May 8, 2017 - Panola College beats Navarro two of three to win series and clinch the 2017 Region IV East Zone Champions.  After losing game one Thursday in Corsicana the Ponies returned home to Carthage on Saturday and won two straight to take the series in dramatic fashion.  With the wins Panola is now 43-11 on the season and finishes conference at 21-9.  Panola will now travel to Grand Prairie Texas as a #1 seed in the Region-IV Tournament.  Panola will host the #4 seed Blinn College in game three of the tournament at 5pm.  For more information about the tournament please visit njcaa.or

Panola College Drops Game One To Navarro College

Panola had trouble keeping up with Navarro in a 9-3 loss on Thursday. Navarro captured the lead in the first inning. In the top of the third inning, Panola tied things up at one. Michael Lawson singled on the first pitch of the at bat in the third inning, scoring one run. Navarro took the lead for good with three runs in the fifth inning. In the fifth Walker homered off of Kyle Rogers, driving in three runs. Navarro scored three runs in the eighth inning. The big inning for Navarro came thanks to a double by Williams and a double by Salazar. Kyle Rogers took the loss for Panola. He went four and a third innings, surrendering four runs, five hits, striking out four, and walking one. Panola collected ten hits. Logan Bailey, Colby Price, Andrew Pace, and Lawson each collected multiple hits for Panola.

Panola Best Navarro In Game Two

Panola jumped out to an early lead over Navarro and took home an 8-3 victory on Saturday. Panola scored on a single by Michael Lawson in the first inning and a home run by Andrew Pace in the second inning. Panola scored three runs in the sixth inning. Panola’s big inning was driven by a single by Julian Flores and a double by Colby Price. Logan Bailey earned the win for Panola. He went six innings, giving up one run, five hits, and striking out four. Panola had nine hits in the game. Austin Blakeley and Andrew Pace each collected multiple hits for Panola. Blakeley led Panola with three hits in three at bats. Panola College Spring 2017 didn't commit a single error in the field. Christian Boulware had the most chances in the field with five.

Panola Grabs Lead In Seventh Inning For Victory Over Navarro

Panola took the lead late and defeated Navarro 9-5 on Saturday. The game was tied at five with Panola batting in the bottom of the seventh when Austin Blakeley hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run. Navarro captured the lead in the second inning. With two outs in the second inning Menchuck drove in one run when he doubled. In the bottom of the fifth inning, and Navarro leading 5-0 Panola scored five runs. The big inning was thanks to a groundout by Michael Lawson, a single by Christian Boulware, and a home run by Bailey. Miles Dunn earned the win for Panola. He tossed four and two-thirds innings, giving up zero runs, zero hits, striking out three, and walking zero. Taylor Tomlin started the game for Panola. He pitched three and a third innings, giving up five runs, nine hits, and striking out four. Home runs for Panola came when Austin De Leon homered in the seventh inning and Bailey homered in the fifth inning. Panola collected 13 hits. Colby Price, Boulware, De Leon, and Lawson each collected multiple hits for Panola. Price went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Panola in hits. Panola didn't commit a single error in the field. Bailey had the most chances in the field with nine.

May 5, 2017 - On Monday, May 1, 2017 Panola College held a retirement ceremony to honor five longtime employees Mrs. Karen McClellan, Dr. Barbara Cordell, Mr. Freddy Mason, Mrs. Ann Boland, and Ms. Becky Gullette. Together these retirees accumulated 110 years of experience. Dr. Greg Powell, President of Panola College, presented each retiree with a token of appreciation and thanked them for their many years of dedicated service.

May 4, 2017 -  Sophomore Captain Denasia Watson signed her letter of intent to continue her basketball career at Wiley College.

Watson was the most efficiant player for the Fillies this year. She was the vocal leader for the team and a key instrument in the success on and off the court.

"I am beyond proud of the work this young lady has done these few years at Panola" stated Head Coach Eddie Kite. He added "she has really improved and I look forward to her continued success at the next level".

Watson played in all 31 games, starting 30, and averaged 6.2 points per game, and brought down 4.3 rebounds per game as well. She had a career high in points dropping 22 against Louisiana College and against Bossier Parish CC she grabbed a career high of 11 rebounds.

Watson will be joining a dominant team at Wiley College that finished 22-7 on the season.

May 3, 2017 - The Panola College baseball team is ranked #10 in the NJCAA Polls and #2 in the state of Texas in TSRN Polls.  The Ponies boast a regular season record of 41-10 and tied for first place with Navarro College at 19-8 in conference.  Panola and Navarro will square off in a three game series this Thursday and Saturday to decide the conference championship and a number one seed going into a the Region-14 tournament. Game time for Thursday in Corsicana is 3pm.  Game times for Saturday's double header in Carthage is 2pm and 4pm. So come out and support the Ponies.  GO PONIES!

Panola College Shelby College Center vocational nursing students participate in an emergency services training drill.

May 2, 2017 - The Panola College Shelby College Center vocational nursing department traveled to Carthage to participate in an emergency services training drill on Friday, April 28th. The drill was organized by East Texas Medical Center and allowed area emergency agencies to practice treating mass injuries through a staged bus crash.

