Ethel Lee Munn, 82, of Tenaha, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2013 at her residence. She was born July 5, 1930 in Dayton to Lester Lewis and Mable Ethel Burkheart. She was a member of Old Home Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 3, 2013 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center with Bro. Hollis Bass officiating. Interment will follow at Jackson Cemetery in Joaquin.

Joyce Florence Malone Bowen passed away on January 30, 2013 at Twin Lakes Nursing Care Center in San Augustine, Texas.
Joyce Bowen was born on July 1, 1921 in Dimmit, Texas to Rev. Preston and Sophia McMullan Florence. During her professional life, she traveled extensively for both business and pleasure, making lifelong friendships throughout the world.
Joyce was a talented musician, who enjoyed playing the piano, accordion and singing in church choirs. As a child, she delighted in joining her father, a Methodist Circuit Riding Preacher on his regularly scheduled Gospel Visits to jails and prisons across the dusty plains of West Texas. After her fathers jailhouse sermons, Baby Joyce brought the gospel to inmates and guards alike with her lively and heartfelt accordion renditions of old fashioned hymns and long remembered songs of praise. Their visits were much anticipated, and her captive audience was always very appreciative of her music and her flashy accordion with the small diamond placed proudly in the middle of a genuine ivory key!
Joyce majored in music at Texas Womens College in Denton, Texas. She left college before graduation to follow her new husband, Sam Malone (locally known as Ramblin Sam), when he enlisted in the Marine Corps at the beginning of WW II.
Joyce moved to San Augustine in 1992 following the death of her second husband, Ray Bowen, of Lubbock, Texas. Shortly after arriving in her new home, she became an active and enthusiastic volunteer in the San Augustine Care and Share program. Perhaps, one of her more interesting Care and Share duties was that of teaching English as a Second Language to non-English speaking Hispanic students. The fact that she did not speak or read Spanish did not seem to deter her efforts in any way.
Joyce is survived by; daughter, Samye Johnson and husband Tom and son, Mike Malone and wife, Billie, all of San Augustine, Texas; six grandchildren; Michael Malone and wife Jodi, Joy Malone Kling, and husband Jeremy, Christy Johnson, Jodi Johnson, Rick Russell and wife Sandi and David Russell and wife Lisa; and eight great-grandchildren. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Dan Max Florence.
Following cremation, her remains will be interred in a private family graveside service to be held at a later date.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Care and Share or the First Methodist Church flower fund.
The family of Joyce Bowen would like to extend a very special thanks to Dr. John and Sharon Oglesbee for the medical care and personal kindness they showed our mother during her years in San Augustine. They are good friends and a blessing to our family and the community.
We would also like to thank Twin Lakes Care Center and their wonderful staff for the special attention they gave to Joyce during her residency there. We are deeply appreciative of Mother's very special best pal and Twin Lakes roommate, Maurine Mitchell. She could not have wished for a more compassionate companion or dear friend.

After a long struggle on this earth, Geneva Hough Hutto went home to be with her Lord on January 29, 2013. Born September 15, 1929, in the Caledonia community of Rusk County, TX, she was the daughter of the late G. B. “Bill” Hough and Anzie Weeks Hough.
Geneva Hutto was a hairdresser for 35 years and a correspondent for the Timpson News for many years. She was a member of Timpson Highway Tabernacle. Geneva enjoyed fishing, gardening, and helping others in her life, especially with her cooking. Geneva loved her family unconditionally and loved to give them orders, which they always obeyed. She was the family drill sergeants. “Memaw” loved all of her grandkids. Since Frankie was the first grandchild, he and his Memaw had a unique relationship like no other.
Survivors include her daughters Janis Bass and husband Glyn and Billie Jean Williamson, all of Timpson; dearest nephew Horace Wayne Bell of Timpson and nephew Bill Otis of Lake Charles, LA; brother R. K. Hough and wife Shirley of Murvaul, TX; sister Linda Fay Harris of Timpson; grandchildren: Frankie Baker and Pam Yarbrough, Shadow Rhodes and husband Jason, Dusty Kruse and husband Lance, Doug Milford and wife Jennifer, John Williamson and wife Desiree, and Dea Sample and husband Brian.
Also surviving are 14 great grandchildren: Morgan Baker, Raina Baker, Ryan Baker, Makayla Baker, Tanner Murdock, Layci Jo Sample, Hope Milford, Conner Miflord, Sage Taylor, Shelby Brock, Johna Kruse, Tryton Kruse, Ceale Kruse, and Gavyn Williamson; 2 step grandchildren: Presley Slatter and Bradon Slatter; 4 great great grandchildren: Ryder Baker, Kane Baker, Kase Baker, and Avery Baker; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Edward Darvin "E.D." Bryant, age 88, of Etoile, Texas, passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at an area hospital.
Mr. Bryant was born Jan. 7, 1925, to parents Bud Bryant and Annie Bell (Moore) Bryant and was a native and former resident of San Augustine County, Texas. He had lived in Etoile for the past several years and was a member of the United Pentecostal Church.
He was retired from the trucking industry. Mr. Bryant was a World War II veteran, serving his country with the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army.
His survivors include his son, Larry Edward Bryant of Etoile; a grandson, Teddy Schneider of Houston, Texas; a granddaughter, Sarah Schneider of Houston, Texas; and a sister, Tempie Bardwell of Friendswood, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Agnes Dorothy Bryant, on Oct. 23, 2012; and his daughter, Diana Faye Schneider, in 1988.
Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Etoile United Pentecostal Church, located at 168 Hwy. 103 in Etoile, Texas, with Pastor Glenn D. Morton officiating. Interment will follow at Simpson Campground Cemetery, located on County Road 411 in Woden, Texas.
Visitation will be held Saturday at the church, beginning at 12:30 p.m.

