Graveside Services for Vivian Jane Weems of Tyler will be held on Saturday, November 2nd 2013 at noon in Timpson, Texas at Woodlawn Cemetery, with arrangements to be provided by Taylor Funeral Home in Timpson.

Ms. Weems waited to pass Saturday, October 26th until surrounded by her two sons and lifelong friends Don & Patsy Hays; only days after celebrating her 67th Birthday.

Born October 22nd 1946 in Timpson to James William Burrows and Vivian Margaret Ramsey Burrows, her roots, grown in the rich history that is East Texas; her Grandparents William Marvin and Susie Jane Ramsey were early Shelby County pioneers, and her paternal Grandparents Elmer and Genie Burrows were both natives of Garrison in Nacogdoches County.

A beautiful soul who overcame many obstacles, she attended school in Timpson and Houston before the family ultimately pronounced Henderson to be its new home. Living there for many years she graduated with the Class of ’64, where she developed many friendships that survived the test of time.

Her career began at Fitchene Manufacturing in Henderson and included time with Rusk-Cherokee Community Action Program before moving to Houston where she ultimately retired from Bank One in the mid 90’s. It is also during this time that she met one of her dearest friends; Marsha Haas.

Throughout her life she always managed to stay busy. With hobbies and interests which included everything from sewing and quilting, cooking, scrapbooking, reading, and even power tools (As evidenced by the assortment of saws and drills). She was a sponge that always wanted to do or learn new things! Since moving to Tyler she also became involved with the local American Legion Post 12 Ladies Auxiliary and she always looked forward to any outing across the border to Bossier City. Especially if it were to include her great friends; Patricia Murr, Wanda Barber, or Pam Cox Coward.

With all of the above in mind, her true passions in life were her family and friends; and not unlike every other female of her generation, she most certainly was always in love with Elvis Presley.

She was preceded in death by her Parents and Grandparents, older brother Jimmy Burrows, her larger than life Uncle Tim and Aunt Jane McPherson, and Cousins Karen McPherson Cook and Jeff McPherson whom she always loved.

She is survived by her sons; Scott Weems of Tyler and James Weems of Atlanta, Ga., her baby brother Marvin and his wife Star Burrows of Farmers Branch, Sue Burrows of Carrollton. Other family members that held her heart for all of her days included: cousins - Gay and Brian McPherson, Billy Wade Burrows, Lynne Hughes, Kathy Hunter, Denise Hunter Barnes, nephews - Brad Burrows, Danny Weems, Brad Weems and Blake Weems, nieces -Brenda Patterson and Alexis Hull. Debbie and Elton Weems and especially our God Parents, Don and Patsy Hays! And most assuredly she loved her fur Babies which dotted the different times of her life. Just to name a few would include the current clan of Tippi, Jenna and Lizzie. Her heart was huge and she felt the love from and for more people than we can possibly think to acknowledge. Please know that she is looking over you all with an open heart.

We will always Love this Amazing and Beautiful woman with our whole hearts!

In her memory and in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Ladies Auxiliary of Post 12’s American Legion in Tyler or the Humane Society of East Texas.