Nursing instructors, Brooke Cox and Karen Noble, along with their students acted as injured parties with some having multiple injuries, some that just needed first aid and others that required ambulance transport.  “Our students were excited to participate and it was a great learning experience for our students to see how these situations would be handled in an actual emergency,” said Brooke Cox.

May 1, 2017 - Panola College swept Paris Junior College last weekend.  Panola won game one 9-7, game two 8-5 and game three 14-9.   With the wins Panola extends their regular season record to 40-10 and 19-8 in conference play.  Panola travels to Navarro College on Thursday May 5th to face off against the Bulldogs in a winner take all series for first place in Region-14 East Zone Conference.  Game time for Thursday is set for 3pm.  Panola will be back at home on Saturday May 6th for a double header versus Navarro.  Game times are set for 2pm and 4pm.

Panola College Best Paris JC In 9-7 Victory

Panola and Paris traded the lead back-and-forth on Thursday, but eventually Panola prevailed 9-7. Panola took the lead for good in the tenth inning. The game was tied at seven with Panola batting in the top of the tenth when Michael Lawson singled off of Myers, driving in one run.

Both offenses were strong at the plate as Panola collected 14 hits and Paris nine.

Paris captured the lead in the first inning. Jeffries drove in one when he singled in the first inning.

Panola scored three runs in the third inning. Panola scored on a groundout by Duke Ellis, a single by Michael Lawson, and a single by Christian Boulware.

Paris scored three runs in the ninth inning. The big inning for Paris came thanks to a single by Anderson and a throwing error that let Paris back in the game.

Miles Dunn earned the win for Panola. He tossed two innings, surrendering three runs, three hits, and walking zero.

Cayne Ueckert started the game for Panola. He threw four innings, surrendering three runs, four hits, striking out three, and walking one.

Boulware, Chandler Morris, Lawson, and Austin Blakeley each collected multiple hits for Panola . Lawson and Ellis each drove in two runs to lead Panola.

4-Hit Day For Price Leads Panola College Past Paris JC

Colby Price gave Paris fits, as he bagged four hits in Panola’s 8-5 victory on Sunday. Price singled in the first, singled in the third, hit a grand slam in the fourth, and singled in the sixth.

Paris scored four runs in the second inning, but Panola still managed to pull out the victory. The big inning for Paris came thanks to a double by Kinkade, a groundout by Beavlaurier, and a single by Mendoza.

Panola took the lead for good with four runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Colby Price hit a grand slam off of Ceaney, driving in four runs.

Logan Bailey earned the win for Panola. He pitched five and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs, eight hits, striking out six, and walking one.

Colton Brasher threw one inning, as two relievers helped Panola finish off the victory. Brasher recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Panola.

Home runs for Panola came when Price homered in the fourth inning, Bailey homered in the third inning, and Austin Blakeley homered in the sixth inning.

Panola collected 11 hits. Price, Blakeley, and Christian Boulware each collected multiple hits for Panola.

The Price Was Right As Colby Price Collects 4 More Hits to Propel Panola College Past Paris JC

Colby Price did it again in game two of the double header on Sunday as he collected 4 more hits in Panola’s 14-9 victory. Price singled in the first, doubled in the fifth, singled in the fifth, and homered in the seventh.

Zach Mason entertained guests with a live musical performance.April 28, 2017 - Panola College hosted a Career Showcase on April 20th in Center, Texas. The event attracted almost 300 attendees from the community and area high schools. The College had representatives onsite to talk about programs currently being offered in Shelby County, like Vocational Nursing, Cosmetology, and Truck Driving Academy. Several area employers set up booths to talk to Panola College graduates and prospective students. Attendees enjoyed live music performed by Zach Mason while dining on delicious bar-b-que served by Nutt 5 Catering.

April 27, 2017 - On April 26, 2017, the Panola College Foundation held their final board meeting for the academic year where Brenda Giles, Chair of the Foundation, presented board members who had completed their term with a token of the Foundation’s appreciation. Board members serving their final term included Sandy Payne, Fannie Watson, and Matt Pool (not pictured).

“We appreciate the dedication, hard work, and generosity these board members have contributed to the Panola College Foundation over the past six years,” said Brenda Giles.

April 27, 2017 Carthage – Panola College sophomore Devyn Wilson, has signed is national letter of intent with Portland State University. The Brooklyn, New York native was a two-year starter for the Ponies. This past season he was the team’s leading scorer. He was also second team all-region and made the Region 14 all- tournament team.

Devyn was the first signee under Head Coach Grant McMillan. He was part of 50 wins, back-to-back regional championship game appearances, North Division conference champion, and a national tournament berth. “Devyn has been with us since day 1. The amount of growth we have seen from him has been unbelievable. He trusted in our vision and I am forever grateful. He deserves this moment.” Head Coach Grant McMillan stated.

Devyn joins teammates, Eric McGill, Tope Arikawe, Bryson Lockley, and KJ Byers who have already signed division one.
