Cora Hall Wilburn, 84, of Joaquin, Texas, entered the gates of heaven on October 18, 2021, at her home in Joaquin.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at Watson and Sons Funeral Home in Center with funeral service at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday.  Bro. Wayne Painter and Wade Lawson will officiate. Interment will follow at Cool Springs Cemetery in Logansport, Louisiana.

Cora was born May 5, 1937, to her parents, John and Unie Hall. Cora was the baby of 7 children. Cora was raised in Logansport, Louisiana. She attended and graduated from Logansport High School in 1955. Cora married Glenn Nutt in 1955. They had two children - the late David Nutt and wife Debbie and the late Cynthia Lawson. After the passing of her late husband Glenn, Cora remarried Bobby H. Wilburn in 1987 and gained three more children - the late Mike Wilburn and wife Janet, the late Steve Wilburn, and Yolonda Davis and husband Lynn. Cora worked at Community Bank of Louisiana, where she retired as vice president after 30 years. Cora enjoyed traveling, fishing, gardening, sewing, cooking, and most of all being “MAMMAW” to her grand and great grandchildren. The highlight of her week was knowing her family would gather for Sunday lunch that she had prepared each week, because family was her greatest gift. Anyone that ever walked into her house was always asked if they were hungry, because she was always ready to cook for them. She was “MAMMAW” to everyone. Cora was a proud member of Cool Springs Primitive Baptist Church.

Linda Sue Hutto Schlageter, born August 12, 1954, peacefully passed away in her Texas City home on Friday, September 10, 2021 at the age of 67.

Linda, known by her grandchildren as “Mamo”, was born to James Vernon Hutto and Wanda Ohm Smith. In her early years, she lived with her parents and older sister in their small family home on Dolrece Street in La Marque, Texas. A few years later, Linda and her family moved to a neighborhood known as “Freeway Park” in Texas City, where, in her later teen years, would meet the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Warren Schlageter. Many of Linda’s lifetime friendships were forged in this neighborhood. Linda graduated from La Marque High School in 1972. Linda and Bob got married at the Queen of Peace Catholic Church in La Marque in 1974 and began their life together in their Texas City home, where they lived for the next 31 years, raising two sons, Cody and Casey Schlageter.

Through the years, Linda has been a stay at home mom and has worked at the family owned Western Auto, as well as First Bank of La Marque, the Galveston County Tax Office and her final career as a book keeper for 20 years at the Gulf Grey Hound Park. Linda is known for her kindness, happy and bubbly personality and her unwavering ability to take care and give to others – even at her own sacrifice. To know Linda, is to know laughter and happiness. Her upbeat persona, smiling face and giggly laugh could lighten any mood or room full of people.

Linda enjoyed cooking (especially casseroles and new dishes) and would often doodle or draw, especially with the grandchildren. Linda welcomed company and loved entertaining guests at their beautiful home by hosting Christmas, July 4th and other parties. Linda, Bob and her two sons (and later their own families) often spent many weekends on family property in the country, including Joaquin, Hackberry and Ezzell, Texas. She cherished being outdoors, doing things like taking care of her plants, enjoying a camp fire on the patio, watching a sunset over their lake, simply relaxing in her sun room reading, and most of all, spending time with family and friends while partaking in Miller Lite. However, none of those interests topped spending time with her six grandchildren! They were her world!

For someone with tiny feet, Linda Sue Hutto Schlageter left large shoes to fill. She will always be loved, remembered and be greatly missed.

Magalis Yanez Perez, 48, of Nacogdoches, passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021, in Nacogdoches.

Visitation will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Watson and Sons Funeral Home in Center with funeral service at 3pm, Sunday. Pastor Osbaldo Hernandez will officiate. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center.

Born March 29, 1973, in Cardenas, Tabasco, Mexico, Magalis is the daughter of Victorio Yanez and Petronila Perez. She was a member of Seventh Day Adventist in Lufkin.