Billy Gene Mason, Sr., 86, of Joaquin, passed away Monday, January 28, 2013 in Shelbyville. He was born March 11, 1926 in Laneville to J.D. (Pap) Mason and Epsie Grisham Mason.
Billy Mason, Sr., also known as “Mr. Bill, Big Bill or PawPaw” married Deva Ray Smith in September of 1944 and they, along with his brother-in-law, Harvey Burkett and sister-in-law, Dessie Burkett Kale traveled across the states of Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico. His main occupation for most of his life was as a foreman in the pipeline industry. He was a developer and pioneer of many of the early pipe coating processes. He eventually returned to Shelby County and served as County Commissioner of Precinct 3 for two years. Even years later, he returned and continued to serve his community as a heavy equipment operator for Shelby County Precinct 3 up until the hour he was called home.
PawPaw lived by the motto of “never quit wiggling” and was always busy doing something constructive. He truly loved and adored the great outdoors. When he was not hard at work, he was hard at play doing anything to spend his days outside. He loved horses, gardening, hunting, fishing and family. He was always accompanied by his children or grandchildren taking time with each one to impart a life lesson along the journey. He will be deeply and sincerely missed by many.
A special thank you to all the County employees who watched over and took care of Mr. Bill. We love each and every one of you.

James Darrell “Sonny” Campbell, 77, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013.
“Sonny” was born November 1, 1935, in Shelbyville, Texas, to Jim Fred Campbell and Callie Furlow Campbell. He has been a resident of Port Arthur since 1957 and retired from Southern Union Gas as a field supervisor. He was a member of Port Arthur Masonic Lodge #1264 and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Campbell, brothers Marshall, Chester, and Robert Campbell, and sister Nina.

Mrs. Lucette Neal Boyett, age 97, was born July 8, 1915, in San Augustine, Texas to the late John and Kate (Meador) Williams. She passed away in a local nursing home in San Augustine on January 27, 2013.
Mrs. Boyett was a member of the First United Methodist Church in San Augustine. For 40 years she was the owner of a "Country Store" near her home.

Born September 20, 1922, in Shelby County, Texas, Naomi Lilly Hendrick was the daughter of the late
Ellis H. Lilly and Savannah Yarbrough Lilly. She was a graduate of Timpson High School and a member of Buena Vista Baptist Church. She and Leonard John Hendrick were married May 29, 1942. Naomi Hendrick was an industrious homemaker caring for her family and still finding time to sew for the public. Not only did she enjoy sewing, she also was busy quilting, crocheting, gardening, canning, and tending the cows.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four sisters: “Little” Lois Towns, “Big” Lois Powers, Laura Hairgrove and Patsy Hairgrove; four brothers: Lacy Lilly, E.H. Lilly, Adlee Lilly, and Lester Hairston; and husband of 53 years Leonard J. Hendrick.
Survivors include two sons John E. Hendrick of Timpson, Texas; Benjamin T. Hendrick and wife Nancy of Slidell Louisiana; daughter Mary Jo Rogers and husband Vernis D. Billie J. Matlock, age 83, passed away Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at her residence in Nacogdoches.
Mrs. Matlock was born Aug. 28, 1929, in Shelbyville as a daughter of Charles Austin Harbison and Willie Jasper Smith Harbison.

