Funeral services for Tommie LaMyrle Alexander will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 31, 2012, at First Baptist Church, Timpson, TX, with Orval Miller and Bro. Dale Alexander officiating. Interment will follow in Patroon Cemetery, Shelby County, TX. Visitation for family and friends will be 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Wednesday, May 30, at Taylor Funeral Home. Ms. Alexander passed away May 28, 2012, in Timpson, TX.

Tommie LaMyrle Alexander was born August 5, 1935 to the late Willie L. “Snooks” and Gladys Gertrude Cash Chambers in Patroon, TX. She attended school at Patroon and Shelbyville until her family moved to Hemphill where she graduated in 1952. On May 29, 1961, she graduated from Houston Vocational Technical High School with an LVN nursing degree. After receiving her degree in nursing, Tommie and her husband Charles Alexander returned to her East Texas roots where she would work as a nurse at Shelby General Hospital.

In 1962, Charles and Tommie incorporated Timpson Tamco and Timpson, Texas became their home. This is where they would raise their children and own and operate several businesses throughout the years. In 2003, Tommie was honored with the Pioneer Spirit award by the Timpson Area Chamber of Commerce.

Everyone was always welcomed at Miss Tommie’s. She loved each of her children’s friends as if they were her own. Anyone who has ever known her has rich fond memories of her, whether they be a friend or employee. The most important relationship in Tommie’s life was with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Her unbending faith in Christ carried her through many good and bad times. She never failed to be thankful for all her blessings. The most precious of all her blessings were her children, grandchildren and great greandchildren. She exemplified God’s love by being a never-ending blessing to all those around her. She not only was a mother, or friend, but an angel bound here on earth who is now set free.

In addition to her parents, Tommie is preceded in death by her most trusted life long friend and business partner, Charles Hershel Alexander, grandson Christopher Shane Peveto, and best friend and cousin Mary Alice Cash Davis. She leaves behind a multitude of blessings in her children, Billy Wayne Peveto of Timpson, Charles David Alexander and wife Patti of George West, TX, and her daughter Teri Lea Alexander of Timpson. Her treasury of grandchildren who brought her endless hours of joy: Jason Peveto, Seth Alexander, Taylor Alexander, Kayla Faust, Victoria Mosby, Halea Mosby, Lauren Alexander and Joshua Alexander.

Her blessings were multiplied again by the addition of her great-grandchildren: Shane Peveto, Sky Peveto, Collin Alexander, Alexis Alexander, Chloe Stanley and Brittany Peveto and step great grandchild Khyle Busca.

A celebration of the life of T.P. Cockrell, Jr., 51 of St. Paul, Minnesota, formerly of Center, Texas, was held Monday, May 21, 2012 at Holcomb-Henry-Boom-Purcell Chapel in St. Paul, Minnesota.

T.P. passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2012 in St. Paul after a sudden illness. He was born August 14, 1960 in Nuremburg, Germany to T.P. Cockrell and Kyoko Seino. T.P. loved hunting, fishing, and working with wood and was a contractor by trade.

He was preceded in death by parents T.P. and Lillian Cockrell.

T.P. is survived by his wife, Dawn Tschida Cockrell; parents, Paul and Kyoko Giannandrea of Shelbyville; sisters/brothers-in-law Rosa (John) Askew of Center, Maria (Steven) Harkness of Shelbyville, Floye (Wayne) Parker of Center; Brothers/sisters-in-law Bill (Wanda) Cockrell of Jasper, Carlos (Karen) Gray of Center; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. T.P. also had an extensive number of friends in St. Paul that became his adopted family.

Joe Bennett Payne, age 64, of Etoile, Texas, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2012.

Mr. Payne was born April 25, 1948, in San Augustine County, Texas, as a son of the late Edgar Payne and Wynona Husband Payne. He had worked several years as a retired truck driver. Joe was a 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner.

He is survived by his son, Justin R. Payne and wife Misti of Etoile, Texas; Marita Payne Hester of Bonham, Texas, Texas; grandchildren, Hunter "Hercules" Payne of Etoile and Destynie Clemons and Gracie Hester, both of Bonham; brothers and sisters, Delores Payne Gage and husband Dale of Porter, Texas, David Glenn Payne and wife Gail of Woden, Texas, George Payne and wife Penney of Melrose, Texas, Rachel Elaine Figueroa of Austin, Texas, Steven E. Payne of Woden, Texas, and Roy Dale Payne and wife Rubena of Huntington, Texas; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are set for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel, located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches. Interment will follow with Masonic rites at Blue Springs Cemetery, located on FM 226 South in Etoile, Texas.