Magalis Yáñez was a wife, mother, grandmother loved by all who knew her and if they did not know her, it would not take much to love her and see her generosity. She was one of the most helpful souls on this planet who never rejected anyone in need. She always put others before herself. She was one of a kind and will be missed by many.

Our mother has left this world and gone home to the Lord. She spread her wings on the morning of October 12, 2021 and is no longer suffering as she had been in recent weeks due to her illness.

Our mother was a very strong, kind, loving and humble of heart women. She really was a very valuable woman; the woman who brought us into the world. I really have no words to describe the great pain it has been to lose her. My heart is no longer complete. But we know that you are in a better place and we can only wait to meet you. We will see you one day dear mother, we love you and we will love you always.

Realmente no tengo palabras para describir el dolor tan grande que ha sido perderla. Nuestros corazon ya no esta completo. Pero sabemos que estás en un mejor lugar y no nos queda mas que esperar para reunirnos contigo. Te veremos un día madrecita querida, te amamos y te amaremos siempre.

Christina Lee Jackson, age 40, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021 in Nacogdoches, Texas. She was born September 22, 1981 in Nacogdoches, TX.

She was a church member at Friendship West in Dallas, TX.

Milburn Wayne Cranford, 83, of Garrison, Texas, passed away on October 9, 2021, in Henderson, Texas. He was born on December 30, 1937, in Garrison, Texas to the late John David and Irene (Byrly) Cranford.  Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 14, 2021, at Cold Springs Baptist Church, Garrison, Texas, with Bro. Blackie Cranford officiating.

Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at Garrison Funeral Home, Garrison, Texas.

Milburn “Mert” Cranford grew up in Garrison and was a truck driver for many years.

Mert was a great truck driver and worked hard for his family.  He always made sure his family was taken care of and had all they needed.  He enjoyed mowing his yard and keeping it looking nice.  He loved Sandra’s banana pudding and would request it often.  Mert’s family loved him very much and he will be greatly missed.

Robin Beatriz, 64, of Tenaha, Texas, departed this world on October 9, 2021. She was born on June 16, 1957, in Center, Texas, to the late Robert Bryan and Margie Adams. Her adopted parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Willie Washington of Tenaha.

She attended Booker T. Washington elementary and later attended Tenaha ISD. She graduated in 1974 from Tenaha ISD at the age of 16. During her early years, she attended St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Tenaha and served as Sunday School sectary. She was employed as a cook at Lake Country Inn, Tenaha ISD, Excelsior ISD and Pine Grove Nursing Home. Mrs. Beatriz was also the manager of Tenaha Express and Whistle Stop. She worked at Fast Tax under the leadership of Mr. Howard Cloudy as a tax preparer until her health began to decline.

She loved her family very much.

Born March 29, 1933, in Shelby County, Louise is the daughter of Ed Windham and Lottie Windham. She was raised in the Goober Hill community and graduated from Shelbyville High School. Louise retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone. After retirement she loved her flowers. Both in the yard and the dried flower arrangements she enjoyed making. But her greatest joy in life was being “MeMe”…

Richard "Keith" Langford was born in Nacodogches County, TX on April 11, 1969.

He was raised by his mother Sharon Morris until he left home to raise his children. He worked construction until he was diagnosed with lung disease, which he fought for 6 long years before finally returning home to his mother on September 15, 2021.

He is survived by his 4 children: Kayla, Ozzlynn, Aaron, and Damion and his 15 grandchildren.

Jimmy Lee “Wag” Wagstaff, 62, of Center, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2021, in Center.

Graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Reynolds Cemetery in the Dreka Community of Shelby County. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Bro. Don Windham will officiate.

Born May 23, 1959, in Englewood, California, Wag is the son of Leon Wagstaff and Barbara Jean Domis Wagstaff. He loved playing his guitar, riding his motorcycle, playing games, and spending time with his family and friends. Wag always had a smile on his face.