Novis M. Jones was called by her Heavenly Father January 26, 2013, in Tyler, Texas, at the age of 91. She was born to Henry Bowlin and Myra Whitson Bowlin December 8, 1921. She will be remembered for her poetry having written a poem for many occasions. She was a life-long resident of the Buena Vista and New Prospect communities having moved to Paxton and then to Carthage, Texas in her latter years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Jones; her parents, Henry and Myra Whitson Bowlin; her borther, Bevie Lee Bowlin; and her sister, Ruby Towns.
She is survived by her daughter, Sue Jones Bell, Tyler; son, Biff H. Jones, Carthage; grandchildren Bill Bell, Belinda Cook, Brenda Shepherd, Barbara Powers, and Beth Calhoun, Tyler; 15 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Loyce Mask Deloney, age, 94, of Center will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 28, 2013 at Mangum Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Don Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park, she will now rest beside her beloved husband, Lewis Deloney and their son, Charles Deloney.
Mrs. Deloney was born May 2, 1918 in the Brady Community in Shelby County, the only daughter of Rev. & Mrs. D.O. Mask. She was a graduate of Center High School & Stephen F. Austin University and taught school in Shelby, San Augustine & Panola Counties until her marriage to Lewis M. Deloney. After World War II the family settled in Carthage, Texas where Mr. Deloney was employed by United Gas and Loyce taught school for several years. During the Carthage years the family was active in the First United Methodist Church, school activities and scouting. Loyce was also a member of the Carthage Garden Club; these were happy years for the family. Mrs. Deloney was devoted to her family, loved to cook, garden and teach young children. She worked devotedly in her church, Frist United Methodist Church for many years. She also enjoyed working with the cub scouts & the Carthage Garden Club.
Loyce was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. & Mrs. D.O. Mask, her husband, Lewis Deloney & their son, Charles L. Deloney who died at the age of 46 after a courageous battle with cancer. The Deloney’s never fully recovered from this loss. She is also preceded in death by Brother, Bernard Mask & wife, Joyce.

Valton Greer, 75, of Giddings, Texas and formely of Center, Texas passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2013 in Giddings, Texas. He was born August 24, 1937 in Shelbyville, Texas and was the son of Leo Greer and Lorine Gaddis Greer. He was a retired welder.