Born April 24, 1934, in Center, Texas, Jimmie Nell Beckham Lemons was the daughter of the late Victor and Macel (Tyer) Beckham. She was a graduate of Timpson High School and spent her adult years caring
for her family and loved ones.

Survivors include her daughter Michele Dawn Evans and husband Mark of Houston; son Billy Earl Eddison and wife Debra of Jacksonville, FL; brother Butch Beckham and wife LaNell of Timpson; special sisters Patricia Ford of Center, TX, and Joy McClaskey of Hurst, TX; grandchildren: Miranda, Angela, Crystal, Hunter, and Carlee; 8 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Darlie Rainey Wheeler, 59, of Center, passed away Friday, May 25, 2012 in Nacogdoches. She was born January 21, 1953 in Houston to Luther Partin and Bonnie Bean Partin. Mrs. Wheeler loved to fish, hunt and cook. She was of the Southern Baptist faith.

Life came to close on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at Nacogdoches Medical Center for Eric D. Garrett (Peter Rabbit), 42 of Center.

He was born on December 25, 1969 to the late Minnon Garrett Jr. and Mary L. Reed. Eric joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at an early age.

He leaves to cherish his memories, wife Sovia Garrett; two daughters, JaQuinthia A. Garrett Howard, and Quintay T. Rankin of Shreveport, Louisiana; three brothers, Melvin (Felicia) Jackson of Lufkin, Texas. Tony (Pam) Garrett of Tenaha, Texas, and Demetrius Mosley of Timpson, Texas; five sisters, Gloria Garrett of Center, Texas, Marvis (Roy) Riggans of Carthage, Texas, Machell (Michael) Hubbard of Center, Texas, Mary Garrett of San Augustine, Texas, and Roslyn Moore of Center, Texas; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Clifford Ray Williams Sr., 68, of Nacogdoches County passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at his residence.

Mr. Williams was born August 19, 1943, in New Gulf, Texas, as a son of Ervin Hiram Williams and Ruth Doveen Johnston Williams and had lived most of his life in the Houston and Nacogdoches areas.

With 30 years service, Clifford retired from Gulfex Inc., working as a pipefitter and supervisor. His co-workers at Gulfex were his second family. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as listening to music.

Survivors include his wife, Fay Williams of Nacogdoches; children, Gay Lynn Smith and husband Robert Parks of Mobile, Alabama, Clifford Ray Williams Jr. and wife Pam of Nacogdoches, Debra Fay Thompson and husband Will of Carthage, and Teresa Ann Williams of Nacogdoches; grandchildren, Michael Scott Smith of Lubbock, Lydia Joan Smith and Becky Raelynn Smith, both of Mobile, Terea Joann Young of Carthage, Ervin Hiram Williams and James Ray Williams, both of Nacogdoches; a great-granddaughter, Charlotte Covington of Carthage; brothers, Willie James Williams and wife Sharon and Ira Louis Williams and wife Johnette, all of Garrison; a sister, Audrey Oliver of Nacogdoches; and brothers-in-law, Thomas Orvin Matlock and wife Sue of Porter and James Ray Matlock of Timpson.

Mildred Rider “Mee Maw” Milford, born May 17, 1913 in Shelby County, Texas, a longtime Pasadena resident, then Pearland resident, went to be with her Lord on May 24, 2012. She died at her home in Pearland, Texas with family, close friends and her loyal chihuahua companion, Poco, attending at her side. She was happiest when surrounded by her family, friends, flowers and garden. Her self-sacrificing generous nature and wonderful sense of humor touched everyone fortunate enough to have known her.

George Henry Hutcherson, of Hallsville, Texas, went home to be with his Lord on May 20, 2012, at Good Shepherd Hospital.

He was born June 6, 1926, in Horatio, Arkansas. George was a great husband, father, brother, Grandpa, PePaw, friend, coach and teacher who was also known as "Mr. H." He will be missed by many.

George graduated from Timpson High School in 1943 at 16 years of age. He enlisted in the United States Marines right away. He celebrated his 18th birthday twice because he was crossing the International Date Line at the time. George served in the Pacific Theater on Saipan and Tinian in the Marianas. He enlisted in the Texas National Guard in 1949, and served five years total in the military.

