stephen F. Austin State College in 1967. She taught elementary school in Port Arthur for three years, then thirty three years in the Bridge City School System. She earned a Master’s Degree in English from Lamar State College. She retired in 2004.

She married Claude (Buddy) Bourque Jr. in 1969 and he preceded her in death in 2003. She was a member of the Old First Orange Baptist Church, Orange Texas.

She is survived by her step son, Skip Bourque and wife, Dianna, of Winston-Salem, NC; two brothers, Leonard Irish of Center, and Charles Irish and wife, Betty of Denton. She is also survived by her niece, Stacey Irish-Keffer and husband, Kennan Keffer; nephews, Collin Irish and wife, Amy of Littleton, CO and Keith Irish of Houston; grand nephews, Drake Keffer of Denton and Cole Irish of Littleton, CO and grand niece, Julia Irish of Littleton, CO.

A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 17, 2012 at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange with Dr. Keith Meyer officiating. A graveside service and interment will be at Newburn Cemetery in Center, Texas on Monday, June 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.

Linda Faye Collins, 65, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, June 15, 2012 at Nacogdoches Medical Center in Nacogdoches. She was born July 19, 1946 in Center, Texas to Barnett R. Mobley and Odell Fultz Mobley. Mrs. Collins owned and operated Collins Pest Control for many years. She was a member of McClelland Community Church, where she served as secretary and taught Sunday school for twenty-one years.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m.to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Allie Mora Jordan Wilburn, 92, of Nacogdoches, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Garrison Nursing Home after a long illness. She was born November 25, 1919 in Nacogdoches to John Hogg Mora and Addie Pearl Whitton Mora. Mrs. Wilburn was married to Johnny Jordan and they had five children. Mr. Jordan passed away in 1980. In 1990, she married Coleman Wilburn, who passed away two years after their marriage. She was a lifetime resident of Nacogdoches. Mrs. Wilburn was a member of Mt. Union Freewill Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Mt. Union Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Mt. Union Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. John Voss officiating. Interment will follow at Helpenstell Cemetery in Nacogdoches.

Born March 17, 1942, in Wilkinson County, GA, James Frank Hall, Sr. was the son of the late John T. and Dealvah (Johnson) Hall. He retired from Moore Business Forms after 42 years as a district regional manager. He was a member of Center Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf with his friends. He also found time for carpentry, canning, and entertaining family and friends.

Survivors include his wife Maxine Hall of Timpson; son James F. Hall, Jr. and wife Donna of Perry, GA; daughters Shirley Velasco and husband J. R. of Abilene, TX, and Elaine Carter and husband Keith of Woodstock, GA; stepsons Michael Bryce and wife Karolyn and Bennie Bryce and wife Felicia, all of Timpson; step daughter-in-law Shonda Bryce of Timpson; and sisters Myrtice Brown and husband Winford of Muscadine, AL, Pat Clark of Salem, Oregon, Linda Jones and husband Paul of Cochran, GA, Marie Wages and husband Ed of Duluth, GA, and Bertha Hall of Carrollton, GA. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren: Cody and Ian Hall; Kyle Killgore; R. L., Grace, and Frank Velasco; Eric, Adam, and Sarah Carter; Cody, Taylor, and Amber Bryce; Shane Parker; Trevor Duke; and Kimberly and Kevin Zamora; great grandson Tucker Killgore; and numerous nieces and nephews.

James Hall, Sr. was preceded in death by his parents John T. and Dealvah Hall, brother John Hall, and stepson Donald Bryce.

Mrs. Ava Marie Hensarling, age 48, of Nacogdoches, passed from this life on Monday, June 11, 2012, in Nacogdoches.

Ava was born May 14, 1964, in San Augustine, Texas to Doris (Ponder) and Charles Hodges. She was a graduate of San Augustine High School being a member of The Class of 1982, was a Homemaker, and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Ronald (Ronnie) Hairgrove, 50, of Tenaha, passed away Monday, June 11, 2012 at his residence. He was born July 13, 1961 in Houston to James Edward Hairgrove and Grace Rehrig Hairgrove. Mr. Hairgrove loved to rope and ride horses. He was a member of Buena Vista Baptist Church in Timpson.

Walter Allen, 84, of Center, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012 at Holiday Nursing Home.

Leroy Horton, Jr., 48, passed away Friday, June 1, 2012. He was born March 7, 1964 to Leroy and Ellen Horton. He graduated from Garrison High School and was employed at Nibco in Nacogdoches.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 9, 2012 11am at Mout Olive CME Church Garrison, Texas with Rev. Leander Hines, officiating. Interment will follow at Green wood Cemetery #2 in Garrison, Texas.