James Johnstone, 75, of Sante Fe New Mexico, passed away on January 3rd, 2013. He was born and raised in Center Texas, graduate d from Center High School in 1956 and Baylor University in Waco where he received a degree in Mathematics. He married Barbara Carey Johnstone, August 13th, 1960.
James enriched many lives and lived a very full life himself. He had several exciting careers that started with computers in the early 1960s that lead him to participating in the Gemini and Apollo Missions at the Johnson Space Center in Texas. This was followed by many years of international travel in the 1970s for IBM helping to deliver computer technology in Russia, China, Indonesia, and many other countries for the purpose of oil exploration. After a long career with IBM he retired and started a new career as a financial advisor for Smith Barney helping countless people manage and grow their portfolio. In addition, James became active in the film industry as an extra and was cast with a speaking part in the movie Wild Hogs earning him Screen Actors Guild (SAG) membership. In recent years James continued his film career but also volunteered with AARP for helping others file and maximize their tax returns. However his biggest success was his character, his friendship, his love and generosity he gave to his family and friends.
James is survived by his wife, Barbara Carey Johnstone and sons Grant and Kyle Johnstone as well as seven grandchildren (in order of age): Sarah (19); Adam (18); Ruth (12); Rachel (9); Luke (8); James (4); Paul (3).
Funeral arrangements will be held in Center Texas with visitation Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, 12:00 PM at Mangum Funeral Home and a Service Jan. 27th, 2013, 1:30 p.m. at Mangum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial to follow at Mt Pleasant Cemetery in Center.
A memorial fund has been set up for James through the Shelby County Historical Commission. The Historical Commission will keep an account of all donations and acknowledge the donation with a receipt to the donor. Richard Joseph Lerro Sr. died January 20, in Tyler, Texas, with family members by his side.
The World War II veteran was preparing for his 95th birthday at the time of his death. He witnessed most of the 20th century, surviving perils in childhood and in war, brushing history in 1963, and seeing half the world on an 8th grade education.
As a young boy he spent several years in an orphanage near Philadelphia. His grandmother, Justina Camarrota Lerro, found him and raised him in a family-owned butcher shop at 1024 South 9th Street in Philadelphias Little Italy neighborhood. He attended Our Lady of Good Counsel School, completing the 8th grade, and helped his uncles sell vegetables from carts in front of the butcher shop.
He married Caroline Fusco at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in 1939 and had a son in 1941 while working at the Pennsylvania Shipyards.
During World War II Lerro served on a destroyer in the U.S. Navys Construction Battalion, the Sea Bees. He was stationed in the Philippines, Japan, and finally in Attu, Alaska, where he would occasionally wave to Soviet submariners who surfaced off the coastline to lie on deck sunning themselves.
He remained in the Navy Reserves, visiting Boston, Cuba, and Italy. Later in life he would say, By the time I was 40 I had seen half the world.
After the Navy, while serving as a Harris County Sheriffs Deputy in Houston, he met another young divorcee, Myrtle Lee Metcalf. He liked Italian operas. She preferred country music. They wed in 1955 and moved to Dallas where they had a son in 1958. Myrtle launched the Household Employment Agency and Rick worked as a maintenance man for Standard Brands Foods and St. Regis Paper Company. He remained a part-time butcher throughout his adult life.
In the early 1960s the Lerros were featured in Life magazine when their pet alligators got loose and roamed their Dallas neighborhood. Dallas soon passed an exotic pets ordinance.
In 1963 he and his wife were interviewed by FBI agents following the Kennedy assassination after agents discovered that the Lerros were close friends and business associates of Jack Ruby, who shot and killed Lee Harvey Oswald. While in prison Ruby corresponded with the Lerros, once writing that his murder of Oswald was a spur of the moment decision and not pre-meditated.
In 1968 Lerro was diagnosed with colorectal cancer which was surgically removed and never returned.
Lerros first marriage to Caroline Fusco ended in divorce, however, the two remained friends until her death.
Richard Joseph Lerro is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Myrtle Lerro and his daughter Betty Powell. He is survived by sons Richard Joseph Lerro, Jr. and his wife Judy of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Richard Marcus Lerro and his spouse Terrence Onderick of Washington, D.C., his granddaughter and caretaker, Jackie Cannon and her husband Kyle of Tyler, Texas. His surviving grandchildren are Robert Lerro and his wife Cheryl, and Julie Williams and husband Lawrence of Florida, Stephen Lerro and wife Phylis of Tennessee, and Ashley David Harmon and wife Rachel of Texas. Great grandchildren include Jonathan Cannon, Michael Cannon, Karl Cannon, Mason Harmon, Jacob Harmon, Ashlyn Harmon, Billie Lerro, Tyler Williams, Brianna Williams, Aaron Lerro, Corey Lerro, Sarah Lerro, Collin Lerro, and Kathryn Lerro. Great-great grandchildren include Siearra Cannon and Cauline Cannon, and surviving his son-in-law is Jerry Powell of San Augustine.
A private wake is planned for the residents and staff of Providence Park Rehabilitation Center in Tyler. A private funeral mass is planned at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Chandler, Texas.

William Rial “Bill” Taylor, Sr., 84, of Timpson, TX, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013, in Garrison, TX. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at First Baptist Church, Garrison, TX, with Rev. John McGuire officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Timpson. Visitation for family and friends will be 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Monday, January 21, at Taylor Funeral Home, Timpson.
Born May 19, 1928, in Timpson, TX, William Rial “Bill” Taylor, Sr., was the son of the late Thomas Edgar “Ed” Taylor and Harriett Cassie Clements Taylor. He was a graduate of Timpson High School and Stephen F. Austin State University and served his country in the U.S. Army. He and Charlotte McMillan of Garrison were married August 23, 1949, and enjoyed fifty-one years together until her death on January 01, 2001. Bill then moved from Timpson to Garrison to be near his sons.
Bill Taylor truly loved his hometown of Timpson. After teaching math in several East Texas schools, he returned to Timpson in the mid 1950’s to work for his dad and in 1959, he became a licensed funeral director. Bill also owned and operated Bill’s Hardware in Timpson. In 1967 he bought the funeral home and spent the next 40 years serving the families of Timpson. Bill was a member of First United Methodist Church, Timpson, a member of the board of trustees of Timpson Independent School District, charter member of Timpson Quarterback Club, and a member of American Legion Post 90 of Timpson.
Bill’s great joy was his family. He enjoyed time spent on his farm in the Rose Hill community, especially deer hunting with his sons and their friends. Good times were also enjoyed at the fish camp on the Sabine River.
Surviving Bill are sons William Rial Taylor, Jr. and wife Cindy of Garrison and Bret Taylor of Garrison; also former daughter-in-law Rachelle Taylor of Dayton, TX; grandchildren: William Rial Taylor, III, and wife Taryn, Chase and wife Abby, Rialie Jo, Bret Clements, Jr. “BC.”, Dylan, Toby, Roxie, and Sage Taylor; step grandchildren: Brandi Eddings and husband Nash and Kyle Lee and and wife Brooke; great grandchildren: Kinleigh and Charlee Taylor and another one on the way; and step great grandchildren: Averi and Maddi Eddings.
In addition to his parents, Bill Taylor was preceded in death by wife Charlotte McMillan Taylor, and brother Thomas E. “Ted” Taylor.