After this discharge, he enrolled in University of Texas in 1949 and went with his childhood friend, Billy Hunt. George was a member of the freshman Longhorn football team that year, but was never able to play because of a shoulder injury. He transferred to Stephen F. Austin State Teachers College (then) and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in math and science. During this time, he was helping coach at Timpson High School. After graduation, he coached at Beckville for five years, also teaching sixth-grade science and math. He received his Masters of Education from SFA also, as well as his Superintendent certification. He moved to Carthage then, coaching and teaching seventh-grade math.

He met the love of his life, Donna Dean Clark, there at Carthage and they married in January 1959. They moved to Hallsville in 1968 and he taught there until his retirement, after 38 years of teaching, in May 1992. George loved life. He was a sports enthusiast, enjoying watching most any game. He played semi-pro baseball and coached all the sports in schools. He watched his sons participate in sports and his grandsons as well. He enjoyed square dancing and ballroom dancing. He enjoyed listening to gospel music and attending concerts. Above all, he was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Hallsville, serving in all capacities in his 43-year membership there. He devoted 20 years to serving on and leading mission teams, most of which were on the Navajo Reservation. He was a fine example of a Christian gentleman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Bertha Hutcherson; his siblings, William, Arthur and Frances Hutcherson Farmer; and his two daughters, Holly and Shela.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of 53 years, Donna Dean; his sons, Lamar and Patty Hutcherson of Magnolia, Texas, Michael and Leanne Hutcherson of Highland Village, Texas, and Mark and Charlotte Hutcherson of Deer Park, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Heather Lewis, Jennifer Harris, Jonathan Hutcherson, Lara Hutcherson, Amy Hutcherson, John Hutcherson, Grant Hutcherson, Ben Hutcherson, Brooksy Bresnen, Maurice Bresnen, Zachary Poon and Max Poon; his great-grandchildren, Taylor Harris, Cieara Hicks and Collin Hicks; special great-granddaughters, Amberlyn and Aubrie Carter and their father, Aaron Carter; and his faithful companion, Romeo. In addition, he is survived by his brother, Charles Hutcherson of Center; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jan and George Atkinson of Houston; nieces and nephews, Lois (Dan) Templin, Jennifer Atkinson, Geoff (Julianne) Atkinson, Jayne Crain, Penny Lynch, Lizann Burke, William (Charlene) Farmer and James (Kay) Farmer; first-cousin, Beth (Marion) Shepherd; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of friends and former students.

According to his wishes, George will be cremated and his ashes buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Timpson, Texas. There will be a celebration of life service at at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012, First United Methodist Church, Hallsville. There will be a visitation with the family after the service in the church fellowship hall.
The family would like to express its thanks to Good Shepherd Hospital and its staff, to Dr. Sharma, Texas Oncology and its staff and Heart'sWay Hospice and its staff. All of you took such great care of him and were so caring to him. God bless you.

James Burton Garner Jr. passed away May 15th in Denison, TX. James was born June 18, 1957 in Miami, Florida. He is survived by: his wife Susan of Sherman, TX; his Mother Bonlean Garner of Joaquin, TX; three daughters, Cherylnn Garner and husband Ronald Rodrigues of Nacogodoches TX, Brandy Berry and husband Tyron Hawkins of Carthage, TX, and Tiffany Estes and husband Mark of Joaquin, TX; one sister, Karen Clifton and husband Roger of Joaquin, TX; brothers, Tom Garner and wife Donna of Atlanta, GA, Sam Garner and wife Tammy of Joaquin, TX, Tim Garner of Center TX, and Raymond Garner of Joaquin, TX. At his request he will be cremated and a memorial will be held at a later date.

Keith Chumley, age 64, longtime resident of San Augustine, passed from this life in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 19, 2012, in San Augustine.

Keith was born on July 14, 1947, in San Augustine, Texas, to Corine (Isenblitter) Chumley and Earl Edward Chumley, Sr. He served in the Navy during Vietnam in the Sea Bees. He was on the Board of Directors for Texas Farm Bureau, Served on the Junior Livestock Committee, and was a member of the VFW, and DAV. He was a member of the Neuville Baptist Church.

Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2012, in the First Baptist Church, San Augustine, with Bro. Clint Hines, and Bro. Larry Byrd officiating. Interment will follow in the Chumley Cemetery in San Augustine County. Visitation will be Monday evening, May 21, 2012, from the hours of 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, 316 West Columbia Street, San Augustine, Texas 7972

Stone Haynes, age 86, of San Augustine, passed from this life on Thursday, May 17, 2012, in San Augustine after an extended illness.

