Last Friday the Center Roughriders won their homecoming game over the Chapel Hill Bulldogs by a 55-14 margin. They got four touchdowns from Keamodre Horace who now has 907 yards rushing and 17 touchdowns this season. The ‘Riders are 3-1 and will host the Van Vandals on Friday September, 25, 2020. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. The Vandals are 2-2 and they beat visiting Pittsburg High School by a 30-2 score last week.

The Joaquin Rams moved their record to 3-0 last week with a 37-0 road win at Ore City High School last Friday. They will be home this Friday to face the Clarksville Tigers (2-2) for the Ram’s homecoming game. Clarksville lost to Prairiland by a 51-21 score last week. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m.

The Shelbyville Dragons won their homecoming game over the Groveton Indians last Friday by a 54-27 score. The Dragons are now 1-2 and will enjoy a bye this week. Next week they will host Timpson on October 2, 2020.

The Tenaha Tigers took a tough 43-26 loss at Clifton High School last week. The Tigers are now 1-2 and will host the Lovelady Lions (1-3) at home Friday at 7:00 p.m. Lovelady lost to Normangee High School last Friday by a 50-12 score.

The Timpson Bears moved their record to 4-0 with a 54-19 road win over the Price Carlisle Indians. This Friday they will host James Bowie High at 7:30 p.m. The James Bowie Pirates are 2-2 and beat Union Grove by a 18-12 score.

September 21, 2020 - All four Center junior high football teams who competed Thursday, September 17th against Tyler Chapel Hill played with heart and determination.

September 21, 2020 - The Center Varsity team will play Van at Roughrider stadium on Friday, September 25, 2020. The following ticket information applies:

  • ***All tickets are pre-sale***
  • No ticket sales at gates
  • $5 per ticket regardless of age (excluding infants)

You may purchase tickets at Center High School Athletic Office as follows:

Families of school participants only (Varsity football, chaparrals, cheer, and band)

  • Monday and Tuesday - 8am to 4:30pm  
  • Up 4 tickets per participant

General Admission (Wednesday through Friday)

  • Wednesday and Thursday - 8am to 4:30pm
  • Friday - 8am to noon

School employees may come any day of the week to get one ticket free of charge. Must come in person with school ID.

The Shelbyville Dragons jumped out to an early 13-0 lead in the first quarter of Friday’s non-district 2020 Homecoming game with the visiting Groveton Indians. By the second period, three early scores by senior runningback LD Coleman had given Shelbyville some distance on the way to allowing the Dragons to take a 41-6 lead into the locker room at the midway intermission. Adaybran Davis and Jakory Standley also added one and two scores respectively, in the first half, as well.

The second half of the game saw plenty of substitutions and a running clock for the most part. Although Groveton was able to outscore Shelbyville by a 21-13 margin in the second half, SHS was able to take away a comfortable 54-27 win to move their overall record to 1-2. Groveton stands at 2-2 for the 2020 season.

The Dragons will enjoy a bye week next Friday. They will host the Timpson Bears on October 2, 2020. The Bears are 4-0 and beat the Carlisle Indians 54-19 on the road last Friday.

 

Last Friday saw the Center Roughriders win their first home game of the regular season by a 41-40 score over the Gladewater Bears. This moved their season mark to 2-1. The ‘Riders will now host the Chapel Hill Bulldogs this Friday September 18, 2020. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. This is Center’s homecoming game. The Bulldogs are 3-0 and won a home game over Terrell High School last week by a 51-42 score.

The Joaquin Rams won a lopsided 41-0 game over the Groveton Indians last week. Their record now stands at 2-0. This week the Rams will be on the road for the second straight week as they head to Ore City to take on the Rebels who also hold a 2-0 record. Kickoff is at Rebels Stadium at 7:30 p.m. OCHS beat the Big Sandy Wildcats 41-14 last week at Wildcats Stadium.

The Shelbyville Dragons’ record stands at 0-2. Their game with Waskom was cancelled last Friday. This week they will host the Groveton Indians at Dragons Stadium for Homecoming on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

The Tenaha Tigers took a 49-0 road win over the Kountze Lions last week. The Tigers are now 1-1 and will face 0-3 Clifton High School at Cubs Stadium on Friday at 7 p.m. Clifton lost 17-7 at Maypearl High School last week.

The Timpson Bears are on a roll after beating visiting Mount Enterprise by a 60-0 margin last week. The Bears are now 3-0 and they will travel to Price Carlisle High School for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff on Friday with the Indians. Price is 2-1 and beat visiting Alto High School by a 12-0 score last week.

The Center Roughriders and the Gladewater Bears battled back and forth throughout an explosive 41-40 Roughrider’s win Friday at Center’s Roughrider Stadium.

Center scored first with a 43-yard Keamodre Horace touchdown run with 10:21 left in the first quarter. The Bears bounced back with 5:06 minutes left in the opening stanza when Gladewater receiver DJ Allen pulled down a 15-yard touchdown reception. The Bears converted a two-point attempt and they  led 8-7.

Gladewater took a 14-7 with a touchdown keeper run by Tristan Holmes with 9:42 left in the second period. The Bears later expanded their lead to 20-14 by half time.

Center came back to tie the game 20-20 near the start of the third quarter, after a Gladewater turnover and another explosive run by Center’s Horace.

The Roughriders came back with less than a minute left in the third quarter on a Horace 87-yard touchdown run to put Center up, 27-20.

Horace scored again twice in the fourth quarter to help gain the win. By the time the smoke cleared at the end of the contest the fans saw each team hold the lead at least three times and they saw the game tied four times as well.

The Roughriders are scheduled to host the Chapel Hill Bulldogs next Friday September 18, 2020 for this year’s CHS homecoming game. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. The Bulldogs are 3-0 for the season and beat visiting Terrell last week by a 51-42 score.

September 10, 2020 - Game tickets for the Price Carlisle game next week, September 18th, will be $5. They will be sold ONLY at the Event Center Monday 7am to 9am and 5pm to 7pm for Varsity Football, Band, and Cheerleader Parents ONLY.

Tuesday and Wednesday 7am to 9am and 5pm to 7pm for General Admission.

We are only allowed 135 tickets and therefore to allow as many familties as possible the opportunity to attend, we will only be allowing 2 tickets per participant / participants in a family.

Signatures will be taken to prevent repeat buyers. We are truly sorry about this and certainly wish this was not the case.


Oscar Flores

September 10, 2020 - Tenaha High School cross country boys' team started their season with a 1st place team finish and senior, Oscar Flores captured the 1st place individual spot at the Broaddus Invitational meet. The boys' team is led by three seniors, Oscar Flores, Irvin Barona and Eduardo Flores.

Schools were divided into heats due to UIL protocols and Tenaha ran against Center, Silsbee, Woden, Gary, San Augustine and Joaquin.

The girls' team placed 5th overall. Coach Lauri Sisk stated "If you live in Tenaha or even passing through, you've seen these kids running. When the schools closed due to Covid19, they ran and continued their runs all throughout the summer. They have such dedication to this sport, and I have the pleasure to see their commitment every day."

The next meet will be in West Sabine on September 16th.