He loved his patrons and considered each dog as part of the family. His smile and outgoing personality will be missed by many.

Born July 13, 1918, in the Corinth Community near Timpson, TX, Alta Milford Hudson was the daughter of the late Flem and Annie (Bussey) Milford. She was married to the late Lester Hudson, and they owned and operated Fat’s Tackle Box in Timpson for many years. She was a member of Corinth Missionary Baptist Church and spent much of her time caring for her family and friends.

Mrs. Pinkston was an elementary teacher for CISD for many years, later being employed at The Champion Newspaper and she was also the author of several books detailing the history of Shelby County. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Center and attended the Rachel Sunday Class and also a member of the Beta Sigma Phi.
She is preceded in death by her Parents, Henry and Villa Cariker, Husband, Bob Pinkston, Son, Bobby Pinkston and Sister, Lois Land.

W.R. was born to Elma (Lakey) Langston and Jewel Langston on January 20, 1924, in Port Arthur, Texas. He served in the United States Air Force as a Instructor, and was employed as a Pilot working for Corporate and the Saudi Arabian Airlines, and TWA Airlines. He was a member of the Church of Christ in League City.

Emmarie was born on August 11, 2005, and Chloe was born on May 15, 2007, both in Mt. Pleasant, Texas to their parents, Richard Adams and Dawn Wiggins Adams. They both are resting in their Lord and Savior’s arms in Heaven.
Emmarie was a princess. She loved playing dress up in the pretty princess clothes, tiaras, jewelry and shoes. She liked playing with the fairy tale carriage and horse, the life size dolls and everything else from the princess collection. She was a unique 2nd grader who had a wonderful imagination. Emmarie had made her profession of faith at a young age. She liked listening to contemporary praise and worship music with Lydia Stanley being her favorite artist. Emmarie also loved for her daddy to sing her some of her favorite Christian songs and enjoyed her dance classes and the friends she had made there.
Chloe aka Coco-Roo was considered the little monkey. She was full of life, preferring to run instead of walk, loved to climb, jump, swing, twirl and all other activities that little girls love to do. Her Papaw Adams actually taught her to spell her first word, which was WALK. She was very strong willed and liked to boss her big sister. Chloe loved her big sister and did everything she did. She loved dolls and stuffed animals and enjoyed dance class with Emmarie.
Both girls were home schooled and attended Sunday school classes at Trinity Baptist Church.
Emmarie and Chloe are survived by their parents, Richard and Dawn Adams of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; their grandparents, Melvin and Jean Adams of Nacogdoches; great-grandmothers, Opal Adams and Pauline Hicks; and one uncle, Ken Adams; and aunt and uncle, Ralph and Darlene Hicks of Nacogdoches.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Tucker, Bruce Huber, Frank Adams, Jack Thrapp, Daniel Alvarenga, Rick Autrey, Carl Partin and James Jennings.