Stone was born in Silsbee, Texas, to Odell and Hugh Malcom Haynes on June 11, 1925. He served in the Army during World War II, and was the owner of Haynes Construction Company. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the Pentecostal Church.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2012, in the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel, with interment to be in the Lott Cemetery in Sabine County, Texas. Officiating will be Rev. He was born September 26, 1930 in the Brady Community of Shelby County to Buck Madison Bittick and Murle Hamilton Bittick. Thomas Brady Arbuckle, age 81, of Hamilton, Texas, passed away May 14, 2012 in Hamilton, Texas.
Brady was born November 21, 1930 in Austin, Texas, to Lester Calvin and Annie Peterson Arbuckle. Brady served his Country with the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He worked as a Building Inspector for the University of Texas System and was an avid fan of the Texas Longhorns. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hamilton.

Brady married Clarlynn Terry on May 6, 1989, in Lindale, Texas. They have lived in Hamilton for 16 years.

He is survived by his wife, Clarlynn Arbuckle of Hamilton; son, Gene Arbuckle and wife Linda of Austin; step-sons, Jeff Jones and wife Kristy of Lindale and Jesse Jones and wife Tobi of Ft. Worth; step-daughter, Janet Fugler and husband Jimmy of Lindale; grandchildren, David Arbuckle, Lindy Arbuckle, Josh Jones, Jamin Jones, Allyson Jones, Erik Jones, Jaren Jones, JP Fugler, and Terri Gaslee and husband Jason; one great-grandson, Malakai Goslee; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Jack Kinman, 82, of Yarnell Community of Panola County, Texas will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mr. Kinman died Monday, May 14, 2012 peacefully at his home in Yarnell.

Mr. Jack Virgil Kinman was born January 21, 1930 in the Yarnell Community of Panola County, Texas. He was one of eight children born to the marriage of Grover Lee and Mamie Pearl Boyett Kinman He was raised and schooled in Yarnell later transferring to Carthage schools. He served his country through the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Jack worked as a truck driver owner and operator for Crest Molds since 1968. He married Paula Jean Hilbert November 2, 1970 and they celebrated 41 years of marriage. Mr. Kinman loved hunting, fishing and playing his guitar with Jack Kinman and the Country Boys. He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Ricky Lee Kinman, sisters, Christine Shytle, Bobbie Maynard and Faye Gentry, brothers, Garland, Paul and Sam Kinman.

Elouise Pratt Herndon passed away on May 12, 2012, at the age of 69. She was born on December 27, 1942 in Port Arthur, Texas to the late Randolph Oscar Pratt and Minnie Pratt.

Elouise is survived by her husband of 23 years Willie Herndon of Timpson, Texas; her daughter Tracy Smith and husband Jeff of Keller, Texas; and her daughter Kristine Price Dozier and husband Mike of Dallas, Texas; granddaughters Erin Smith and Anna Dozier; twin sister Louise Adams; brothers Randolph Oscar Pratt, Jr. and Richard E. Pratt.

A resident of Shelby County for more than 45 years, Elouise was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church in Timpson, Texas. She was a former member of First Baptist Church of Center, where she worked in the nursery. Recognizing her calling, she opened a popular home daycare where she proudly loved and taught children for many years. Above all, she loved being a mother.

Elouise took great pleasure from music, particularly listening to and singing gospel. She treasured her times traveling the country by car with her dearest husband Willie and genuinely appreciated every beauty of nature on earth.

Judge Bill Gaines, 88, of Center, passed away early Monday morning, May 7, 2012 at his home. He is survived by his wife, Portia; his daughter, Jeannie; his granddaughter, Emily Glass; his sister, Melba Scurlock and her husband, Ray; his sister-in-law, Patricia and her husband, Charlie; his brother-in-law, James Payne; nine nieces and nephews; his coffee club buddies, golfing buddies and everybody at the Center Police Department.

Judge Gaines was born July 21, 1923, in Beaumont, Texas. He graduated from Beaumont High School and served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He was the owner-operator of the White Auto Store in Center for many years, served as a Shelby County Justice of the Peace and was the Municipal Judge for the City of Center at the time of his death.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Tommy Ware, Jr., 73 of Center, died Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Shelby Regional Hospital. Funeral Services will be Saturday, May 5, 2012, at 1:30pm at East Liberty Baptist Church. Rev. Curtis Archie will be officiating.

Ibera “Doll” Stewart Kennon, age 102 of Center, Texas, passed away Wednesday, May 02, 2012 at the Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas.