George “Butch” Willingham entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior peacefully in his sleep on June 3, 2012, while in Islamabad, Pakistan on a Missions trip.

A memorial service and celebration for Butch’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2012, in the chapel of Green Acres Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Phelps and Dr. David Dykes officiating. Burial will be at Oaklawn cemetery, Center, TX, at a later date under the direction of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Directors, Tyler.

He was born December 6, 1943 in Waco to the late George A. Willingham, Sr. and Mattie Frank Ballard.

Butch worked as a financial planner for Met Life and was active in many aspects of his church family. During his membership at Tyler Metro Church, he began serving in the Missions field. His love of travel also carried over into his membership at Green Acres Baptist Church where he also became actively involved with Missions program there. At Green Acres he was a member of the Jim and Cheryl Echols Sunday school class and sang in the Celebration Choir, as well as narrating during services.

His devotion to others was seen also in his local commitment as he served as chairman on the Traffic Safety Board, place #7, for the City of Tyler for the 2005-2013 term. He also loved bike riding and served on the Bike Texas board, an advocacy group for biking, as well as serving as past president of the Tyler Bicycle Club.

Survivors include his wife of 8 years, Kathy Willingham of Tyler; daughters, Elisabeth Willingham Eckerfield and husband Cpt. Thomas Eckerfield, USMC, of Tyler, Mandy Willingham Campbell and husband Joel Campbell of White Oak; step-brother, Don Wyatt of Nacogdoches; grandchildren, Sunny Eckerfield, Mason and Clayton Campbell. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Charlcie Rudd Willingham; a sister, Sharon Willingham; and a step-brother, Hal Wyatt.

Alice was a bookkeeper for Shell Oil Company in Deer Park, TX, and interior designer with Foretravel in Nacogdoches, TX. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Timpson. Always a busy lady, Alice loved caring for her family and also found time for raising Yorkshire terriers.

Survivors include her husband E. A. Ross of Timpson; sons Greg Ross and wife Lisa of Wing, AL, and Allen Ross and wife Kami of Nacogdoches; daughter Desiree McKey and husband Dave of Nacogdoches; brothers: Bobby Gene Crump and wife Wanda of Sulfur Springs, TX, Doye Rodney Crump and wife Mary Beth of Timpson, and Ronnie Crump and wife Debbie of Nacogdoches; sisters Patricia Ann Clepper and husband Gene of Timpson, and Vicki Sue Miller and husband Randy of Shreveport, LA; 9 grandchildren: Kayla Hughes and husband Stacy, Klara Joy Burgeron and husband James, Kellie Lynn McKey, Chester Allen Ross, Whitney and Britney Ross, Lee Palafox, Diamond Ross, and Jason Hughes and wife Candice; 11 great grandchildren: Jessy Hughes, Brandon Hughes, Dillon Grace, Hannah Grace,

Ms. Penny Fussell Daughtery, age 66, of San Augustine, passed from this life late last evening, June 4, 2012, in San Augustine.

Penny was born in Jasper County, Texas, on September 19, 1945, to Maxine (Matteaurer) Fussell and Carmen Fussell. She was employed as the Tax Assessor for the County of San Augustine; Retired from the City of San Augustine, and afterwards she retired from the Department of Public Safety Office in Center. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter in Center, and a member of the United Pentecostal Church in Center.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 7th, 2012, in the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel, with Rev. David Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in the Liberty Hill Cemetery, San Augustine County, Texas. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 6th, 2012, from the hours of 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, 316 West Columbia Street, San Augustine, Texas.

James E. Owens, 68, of Huxley, passed away June 3, 2012 at his home in Huxley. He was born April 5, 1944 in Orange to James S. Owens and Selma M. Oswalt Owens. Mr. Owens retired from the City of Huxley after twenty-one years of service and was a fishing guide on Toledo Bend Lake for many years. He attended Lydia Missionary Baptist Church and Huxley Pentecostal Church.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Watson & Sons Chapel with Bro. Wes Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Strong Cemetery in Huxley.

Leonard Earl Kauffman, 64, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2012. Leonard Earl Kauffman was born July 4, 1947 to Alvin and Katherine Kauffman. He departed this life May 30, 2012. He joined Carroll Chapel church at an early age. He graduated from East Liberty High School.

Services will be held Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 11am at Carroll Chapel CME Church, Shelbyville, Texas with Rev. Billy Gardner officating. Interment to follow at Carroll Cemetery, Shelbyville, Texas.