Emma Candace Milford was born in Alto, Texas on December 23, 1915 to Sidney Marvin Ramsey and Florence Valeta Hearne Ramsey. The Lord called her home on January 15, 2013 at the age of ninety-seven.
Emma was one of nine children: Lavennia, or Sis as she was called, Roy, Troy, James, Grace, Avis, Margie, and Alma. Sis’ daughter, Betty, lived with the family her entire childhood and was more like a sister than a niece.
Emma married Arthur Milford March 1, 1934 and they spent 57 years together until the Lord called Arthur home October, 1991. They had three living children, James Harold, Linda and Judy. Glenda being the first was stillborn. They had eight grandchildren: Ricky, Tracy, Darren, Marty, Tammy, Jeff, Stephen and Nathan. Emma’s children are so proud of having been raised by Christian parents who carried them to church and taught them to love and trust in the Lord.
After Arthur’s death, Emma moved from the farm to the senior apartments in town. Here she spent the next ten years living next to other seniors who became her dear friends. They enjoyed sharing their baked goods and working their flower gardens and just visiting with each other. Emma suffered a broken hip and was out for a while, but soon came back doing what she loved best, cooking and sharing with the ones who were shut in. She went back to picking up their mail and taking it to them. She was active until her late eighties, and still attending the Shady Grove Methodist Church until she fractured her back and spent the rest of her life in a nursing home.
If Emma had a hobby, I guess it was cooking. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed sharing her baked goods with friends and family. You were always welcome at her table, if for a meal or just some good homemade cookies or pie. She always said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive,” and that she did. She gave of herself and her love all the days of her life. I think it would be safe to say she left this world loved by all who knew her.
Survivors include son James H. Milford and wife Jean of Longview, TX; daughters Linda Askins and husband Charles of Timpson and Judy Ramsey husband Ken of Timpson; grandchildren: Ricky, Tracy, Darren, Marty, Tammy, Jeff, Stephen and wife Chrissy, and Nathan and wife Hannah; great grandchildren: Conner, Dustin, Amanda and husband Val, Cody and wife Ciara, Chris, Blake, David, Doug, Gunnar, Gavin, Morgan, Paige, Taylor, David, and Tristan; great great grandson Trip.
Also surviving are sisters Margie Childs and husband Terrell, Avis Stamps, and Alma Bridwell; niece Betty Parker; sisters-in-law Jackie Ramsey and Carmen Milford; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 17, 2013, at Taylor Funeral Home Chapel, Timpson, with Bro. Ronnie Sowell officiating. Interment will follow in Corinth Cemetery, Timpson. Visitation for family and friends will begin at 9:30 AM on Thursday and continue until service time.

C. D. was born June 29, 1935 in Center, Texas to the late Arthur D. and Cora McKenzie Youngblood. He married Jennie Lee Tidwell on January 13, 1973 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. C. D. and Jennie Lee owned and operated Jennie Lee Catfish Restaurant in Stephenville from 1985 until 1997. He was a member of the Baptist Church, and has lived in Stephenville since 1985; moving here from Dardanelle, Arkansas.

Paralee Evans, age 83, of Fairfield, passed from this life on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, in Fairfield in Freestone Co.
Paralee was born March 21, 1929 in Pert, TX Anderson Co. She was the Daughter of Henry U. Champion and Minnie Alma Ferguson Champion.
Ms. Evans was an officer manager for Lee Optical in the Richmond/Rosenberg TX area. After she retired in 1984 she and her husband T.J. Evans moved back to her home in San Augustine where she worked for the San Augustine ISD. She later moved to Lufkin. She loved gardening, sewing, crocheting, cooking, and most of all, being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Funeral Services will be held on 3 p.m. Sunday, January 13, 2013, in the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel, with interment following in the Liberty Hill Cemetery in San Augustine.

He attended Logansport schools and was a longtime truck driver for Sand Hill. “Road Hog”, as he was known to his friends, enjoyed hunting, riding his 4-wheelers, motorcycles and spending time with his friends and family.

She has been a resident of Tenaha for over 50 years and was well known for her chocolate chip cookies, which she often delivered to brighten peoples’ days. Fern Bruner Bush died at age 98, in Ruston, Louisiana, on January 8, 2013 Born in Smith County Texas, on February 26, 1914, she was the daughter of Elzy Bruner and Myrtle Hollis Bruner, the fourth of seven children. Her three brothers and three sisters have all predeceased her.
Growing up in Mineola, Texas, in a large family with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins nearby, she developed a love of family, family gatherings, and an interest in people. Her marriage to Haley Bush, who she called "Bush," brought her into another large and extended East Texas family that she enjoyed throughout her life. They built a home in Mineola, and their three children, two daughters and a son, were born there. When her husband's job transfers required moving, first to Longview, Texas, and then to Shreveport, Louisiana, she welcomed the moves, and settled into a life focused on home and family, church, and friends. She liked to cook, and her peach cobblers, in particular, were generally acknowledged to be "the best ever." Shortly before his retirement, her husband became ill and she became a widow at age 52, just one month before the birth of her first grandchild.
With the encouragement of friends, she worked as a sales person in locally-owned shops, first in women's clothing and then jewelry. She often filled spare time with projects that ranged from refinishing furniture to quilting and other needlework. But one of her greatest pleasures was rocking her grandchildren and great grandchildren when they were babies, and she took advantage of many opportunities to do that. Eventually, she moved to Van, Texas, to be near her sisters, and later as her health declined, to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and then to Ruston, Louisiana, where she had the help of her daughters and son.
In spite of her memory loss and declining health, she kept some of her quick wit and sense of humor. At a celebration of her 98th birthday, for example, when a daughter asked if she knew how old she was, she said, "No' When asked if she would like to be told, she said, "Yes, Very quietly!"
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 11, 2013 at Corinth Missionary Baptist Church in Timpson and a visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the funeral service at Corinth Cemetery in Timpson.
She is survived by three children, five granddaughters, and twelve great-grandchildren: Beverly Bush