Graveside services will be 2:30 pm, Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Bethel Cemetery in Center, Texas with her nephew, Bro Raiford Sharpton officiating. Funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 2:00p.m. to proceed to Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday evening from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Mangum Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ibera “Doll” Stewart Kennon was born April 21, 1910 in Shelby County to parents, Jordan David Stewart & Delilah Ann Josephine (Tindol) Stewart. She attended Clever Creek Baptist Church for many years. Mrs. Kennon was a homemaker. Mrs. Kennon lived in the Center/San Augustine area most of her life. In 2004 she moved to Houston to live with her son, Garland Kennon.

She is preceded in death by her parents, David & Josephine (Tindol) Stewart, Her husband of 56 years, Willie Edwin Kennon who died in 1984, as well as two Sons, Drue Edwin Kennon & Vance Kennon& one great-granddaughter, Lacie Cooper.

Funeral services for James William “Jimmy” Hopkins, 64, of Timpson, TX, will be held at 1:30 PM, Saturday, May 5, 2012, in Taylor Funeral Home Chapel, Timpson. Visitation for family and friends will be 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Friday, May 4, 2012, at Taylor Funeral Home. Mr. Hopkins passed away May 01, 2012, in Timpson.

Born May 17, 1947, in Austin, TX, James William Hopkins was the son of the late Selmer Elmer “Blacky” Hopkins and Leoma (Powers) Hopkins Neill. He was a graduate of Timpson High School and a truck driver and heavy equipment operator. Jimmy served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

Survivors include Theresa Nottingham Hopkins of Waco, TX; mother Leoma Neill of Timpson; daughters Johnnie Lynn Hopkins of Waco, Jodi Leigh Lehman of Las Vegas, NV, and Jamie Wolfe of Belleville, IL; son James Hopkins of Texarkana, TX; 13 grandchildren; stepmother Louise Hopkins; brothers Kennth Hopkins and David Hopkins; sister Carolyn Guillory; and nephews Phillip Hopkins of Luling, TX, and Richard Hattaway of Timpson.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his father Selmer Elmer “Blacky” Hopkins, stepfather “Goat” Neill, brother Gene Hopkins, and sister Bobbie Lynn Neill.

Kaufman “K.P.” Williams, Jr., 82, of Center, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Nacogdoches Medical Center.

Graveside Service will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Oaklawn Memorial Park with Tim Perkins officiating. Military service under the direction of the Local VFW Post #8904 and Masonic service under the direction of Sam Samford Lodge #149. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 2, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Mangum Funeral Home.

He was born June 18, 1929 in Shelby County to K. Pearl Williams, Sr. and Sweetie Inez Nail Williams. He served 20 years in the armed forces including a tour in Japan and is a veteran of the Vietnam War. After retiring from the military he served as a policeman in Center and later a deputy Sherriff in Shelby County. He was also a supervisor for MHMR for several years. He was a member of Hurst Street Church of Christ. A member of Masonic lodge 149 in Center. He was also a member VFW post 8904 in Center. He married Hazel Dean Williams December 2, 1947. They were married for 64 years.

He is preceded in death by his Parents, K. Pearl Williams, Sr. and Sweetie Inez Nail Williams, Brother Doyle Williams of Center, Two Sisters Mabel Creasy of Silsbee, Texas and Ethel Baldwin of Onalaska, Texas and Grandson Nathan Williams of Lufkin, Texas

Elbert Ray Hagler passed away Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the Medical Center. He was born on January 2, 1932 in Shelby County, Texas. He fought a long battle with Thyroid Cancer.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was an accomplished Carpenter and Job Superintendent for Herman Weber Construction, Bella Co. and Daniel’s Construction. He loved working at his farm in Shelby County raising cattle. He was a member of the Nederland Church of Christ since 1956. He and Sallie were married in this church on March 2, 1956 by Rev. Vincent Guarnere. During his retirement while living at his farm, he attended Antioch Church of Christ in San Augustine, Texas. Ray was also a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 1389 in Nederland, Carpenter’s Local 610, American Legion, Butler-Redd Post No. 493, and a 32nd Degree Endowed Member of the Galveston Scottish Rite.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland, Rev. Al Shaw officiating. Interment will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Patroon Cemetery in Patroon, Texas. A gathering of family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at the funeral home.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Thomas Hagler and wife, Leola Morton Hagler; brothers, Rodney Hagler and Charles Lamar Hagler; sister, Mary Byers Biggar; sister-in-law, Barbara Hagler, Susie Hagler and Julia Hagler. He is survived by his wife, Sallie; son, Darrell of Nederland; brothers, Thomas Hagler, Travis Hagler and wife, Omie; sister, Joy Hagler Morse and husband, Howard Morse and sister-in-law, Gwen Hagler, all of Vidor, Texas. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