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Each summer she enjoyed attending the Mt. Olive Cemetery Homecoming. The true joy in her life were her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Born June 24, 1952, in Jasper, TX, Wendell Scott was the son of the late Alvin E. “Bo” Scott and Joyce Keating Scott. He graduated from Timpson High School in 1971 and served his country in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War. He and Thelma Hutto were married on March 29, 1975, in Timpson. Wendell worked for many years as a foreman with Southern Pacific Railroad.

Michael Lane Cox, 41, went to be with the Lord after a lengthy illness on Saturday, January 5, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital in Houston.
He was born on December 7, 1971, to his parents, Lane Cox and Carolyn Meador Cox.
Michael was married to his wife Kimberly Birdwell Cox for 22 years. Together they had two children, Kailyan Laine Cox, 16, and Kade Michael Cox, 10. He is also survived also by his parents, Lane and Carolyn Cox; sister and brother-in-law, Sherri and Brady Taylor of Woden; aunts and uncles, Marvis and Gary Johnson of Nacogdoches, Lloyd and Brenda Cox of Lufkin, Charles Wayne and Marsha Meador of Melrose, Jerry and Tracy Meador of Melrose, Larry Meador and Cyndi of Huntington.
Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gwen and Charles Meador and Delma and Elton Cox.
Michael's years of work in his family's logging business, working with his grandpa and uncles, meant more to him than any career path he had followed.
He loved to be the center of attention and would do anything to help anyone. This has been a long journey, but near the end he found comfort in his relationship with God.

Mrs. Pauline Moore Pool, age 98, a longtime resident of East Texas, passed away Friday, January 4, 2013, in Lufkin.
She was born June 16, 1914, in Teague, Texas, to parents, Rev. James Thomas Moore, Sr. and Lyda Ethel Ford Moore. Pauline lived in several Texas towns while growing up as her father was a Methodist minister. She graduated from high school in Center, Texas. She and her husband Lester operated Pool's Pharmacy for a number of years.
Pauline and Lester were members of First Methodist Church for many years, where she was active in the Women's Missionary Society, taught children's Sunday School classes and participated in their annual summer Vacation Bible Schools. A talented musician, she played both pipe organ and piano.
Her survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Weldon Alders of Midway, Texas; grandchildren, Leslie Alders Shatto and Michael W. Alders; and a great-granddaughter, Lauren Shwarts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester R. Pool, on September 11, 1985. Pauline moved to the Pinecrest Methodist Retirement Community in Lufkin in 2004, where she resided until her death.
Funeral services have been set for 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at The First Methodist Church Chapel, located at 201 E. Hospital Street, Nacogdoches, with the Rev. Christie Hale officiating. Louise Brown was born on September 20, 1914 in Lafayette, Louisiana and died on January 5, 2013 at the Holiday Nursing Home in Center, Texas. She was married to the “love of her life”, Hollis Brown for over 39 years. Louise was preceded in death by her loving husband, Hollis, her parents Noel Alexander Magnon & Marie Guidry Magnon of Lafayette, LA.
Louise was also blessed enough to have been raised with 9 other siblings, with whom have all preceded her in death, and they were: Wallace, Orran, Cleveland & George Magnon, Marie Martin, Blanche Castille, Birdie Ferguson, and Ruby Bajat. Her life continued to be blessed by (33) thirty three first generation nieces & nephews however; there were an additional 4 generations of family members at the time of her death. There were a few people that were more like her children than her nieces & nephews, and they are: William Garmany of Houston, TX, Nancy Bajat Babineaux of Jacksonville, FL, Ronnie Magnon of Ocala FL, Burton Brown of Center, TX, Maggie McKay of Lebanon MO, Trey Bajat of Carencro, LA, and the late Burton Garmany of Logansport, LA.
For over (50) fifty years, Louise was blessed to have Odessa Link in her life. Odessa was very near & dear to her heart as any daughter could have been, and Louise loved her as a daughter.
Louise was a very devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Center, Texas, where she was an active member in the Golden Harvest Club, the Women’s Missionary Union, and the Conway Sunday School Class for over 40 years.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to the Golden Harvest Club or the Conway Sunday School Class at the First Baptist Church of Center in her name.

Born October 7, 1926, in the Waterman Community of Shelby County, Texas, Dorothy Faye Hendrick Pate was the daughter of the late Elzie and Susie Anna (Green) Hendrick. She was married to Arvel Pate on December 20, 1941, in Center, TX. Dorothy was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
Dorothy and Arvel lovingly reared five boys and four girls. Dorothy also found time for gardening flowers and vegetables. Being blessed with a “green thumb,” her children said she could even grow ivy on a rock or in the middle of a desert. But the main focus of her life was caring for Bubba, and her other children loved her for that.
Survivors include her sons David Pate and wife Debra, Danny Pate and wife Sue, and Timmy Pate and wife Cheryl, all of Timpson, and Jeff Pate and wife Cynthia of Kosse, TX; daughters Arlene Horton and husband Hal of Timpson, Susan Naron and husband Joe of Nacogdoches, Elaine Parker of Nacogdoches, and Pam Faussett and husband Jimbo of Timpson; sister Ada Essery of Timpson; 18 grandchildren; and 34 great grandchildren.

Interment will follow in the Antioch Cemetery in Houston County. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 4th at the funeral home.
Mrs. Cain was born July 26, 1961 in Lufkin, Texas, and died Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at her residence. She was member of the Joaquin High School Class of 1979. She was a member of the Christian Life Center in Nacogdoches.
Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Mitzi and Michael Norton and Ashley Faye Case, all of Nacogdoches; son, Evan D. Cain of Lufkin; grandchildren, Hailey, Haiden, and Hagan Norton; parents, Jerry D. and Joy (Kelsey) Pinner of Lufkin; brother, Ray Lynn Pinner of Lufkin; sister, Jerry Gail Pinner of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Michael Cain and Gary Case.
Pallbearers will be Joey Landers, Chase Aldredge, Dylan Pinner, Colyn Pinner, Logan Pinner and Landon Pinner.

Helen Morgan, age 60, entered into rest in San Augustine on December 29, 2012. She was born in Houston on September 4, 1952, to the late Sylvester J. and Christine (Gurney) Moszkowicz.
Mrs. Morgan served her Lord in St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lufkin. She worked in the accounting section for local banks.
She is survived by her husband Thomas Randy Morgan of Broaddus; son Randy Thomas Morgan and wife Jennifer Christi of Broaddus; grandchildren Robert Thomas, Randy Wayne, Riley William, and Ryder Sylvester; sister Dorothy Summers of Porter; brother Dominik Moszkowicz of Lissie, Texas; along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Sylvester and Christine Moszkowicz.
A Mass service will be held Friday, January 4, 2013, 10:00 A.M., St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Lufkin, with Father Francis O'Dowell officiating. A Rosary will be held Thursday, January 3, 2013, 6:00 p.m. at the church with visitation with the family following. Burial will be in the Broaddus Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
Pallbearers inlclude Robert Thomas Morgan, Randy Wayne Morgan, Arthur Ehmling, Larry Derkowski, John Allbritton, Bryan Moszkowicz, Daniel Moszkowicz, and Bradley Laskowski.

Dorothy Lowe (Culbert), 79 of Highlands TX, passed peacefully from this life, in her home, the night of December 28th after a long battle with lung cancer. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers during the last days of her life.
Dorothy was born in Westchester, New York to Robert & Ida Culbert, but has been a Texan since 1976.
As an active member of Living Word Church, she continually found ways to serve God. Dorothy’s bible was never far from her. She loved to write scriptures and come up with new ideas/crafts for her Sunday school class. Her most cherished moments in life however, was the time spent with her grandchildren & great-grandchildren! Her hobbies included: crafts, games shows, baking, gardening, and crossword puzzles.
Dorothy is survived by one brother Robert Culbert (Karen).
Three children (and spouses): Fred Lowe, Gerald Lowe (Susan) and Joseph Lowe (Melissa); Thirteen grandchildren (and spouses): Samantha Haas (BJ), Jackie Haas (Jay), Jessica Haas (Steve), Erica Haas, Crystal Lucky, Kristen Elliot (James), Michael Lowe, Timothy Lowe, Leah Williams (Randy), Nekayah Spence (Carl), Freddie Lowe, Christopher Lowe, & Robert Martin.

Friends and family will gather for a memorial service on Saturday, January 5th, 2012 at 12:00 at the Living Word Church in Highlands, TX. Pastor Lonnie Carroll will officiate.
Dorothy will be buried at Sterling White Cemetery in the Serenity Garden, located at 11011 Crosby-Lynchburg Road in Highlands, TX.
